@Shirtman Instyle I was invited to a barbecue in the Berkeley Hills. A lot of the musicians who were in the film hosted the get-together. It was a wrap party for the CD they released under the band's name, "Ulterior Motives." Dave, the keyboardist from England, gave me his folding Sony earphones for Walkmans. I'm not sure that they work, but I still have them.
I love the long opening of the older shows. They got ya in the mood with the theme song, introduced each character, showed you scenes/backgrounds. Now it's all cut and sped up to show more commercials.
This problem is still going on. I was a Reading Recovery Tutor and kids at this age need high interest content/low level books. This is also why Special Needs Student Assistance is so vital now.
I love how Superintendent Ross stepped right up to read and earn some school bucks to buy a piece of cake. Oh man I hope I can find season two after the next/last episode of season one on this playlist. xoxo, many thanks for sharing season one, I really enjoyed the show SO MUCH this week. more xoxo
This is how it is in public schools still today what the answer to a age old story thanks 👍 for bringing it into the light to bring change in are school system today.
I guess because I was about 12 when these were aired I didn't realize that the "kids" looked older than real high school teenagers. It's fun to recognize future stars on the episodes. Rob Reiner, the Meathead 😆!
I really miss shows like this. I remember this show when I was 7 years old. It was a great teaching tool for life without sex and violence to get ratings! We need more shows like this today and into the future. 👍

The teacher played one of the Baldwin sisters on "The Waltons." The actress that played the other Baldwin sister also appeared as a teacher at Walt Whitman high.
Yeah I watched 10 episode earlier today we’re Liz was excited they were serving lamb shanks in the cafeteria. I really have to question where they were that they could afford to serve lamb? Like they teleported to the Middle East.
Wish I could find Season 2 somewhere. I think the series went quickly downhill after the first year, but it would be nice to see one more season. I have really enjoyed these …as a child of the 60’s. Thanks so much for posting!
I remember this episode well. It was dramatic when he flipped the coin on the kid's desk, and I remember the "Whitman dollars." That makes sense to a point, but in a few days, Pete has these troubled kids becoming Bill Gates and Warren Buffet. All over cake and doughnuts. Not too likely.
It was very difficult to use actors under 18, because the law limited their hours working and required real life tutors be on the set. Plus pushy parents could be a problem. So TV shows usually opted for actors in their 20s to play teens.
I’d send every one of those little (er uh big) bastards home in tears for acting like that in my class! My brother sent me this link and unfortunately these issues still exist today. Incentives for learning are a definite help though.
There's more red tape hiring real kids, so most TV shows and movies will try to hire adults whenever they can. I've never been an actress but I did some extra'ing in movies when I was a little girl and a woman, and wow it's different!
But that's the point, students who fall behind in academics and get old while their peers move beyond them and graduate. Absolutely there are students in high school right now who are older than they should be. The real thing is that it is very brave to hang in there and finish, rather than give up and quit. Beyond that, as a nation we must support our public schools so that they can produce the well rounded citizens we need to preserve our democracy and understand what/who they are voting for. 🗽
