- National Geographic's "Billy & Molly: An Otter Love Story" wowed audiences at SXSW, and now the film is streaming on #DisneyPlus. I had the pleasure of speaking with Billy and Susan Mail about the experience of welcoming a small film crew into their home to document the magical phenomena of an orphaned otter trusting Billy to help her learn to survive in the wild.

I have watched it twice, on National Geographic, and loved it, sniffed and held the Kleenex through it, laughed and loved all of it. Absolute unexpected charm this documentary. Thanks for some backstory. And to Charlie Hamilton James, a sincere thank you for bringing to the big screen such a gentle, moving story about life, unexpected relationships, belated self understanding, human kindness, love in a marriage, and what is truly important in our lives. And to Billy; the world needs more kind souls like you -- millions more. To Susan; your words in the production about "and that's what love is, isn't it?" really touched me. We should all come to acquire that wisdom and apply it. I also enjoyed your gentle, patient, understanding and loving spirit. The best production I have seen in many years, and it is nothing short of amazing that it is a real documentary. Well done! Kudos to all!

This film and story really touched my heart. ❤️ As someone who has not been able to have my own children, the emotional part of the story I could relate to and felt a sense of kinship. It was beautiful, emotional, vulnerable and I thank you for sharing your story and beautiful souls. 🦦 💕
My godson was one of the cameramen who lived with Billy and Susan for months. By all accounts they really are as kind and decent people as they come across. And yes, Jade got plenty of ball time!

I didn't realize until the very last line Jade was a girl. Admittedly, there were a couple of scenes where I was thinking "Please don't neglect him [sic!] over Molly now!", especially when she seemed to be or was obviously craving attention. But on the otter hand, we only get to see what we're shown, don't we. But I got a good feeling to see her get her scritches^^.
And that scene Molly's head popped up between the seals, scaring them away was almost making me spit my crisps out with laughter.
