  • This video shows the first new track laid at Train Mountain in several years. The approximately 1400 feet of new track shown in this Run Through goes from Beauchamp Siding on the North end of Aspen Grove to the old south bound track just north of the Dam 4 Junction. At Beauchamp Siding, there is now a choice of going south through the west side of Aspen Grove, or taking the new track to just north of the Dam 4 Junction. Because the new track choice will be the shortest distance back to Central Station, it becomes the defacto mainline, and the the West Aspen track the diverging route. When taking the new mainline track, the route goes from Beauchamp to the Dam 4 Junction, then through Douglas Meadow, to the old Steuer Siding/ Logging Camp, or Aspen Grove East side Junction. If you go to the left, you continue south on the mainline. If you go to the Right, you now are able to enjoy the beautiful ride through the entire Aspen Grove Loop, and re-join the mainline at Steuer. In addition to seeing the new track, the Fall Colors are beautiful.
Train Mountain (at lat. 42.55741 lon. -121.88707) is half way between Klamath Falls, Oregon and Crater Lake National Park. The small City of Chiloquin, Oregon, is just to the east of Train Mountain.
This video was filmed with a train mounted Panasonic S1H camera mounted on a Zhiyun Crane 3S gimbal, in UHD 3840 x 2160p at 30P, 10 Bit 4.2.2. color space, V-Log Gamma. Post Production editing and color grading of the V-Log footage, which can yield up to 14+ F-stops of high dynamic exposure range ("HDR"), was done using Black Magic DaVinci Resolve 18 Studio.
Music courtesy of Pat Karnahan and the Black Irish Band. That's him in the red "Clamper," E CLAMPUS VITUS, shirt at the beginning of the video. The Songs are from "Hear The Lonesome Whistle Blow Railroad Ballads" CD

Very nice, you guy's definitely have the track building down to a science. Visiting Train Mountain is definitely on my bucket list to visit from South Carolina

That group was well organized. When you visit, make sure you allow lots of time so you can see everything.

      Thank you again Tom.
I definitely enjoy seeing the progress that’s continuing there at TM.
What would the possibility of some videos involving the new signal systems.
The last time I was there it was far less sophisticated.
Maybe a ride along stopping and giving a “how to get around” at TM
I live too far away now to visit as often as I used to.
      Looking and planning a visit

That Black Irish Band CD was released in 2001. I thought that those songs fit the train trip through the Aspens quite well. Not only that, but Patrick Michael Karnahan who did the lead singing was part of the construction crew on this project. He is the guy in the red shirt at the beginning of the video.

@@twatson703 that’s nice to know. So someday we’ll get to see a live concert from Patrick Michael and band on a moving train at TMRR

@@anandwwjd Music has been known to break out, but it is almost impossible to video on a moving train. We did have a concert at Gville last year, and are trying to schedule one next year.

@@twatson703 true. Acoustics and video are the most difficult. But with digital instruments directly connected to the recording device and a wind/surround proof mic should be enough. The cameras can focus on the vocalist or just the TMRR scenery.

If you don't like the music, that is what your volume control is for. One of the participants in this project is performing the music.
