I’m from Arizona and I’ve come across some sweet green prickly pears. My wife made some agua fresca out of it and it was very refreshing and delicious. My favorite are the red ones but they’re a lot smaller around the area I live. But they’re VERY sweet.

in South Africa we have the green variety of the cactus pear. They are as sweet as watermelon. To peel it, we cut the two sides off, make a diagonal slice through the peel on one side and roll the fruit out of the peel. Never came across the red or yellow variety here.

Yea I’ve had the red ones before and loved them. Purchased green thinking it would taste the same and was taken aback at how not sweet it was lol. Think imma end up juicing it with some cucumber & honeydew
