Highlights of the tremendous battle between two powerful punchers; Lucas "La Maquina" Matthysse and "The Siberian Rocky" Ruslan Provodnikov.
A power punch fest where both traded heavy shots and lived up to expectations of a slugfest. One of the best fights of 2015 and one of the potential candidates for Fight of the Year.
It took me quite a while to finish this but it has been a very satisfying experience.

Also gotta take into account that they are both wearing everlast powerlock gloves. Padded for maximum hand protection. Very hard to KO someone in those which is why power punchers don't really wear them. If Mattyse was wearing MX or Elite pros that he wore for Pacquiao he may have stopped him

Provodnikov is still a great fighter in my eyes. He's willing to stay toe to toe and box. Seeing that ring girl ditch him on 7:46 after she finds out he loses is HELLA FUNNY though!! Can't wait to see Matthysse this weekend at StubHub.
What a fun fight this was. I thought Provodnikov would be done by round 3, but that freak of nature never even blinked once in this fight. That is just INSANE. He easily has the best chin in boxing right now. Matthysse is a tough SOB in his own right. He got knocked a little silly in the 11th round but managed to recover. It's a shame that Provo is such a one dimensional fighter. This reminded me somewhat of Erik Morales vs. Wayne McCullough. Morales was the slicker, bigger puncher and Wayne was the tough Irish lad with a head like a boulder. The difference being that McCullough didn't have the power to make any difference in that fight. He lost a unanimous decision.

Ruslan epitomises heart. His stamina, chin and brawling style make him the best active boxer to watch imo. Really hope he gets a world title again because he's better than his record and last performance vs Molina would suggest

Ive never seen anybody take so many hits to the head and not even wobble! His feet uust stayed planted. At first I thought, "who is this goofy looking f_cker?" By the end of the fight, though, I felt like an idiot for thinking so. Although Lucas Mattheyse is one of my favorites to watch, i was totally impressed by Prodnikov and completely changed my mind from, "whos the goofy clown," to that of total respect. He was amazingly tough and unbelievably solid at enduring the punishment to his head. Even Matthyse said "his hand was starting to hurt" from blows to his head as if youd break your fingers before doing any real damage to him. I now see Prodnikov as an impressive professional fighter to reckon with, and a good sportsman not some puffed up punk showboat. He may not have won the fight but making no mistake he is one tough SOB.

Man, Lucas got skills and a good chin taking haymakers from provodnikov. Im a Filipino and a big Pacman fan but this is not going to be a walk in the park for Manny. Great matchup.

Lucas Matthyse is a hard puncher and so is Ruslan Provodnikov. Both are made of tough materials, thus the majority decision for Matthyse. One thing I noticed is Provodnikov cuts often in his fights. This reminds me of his robbery fight against Timothy Bradley. In that fight, Bradley was more often badly hurt than Provodnikov. But the lousy judges gave the decision to Bradley. That decision sucks until today.
That cut above the eye was the reason why Provodnikov didn't win the fight. One of the best matches I've ever seen without a doubt.

Absolutely! This is why we love boxing, this is the kind of fights we pay to watch. A pity the undefeated retired, I (and many others I bet) would've loved to see him KO'd. Well at least we're over with him. I just hope his style won't be followed by many. It might have been efficient, the guy retired undefeated, but if more boxers follow his style, that will be the end of the sport we love.

after eating all those massive world class knockout artist punches From Matthyse and not even wobble, I'm sure provo has one of the best 140 lbs chins of recent time, massive respect, and I think his savage punches also precipitated Matthyse's mini retirement a few fights later, he took something from him that night too

Provo was a former sparring partner on manny... then we saw on this video that Provo has fully recovered in the later rounds of this fight.. they loved to brawl toe to toe we all know that manny loves toe to toe bcoz he has the wide wide advantage if you loved toe to toe bcoz he has an amazing speed.. angles.. stamina, power and most of all his tiger heart ... good luck lucas
