Chinese metro runs through residential apartment

  • For some city commuters, living near a metro station is not enough.
    Residents in this building in southwest China's Chongqing Municipality literally live within the station.
    When city planners and engineers were asked to design a new train some ten years ago, instead of demolishing people’s homes, they designed one that runs through them.
    The light rail passenger train’s Liziba stop is in a hole in the center of this 19-storey residential block.

    With Chongqing, on the metro you can be in a tunnel one second and be 50m above the ground in the next.

    I can imagine all the issues that this has to cause on a daily basis. Maintenance must be a nightmare. How can anyone sleep in that building without getting woken up every time that things go through the building. It’s real cool but totally nuts.

      I feel sorry for the people who lives right next to passing trains every 15 mins. Nothing can insulate that noise, and even the vibration will annoy you to death. It is a health hazard for sure. Unless you actually live in that neighborhood and thinking it is a paradise, I really don't believe what you are saying making much sense.

    • @TPerm-hj4sf
      @TPerm-hj4sf Před 7 lety +2

      Jack Li You should say that to yourself. It does not take a genius to figure out living right next to the passing train will severely affect one's living quality. It is called common sense.

      Jack Li That camera was at least 5 stories below the tunnel, the noise was even laud in this video. I can not imagine how someone can live in that tunnel 24/7, but maybe you can. Human is a adaptable species, given long enough time with only limited resources, anything is possible.
