  • 1 day Japan travel itinerary guide on what to do and eat in Kobe. Kobe offers much much more than just Kobe Beef!
Kobe is under an hour away from Kyoto and Osaka, so it makes the perfect day trip as well.
Kobe is very well known for their famous Kobe Beef, however this city has much more to offer than just that. In this video let me show you how to travel around Kobe efficiently and visit the must see places in just one day.
1 day in Kobe is enough to see the main areas of the city, however if you want to do more activities like hiking, going to the onsen or more hands on cultural experiences then a few days would be better.
Also, If you have more days to spend here then I definitely recommend checking out more of the local areas and back streets!!!
Things to do in Kobe city, Japan:
    JR Shin-Kobe Station
    Shin-Kobe Ropeway
    Nunobiki Waterfall
    Nunobiki Herb Gardens
Kitano District (Ijinkan foreign residents houses)
    Sannomiya Station
    Steakland Kobe Beef
    Nankinmachi Kobe China Town
    Meriken Park
Kobe Great Hanshin Earthquake Memorial Park
    Kobe Maritime Museum
    Kobe Port Tower
    Kobe Harborland
    Kobe Cruising
    Mosaic Shopping Mall
Kobe City Hall 24th Floor Free View

Thank you for your nice video! I visited Kobe in March 2014, and I lived in the Oriental Hotel (the one shaped like a boat). Superb night view from the balcony of the hotel. Kobe is actually my favorite Kensai city so that is why I always check out the videos on CZcams to see how it looks like now. I currently live and work at NYC. Will definitely go back one day!!!

Last semester (spring 2019) I studied abroad at Ritsumeikan University Osaka Ibaraki Campus. I was able to join the tennis club 同好会 and we had a match against Kobe Uni/Shindai (神戸大学/神大) who's courts are located in the mountain area of Kobe, offering a lovely view to the bayside. After the matches finished, my friends and teammates went to celebrate one of our guy's 20th birthday at Torikizoku (鳥貴族) near Rokko station and it was also fabulous!
Needless to recall, we went back to some of the spots in this video: Meriken Park and Nankingmachi in one of my last days in Japan for that time. I truly love Japan, its culture and its people. My dream is to work and live there someday 💓

I live in Rokko which is like a 30 minute drive from Sannomiya and youre right, sightseeing in Kobe for one day is definitely doable. In my honest opinion, theres not many places to go or see in Kobe, other than Harborland and eating Kobe beef (just to say you've had it). Even visting Sannomiya is not really worth it if you've been to or planning to go to Osaka where theres SO MUCH more things to do/see/shop/eat. Also, because Kobe was a major port city, theres a lot of international companies located there compared to other cities and their presence is quite visible. For example, the cars in Kobe are surprisingly full of BMWs, Mercedes, Porsche etc. and its not just because its an affluent area per se, but also because thats just where the cars come from and they're a lot easier/cheaper to get a hold of. My main point is, because Kobe was the main port in Japan that frequently traded with the West, you will not see and experience a lot of traditional Japanese sights or culture, and its also definitely not a "modern" enough city like Tokyo. Its still a lovely city and people here are extremely kind, especially compared to people around Osaka, but if you had to condense the number of places to visit in Japan due to time or money constraints, I suggest crossing out Kobe imo lol

    • @JeremyGalloway
      @JeremyGalloway Před 7 lety +3

The one hour hike up to the herb gardens was really nice! Good exercise and you get to be really close to the waterfall. Unfortunately, I didn't do enough research ahead of time because we went in the afternoon and by the time we got to the top, the garden and ropeway was closed.
I went to a restaurant near Kobe station I think for Kobe beef. Found the restaurant by chance. It was around 10000 yen for a dinner set that came with an appetizer, salad, beef main course with rice, and dessert. It was so delicious!

Additionally I will recommend going to a rooftop bar at one of the hotels on Port Island. The night time full city view is gorgeous.
