Some of the initial concept studies look more promising than the final product.
The problem with a lot of choices and many decision makers
The problem with complex shapes that have to be able to be massively constructed in the production line, adaptations for costs, redesign choices, etc
The look is not everything...
Aerodynamics is more important than the look, because it affects fuel consumption
So if the car looks beautiful, but is not efficient in terms of feel consumption for example, the it needs to be redesigned
They are the seeds of the cultivated plant.
Concept cars tend to look better than their production counterparts. It’s just a byproduct of manufacturing and regulations.
Team work is key from designing to production,manufacturing,sellings
Just reduce the S class by 30% in size, work finished, there’s your C class.

The C, E and S Class look more similar than ever before. Before, I would instantly be able to differentiate between the three models. Now, I have to see the model denomination at the back. That kinda takes away from the exclusivity of the S or even E class, given how common the C class is. Beautiful car though.
Dheevesh Mungroo I've figured out how to differentiate between them. The S has a clearly longer wheelbase, the E has a bit of a sharper edge on the tail light.
@@mpacker Other way to differentiate: Look at the headlights. The c class has 1 stripe, the e class has 2 and the s class has 3.
simon n this is probably the biggest giveaway, but this was only implemented in the s class in 2017.
Lol really? I can count on my one hand how many times I've mistaken one for the other. They have very distinct visual cues if you know what to look for.

Wow, never had a chance to go to designing school but I have a experience working with the car company here in the philippines the last project I did is Mercedes Benz s-class I airbrushed the car I always dream to be part of a well known company like mercedes benz and be part of the designing team but bcos of this pandemic virus and im now 32yrsOLd I think I just have leave my dream here in the comment. They (and not just they but all the other manufacturers) show all the aspects of designing process and stage apart from the most important one - CAD Design, what software they are using and how they make it literally. They do not want to show that. So what is the point of watching how this big bulk piece of clay is cut when we already missed the most important part of the process..
Its beautiful, but I personally think the interior quality isnt as good as the previous generation. Same with the other Mercedes models. But in terms of design, its brilliant.
nahh, the still put inside the best quality materials, benz always had that awesome metal/wood/leather combination.
Interior standard is not as high as the W124 or W140.

Imo, the c and e class look wayyyyy tooooo similar time each other and it isn’t helping the e class which is suppose to be better than the c class

Looked like Photoshop or AutoCAD.
2D drawing (painting) on 0:20 is Photoshop, that can not work (I mean like a professional in car industry) if you have above 25 or more years. 3D software on 4:08 is Catia, but I think the most companies in car industry use Alias (Autodesk).
Your last point is not completely right, it's ICEM Surf. Alias is mostly used for Design Modelling, while ICEM is only used for Class-A Surfacing.
Hi Chris! I agree. Alias used by surface modeller but I haven´t understood what Class-A surfacing is? Do they work with Class-A surfacing before going into Alias? I guess visualisation is done before Class-A surfacing?
