- I've owned most Apple computers from the last 10-15 years at some point, but i'd always lusted after these beautiful behemoths! Now I have one.... A bargain for £220. In this video I have a quick look around it before deciding on upgrades! i've already order a Radeon 580 8GB for £100, and i'm going to try and keep my total spend to below £500 for the project.

These machines are so versatile. You found a nice one! You can do so much with them, even install Windows 11 with some minimal tweaks during the install! :) I have two of these. One is a dual boot with OSX and Zorin Linux, while the other is Windows 11 single boot with a very nice nvidia GPU that would never work with OSX. Both have 128gb of ram and the x5690s... all salvaged from the e-waste dump... You can do such amazing things with these. I can't wait to see how yours comes along!
Macpro Dual cpu tray and apple cinema screen, 220 quid sounds like a bargain, you need to flash the firmware too be able too install new cpu's
A splendid project and it would work well with a modern Linux OS., such as Linux Mint.

@@retro-unboxing Yes, a dual boot video would be interesting and there are many Linux OS., nowadays, I use Linux Mint as my daily driver and there are several versions of it, including a Debian based version. The links below show videos about Linux which may be of interest.

How can I overclock to the maximum overclock speed allowed?
