This is a great show, and that's the beautiful Brenda Sykes as Elaine, looking very young at 20.

These are really well done, I like how not everything is tied up neatly at the end. Believable situations, well acted. So happy these are available .

If two of my older siblings were still alive, they'd turn 72 and 70 this April (2023), high school grads of 1969 and 1971. I used to watch this show with the younger of the two. The show began in 1969, they were obviously a Junior when it started. :-/

      No, it is not.
      Look at 00:39
It is a 1963 Plymouth Valiant Signet. Note the fender emblem and other distinctive features:

i did not like jason in this episode. first, once he gets the girl, he treats his best friend like he doesnt want him any more. and then secondly, he brought all of it on, all by himself. he came into the house with an attitude that would cause any father not to want his daughter to go out with him. then he pulls something, that he was lucky that father didnt give him a shot to the jaw. that father was extremely tolerant in telling jason never to come back. making the father the bad guy and jason the guy that got hurt was a terrible mistake. if they had wanted that story line, they needed a whole new set of facts. cuz what was presented was not at all that.

I agree... he was disrespectful in attitude. No compassion or understanding for her dads role as a parent.

Far better than a bunch of kids with money now. I worked in University dining halls over 10 years. The kids who had to work were 100 times better than those that didn't entitled assholes.

23:52 I do not know who wrote this terrible script, but Jason is being portrayed as a spoiled brat with no self esteem. He comes into someone's house, disrespects the father, and then walks out with his daughter. Then he has the audacity to get Ritchie to lie for him so he could take advantage of the girl. Pete Dixon should have come down hard on Jason and defended the father, who was rightly concerned about his daughter.
