16:22 "You don't have to stay and wait for cops, right? Especially when you've acted in self defense." *That is not always true.* In many places, if a crime occurs which involves you (even if you are just the victim) and the police are called, and you are no longer there when they get there, _you can actually be charged with fleeing the scene of a crime._ You also won't have the ability to present your side of the story, which can result in police drawing wrong conclusions about who was actually at fault and whether _you_ actually committed a crime or not.
*It is always a good idea to wait for police, or until you can be sure that police will not be coming.* Otherwise, you could end up having to go through a lot more annoying legal stuff later.

I can relate to the last story. I was very much loved at a local restaurant by that mostly the elderly go to. There was an old lady that was losing her balance and grabed onto me. I whirled my head around wondering who was touching me as I'm autistic but I am okay with being touched by others. I immediately realized what was going on and helped her to the restroom. I even stayed near the restroom after cleaning every table and once she came out I offered her my arm and walked her back to her table. She and her daughter kept thanking me for helping her and even told my boss praises about me. I actually told them that I used to help my mom in being a caretaker for my grandmother before she passed away from cancer. I actually enjoy helping others and it was my pleasure in helping her. All the regulars loved me as I would have conversations with them, appreciated how well I cleaned the tables for them, and seeing a regular face when they come by. They actually gave me a bunch of tips on my last day of work as it was time for me to transfer to the college I needed to go to for my degree and they were really sad to see me go. But are always happy to see me when I visit and sub in when my old boss asks me to. Even my boss cried on my last day as she always told me I was the best table busser she ever had for the two years I worked there. I told her whenever I'm in town I'd be happy to sub in and to just give me a text or call and I'll be there to help.

At least some of the time it seems like Karen saw the customer do something that Karen assumes only an on-duty employee would do, and that's why Karens sometime maintain this attitude of "BuT i KnOw YoU wOrK hErE!" even when the customer tries to explain that they're not an employee.
For example, I've heard stories here about where a taller customer would help a shorter customer get something off of a higher shelf at a store, and the Karen assumes the taller customer was an employee on that basis alone (apparently Karens seem to operate on the belief that a customer would never help another customer for any reason whatsoever, I guess).
I also heard one story about someone who was a customer at a gas station who'd made a mess in the store area (getting a beverage and accidentally spilling it in the process, as memory serves me) and, since she'd worked at a gas station in the past (and I think it might actually have been that particular gas station) and knew where the cleaning supplies were, decided to be nice to the one employee who was on duty by cleaning up her own mess, and who got confused by a Karen for an employee.

For people dumping on the OP#1, anxiety issues have been on the rise in recent times, some it due to Covid, but I would say much of it due to the rise in the number of people like the crazy old lady in the story. Or the comment after the story about the person who had a guy follow them out and open their car door and force them to smile. Seriously, so crazy. But crazy and entitled exists in so many people these days. Just yesterday, my offspring and their friends were walking around downtown, when they were nearly hit crossing the street by a vehicle turning left. They literally had to jump back or else they would have been knocked down. Worse, after that, the passenger in the car flipped them off, as if they didn't care that they nearly mowed over a group of people, and, in fact, found themselves to be inconvenienced instead. These are the kinds of people who seem to exist more and more lately. Then, to add insult to injury, law enforcement often won't go after these people, even if you have evidence (camera footage at crosswalk, phone pic, reporting of vehicle license plate and description), unless someone gets really hurt or dies. So, yeah, for those who are more prone to being more anxious, times have been really tough. But, certainly, OP really should talk to someone about these issues. Something happened, or a number of somethings, maybe at work even, that has caused the OP to be this way.

Good idea, but FYI, in a majority of cases, security guards are NOT employees of the companies where they work. I could go and on in explanation of how this function generally works but reporting them to HR won’t matter because they’re not hospital employees. Also depending on how the outsourced security contract is written up and the guards trained, the guards might even get into trouble for interfering.

Yeah I actually don't fault the security guards working in healthcare myself. I've often had patients with elderly relatives or partners who don't really have the ability to follow the patient by themselves, but want to anyways. It makes it so now I basically have 2 patients. There are carers for this kind of thing, or other transport services. The elderly shouldn't make themselves a patient

In the first story there, let something like that happen at Walgreens in Nevada I've lived off and on for months at a time in Nevada always moving back to California though since 2001. This time I've lived here for just under 10 years straight. Nevada is a constitutional carry state with stand your ground and castle doctrine laws. Most people open carry some even concealed carry. Myself I'm a cc. I carry Sig Sauer 9 mm everywhere I go. My point is if that had happened in Nevada Op would have had every right under our state laws to use deadly force to defend herself. Our castle doctrine reads as if anybody attempts to break into your occupied home or vehicle, and you feel like you are in fear for your life, you have 100% the right to use deadly force to end the situation. If that had happened to me Karen would be a piece of Swiss cheese on the ground next to my car, and I have to wait around for the cops to fill out the papers and deal with the formalities. But at the end of the day even though I would have a long inconvenience of waiting, I would go home and Karen would go to the morgue

Trans lesbian here. You can't tell someone's orientation just by looking at them. This is coming from a woman who has tattoos in the trans and lesbian pride flag colors. One is a Thor's hammer with the trans flag on it and the other is a valknut done in the lesbian flag. I've had men hit on me at times, never mind that they have better odds of throwing a baseball with enough force to reach escape velocity and have it land in a precise spot on the heart of Pluto than they ever will of dating me. Like you, I have to deal with the usual suspects. But I also have to deal with chasers. I present very femme and have long hair, so the men who do hit on me often try to deny that I'm gay. As I've never dated men AT ALL, I'm what's known in the community as a gold star lesbian.

I once had a bum get VERY pushy with me. "I'm gonna tell you why you should give me some money!" was one of the things he said, in a very aggressive tone of voice. And he was HUGE, not tall but he was a massive block of muscles, built like a tank. Reason I mention it is that he kept at it after I got in my pickup, kind of like the poor girl in the first story. But I'm nothing like her. I know my vehicle is a potential weapon, so as I felt threatened, I tore straight out of there not caring if he was in the way or not. He wasn't, as it happened, but when I say I didn't care, I do mean I _wouldn't have stopped._ I was getting _out_ of that situation no matter what happened to the other guy. So: Don't mess with people in their cars.
And yes, the guy in the second story sounded like he was a serious threat to cookies. Well, at least the ones on that shelf.
