Yeah, it was a miss. We did end up getting some good Kobe Beef in Osaka a couple days later! Thanks for the tip on Teppanyaki though we haven't done that yet.
You guys should definitely try 'Nikujaga', a Japanese cuisine 'cause it's really good. You can eat it at a restaurant named 'Yayoiken'. Hope you enjoy your adventure in Japan!
Oh, I'm sorry to hear that. Unfortunately, the place you went to was a cheap version of a Kobe beef restaurant. If you want to eat really good Kobe beef, you should go to a style restaurant where there's an iron plate in front of you and the chef cooks it on the spot. But it's very expensive. The Kobe beef restaurant in a luxury hotel is definitely delicious, but you might want to ask the Kobe Tourist Information Center for a good restaurant at a reasonable price.
It looks like you're not satisfied with the Kobe beef restaurant. I don't associate the first class Kobe beefsteak house in Kobe with China Town(Chinese restaurant district). There is a reasonable steakehouse near Sannomiya JR station, called Kobe Steak Land, price around ￥2,000.- for lunch and delicious. Moria near Sannomiya Ikuta Shrine, which is populared among foreign tourists, is well known as 1st class steakhouse. Someone recommended the restaurant you went, to you? It's wrong. That's not area for the genuine Kobe beef steak, but just Chinese cuisine. I'm Kobeite, and know everywhere. Please don't be disappointed, and come again to Kobe. Sorry to you all the way from Osaka, spent a lot of money.
If you live in Japan then it’s OK, but if you’re not then it’s a pain in the rear. I’m currently in Osaka, and I can tell you it’s very painful to get around. Forget about the train, even with taxi you need to take a picture of where you want to show to the driver. English speaking in Japan is 10% or very much none. Another painful issue is ordering the food, rarely any English menu so you rely very much on Googles translate. I arrived in Tokyo train station, and took me half an hour to get out of there. It’s a maze and my phone was slow to update the Google map. I don’t if Japanese care much about travelers or not, but they need to improve their English sign as well as improving their travel industry. If you get lost then may well call the ambulance. All the information on CZcams is junk, they didn’t tell you the true. We’re traveling on our own from Narita, Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka and so far it’s a stressful journey. There is no down, it’s a beautiful country, clean and good culture but not for travelers. I recommend to go on a tour if you’re wanted badly to visit.

You can get wagyu beef at almost any grocery store in Japan. If you go to some butchers, they got premium one like A5.
