- Join us for a glorious afternoon in the chateau's entrance hall for a hilarious afternoon of gift opening - we receive incredibly varied, beautiful presents from all over the world, including an Indonesian puppet and a large quantity of straw...
In 'Cadeaux at the Chateau', all of the inhabitants of the Chateau de Lalande gather together to open beautiful gifts that people have sent from all over the world. All of the monetisation from these videos will be donated to a different charity each month. CZcams earnings fluctuate wildly each month, as ad revenue changes throughout the year. Here are the charities that we've donated to so far:
July 2020:
British Heart Foundation UK (in memory of my father) €634
August 2020:
Alzheimer's Research UK (in memory of all of the residents of my parents' nursing homes) €350
September 2020:
Prostate Cancer Foundation (in memory of Selmar's father) €1255
October 2020:
Medecins sans Frontieres (chosen by my mother to support vaccinations in Africa) €942 (equivalent to 426 cholera vaccinations)
November & December 2020 & Jan & Feb 2021:
A Lalande Fashion Scholarship for a student at the Villioti Fashion Institute in South Africa €5500
March 2021:
Suffolk Artlink (amount to be confirmed in mid April)
I used to show the gifts as part of 'The Chateau Diaries' episodes, but you're all so very generous that we have many gifts, and if we spent the episodes opening them, we wouldn't be able to show you other aspects of chateau life! So, for those of you who enjoy watching presents being opened, and as a way to thank those of you who were kind enough to send them, I've made this new channel. Every week we will film your beautiful gifts whilst enjoying afternoon tea or aperitif together.
It is very important to me that you know that we in no way expect anyone to send us gifts. I would like to go further than that and add that, if doing so will put you in any financial difficulty whatsoever, please, please do not send us anything. Knowing that you join us by watching 'The Chateau Diaries' gives us all an enormous boost. But for those of you who have sent these incredibly thoughtful gifts, I hope that seeing us open them gives you a fraction of the joy that you've given us, and that by monetising this channel for charity we can pass on that joy to others 💖💖💖

Absolutely! I love how so many different cultures, fashions, etc are celebrated at Lalande! And Stephanie thoroughly seems to truly enjoy it all!!

When Marie took the hedgehog 🦔 and started squeaking it as she left the room, I couldn’t stop laughing! At first I thought she took it so she wouldn’t be annoyed by others constantly squeaking it, but then she started LOL just so funny. 💕

Indonesia represents!!! That's a Wayang Golek from West Java. Wayang is basically means (traditional) puppets. Love from your Indonesian fan living in India! ❤❤❤

But in Indonesia, wayang means puppet made from animal skin, or the wayang theatre play itself as written in Wikipedia (i.e. Let's play wayang!). In slank, we use the word wayang with suffix -an (wayangan), which make it means "stay up late". It refers to the tradition in java where the wayang theater play commonly started in the midnight. (i.e. Don't wayangan too much, it's not healthy!). I hope my answer suffice.

Love watching your unwrapped videos! Much to my surprise someone sent you the Duchess Bakery 1st cookbook! My daughter-in-law Sarah worked on that cookbook, all the editing and styling. A funny story; they were living with us at the time and when they were shooting the photos Sarah would borrow a few items from my China cabinet to use. One morning I woke up and went into the kitchen, much to my surprise, my kitchen table was gone! It is on page 180 and quite a few others. In exchange she would bring home the goodies from the photo shoot, which were so amazing! We all gained a bit of weight that summer. Enjoy the book!

Such beautiful gifts! I love the apron that Jacob made - I think he’s 14 years old & requested to come to the chateau in a few years. I’d love to see an invitation extended to him over the school holidays. He sounds so interesting! The food hamper was so lovingly put together! With Phillip the first to consume the gin.

Indeed a wonderful idea. Extending an invitation for a week to him would probably be a dream come true. I love the sound of his sense of fashion. I have always loved the Cadeaux series along with the Diaries.. How could you not? It's like being a kid again. Love all of the gifts! I just want you to know I am so happy you delighted in my gift. Yes, the large leaf in my arms is a concrete leaf cast from a natural butterbur leaf that grew threw my fence. And Philip ....ha ha ha...but it fit over the knit cap after all. My first cousin Paula who was one of the first to pass away from covid back East Newfoundland loved butterflies and she would love that teacup. She was in her early 50's when she passed and we miss her dearly. Everytime I see anything butterfly I immediately think of Paula. How very generous and precious.
