I saw there were already a few ambient versions of this song so I decided to put my own twist in the form of something every S.T.A.L.K.E.R. has experienced, the loss of a good companion.

There was a friend of mine, Grishka Carbon, a lone stalker who always accompanied me throughout the zone's toughest parts where he never left me behind despite the odds and always fought until the end. I remember being ordered to kill him by Sidorovich, yet I never pulled the trigger for any amount of money he would have offered me. One day we were under attack by the Military, and he took heavy wounds before succumbing to them eventually, falling down and pleading for help or medical assistance. I remember his cries as if they were recorded in my brain over and over again, and I regret not buying a second medkit that day when it was him who would need it. I'm sorry my friend that you had died because of my negligence. His patch will always be by my side.
But, that is such a life in The Zone.

Its amazing that stalker can create stories like this. The npcs, while relatively advanced, are nothing ground breaking, yet we care for them like real people. Its quite impressive
Had a similar experience in the zone, found some ecologist in trouble from mutants and saved fortunately one, gave him a med kit and now we are friends forever, I call him Giuseppe and even now if I have to load a game back from an hour ago I will for Giuseppe, could never let a close fried go. Plus he tells good campfire stories if he has some vodka in him
I had a stalker appear in my game of Call of Pripyat... Tolka Black... He was truly the best stalker, always somewhere nearby when I was ambushed by bandits, always hanging out in Shadovsk with his small team. I noticed after a return trip from Yanov Station that Tolka was the only man at the table, his team falling to the Zone earlier that day. I got worried days later when he disappeared from Shadovsk and hoped I'd find him around Yantar. Nothing. When I went back to Shadovsk, I roamed around, and found his corpse. Emission? Mutants? Bandits wanting revenge? It did not matter, as no matter the cause, I lost a dear old friend.
Played as him in Anomaly and left his save file as a veteran stalker up near Cordon. Let's drink to him once more, for he was a good stalker :)

When everytime you recruit a stalker with you. In every mission that's unpredictable, he/she dies from a gunshot, a mutant's attack, or too late for the emission. You always end up alone in the Zone.

I was never that sad in any singleplayer video-game for a long time. I almost wanted to reload the save but playing ironman has thaught me to let everything go. I went to lukash and got my reward but I have been on the road so long with this guy that it just feels wrong now.

Playing as a mercenary in Anomaly, I had a squadmate named Vadim. Vadim was a merc in an exoskeleton with an AK-101 and a 1911, and he was with me for the majority of the Living Legend and Mortal Sin storylines, somehow surviving the massive amount of gunfights and gauntlets those two stories put you through.
One day, when walking through our old stomping ground of Limansk, we were ambushed by a squad of Monolith. A gunfight with monolith was nothing new at this point, and it was something of a second nature to fight the monos at least once while moving through that region. It wasn't even a larger amount of monolith than the story missions had us dealing with. Everything pointed toward it being another mild bump in the road for two professional mercenaries who'd seen it all.
For whatever reason, a stray bullet caught him perfectly and he dropped. I managed to kill the rest of the monolith, but he was gone just like that.
Took his patch and his 1911, which I would use for the rest of that playthrough until I completed the third story and some extra missions before retiring my merc for that playthrough. I headcanon that my merc kept the 1911 of his comrade even when he retired and left the Zone behind, never forgetting the friend he lost to a single well-placed bullet.
He was a good stalker. But such was life in the Zone.

OK, story time : The first time I played SoC I didn't knew shit about the factions so I thought duty were the "good guys" so I went along with skull's group, killed the freedom sniper, Yada Yada... and then I realized in how much trouble I was when I saw the five duty idiots go against 15 freedom guys. I ran into their base, trying my best to take out the remaining snipers and hide, but as always for these missions, I was too late... On the comms I heard the duty guys get slaughtered, trying to keep the chain of command and finally hearing one of them saving " dammit they killed three, those bastards, BASTARDS !"
At that point I wasn't doing much better, I was hiding in one of the snipers's towers and I was considering the few options that I had, how I rushed in too soon and without decent gear, but after a few minutes I thought that since all the 5 duty member died by my fault, I owed them to finish the job and kill the boss of freedom, even if that meant taking out the entire base. After an hour or so I killed them all, and I looted them ( of course), I followed the map quest that told me to go to the nearby farm and collect my money ( and I assumed someone survived since I heard a comm after killing the freedom boss), but there was no one at the farm. The freedom guys were all dead. The duty group was dead. I thought I saw a duty member at the farm for a minute but it was just a group of loners wearing exoskeletons. In frustration, I killed them. But after I realized what I had done, I felt like shit and chugged 8 bottles of vodka around the fireplace and the corpses, before starting to realize that I was alone. Again.

The feeling as you watch the Emisson roll in from your safe place as your 4 Stalker friends are still out fighting when all of a sudden you watch their PDA's tick off suddenly, leaving you truly alone in the zone
I literally saw my companion being turned into a zombie when an emission hit because he got in a bit too late. He was with me through the entire time and whenever he was in trouble I would forget everything and rush to save him. Feels really hard to kill someone who was with you through everything just because he became a zombie right in front of your eyes
I can already see the camera panning backwards through a hallway, filled with only the spinning warning lights and the muzzle flashes from the guns being shot in it. This is really atmospheric dude
This remember my comrade in the zone, 2 days together going to Pripyat and some random sniper kill him, I never found the sniper.

Every time I hear it, I remember the ambush they made for Wolf, he was a good stalker but he was betrayed by his allies, go in peace Wolf, your mission in the zone was a success, we will remember you like that moment when we arrived at the camp and you offered to help us, rest in peace my friend.

Reminds me of something that happened recently when I was playing Anomaly... I was gone from the rookie village for a while, adventuring farther away, and one day I came back to check up on the village and trade with Sidorovich. When I finished trading, I saw a distress message on my left from loners saying they were attacked south of the bridge, but I didn't think much of it until I saw a "Task failed: Bandit patches"
I ran as fast as I could towards the bridge, only to see 5 corpses and a single survivor. They had been loners that I'd known from the very beginning, killed by the military outpost. I killed them in return and lit a fire nearby in homage to them.
Imagine this music playing while you're doing the Pripyat 1 mission.
_"I saw Pulya get caught in a Whirligig, and there was nothing I could do. He was screaming for me to pull him out, and God, I wanted to... but I knew that if I tried, I'd just get pulled in, too. I couldn't save him, and it would be pointless for both of us to die. So I left him there. I turned my back and let him die, while he screamed in agony. Then the Whirligig discharged, and just like that, Pulya was no more, and I was showered in his innards. There was blood and viscera everywhere - it was surreal. I just froze there for a moment, shocked and morbidly amazed that anything could destroy a person so thoroughly. Anything that wasn't man-made, anyway. There wasn't even a body I could drag to camp to bury - just red paste sprayed all over the dead grass, and all over me. I'm pretty sure I'll never be the same after that. I love this vid because as funny of a game stalker can be with all the bugs and the funny "cheeky breeki" voicelines, this shows what stalker actually is, a bunch of poor fools wanting to make money or enact their beliefs because they believe what they do is good, but they all die the same, painful way

It's hard enough to just keep myself alive. Anytime I fight with other Stalkers it's rare for even like 20 percent of them to still be alive by the end.

In story mode i played duty with around 20 duty companions we went to the army warehouses to retrieve documents we went to the bloodsucker village as its more safe than passing through freedoms base once we did some of my companions died by gunshot and when i knew it i saw blue and black gear theres mercs ambushing us i fought alot of mercs with some of my companions dying once we killed off some mercs there was silence for around 10 seconds a freedom squad heard the gunfire and the mercs guarding the entrance to dead city has appeared we were outnumbered alot of my companions died already me and some of my companions splitted up with me which means i was alone so i flanked a freedom member killed him then took his armor i was disguised now my duty armor was on around 30% durability i was planning to ambush the mercs and freedomers fighting my companions but since all of my companions were surrounded by mercs and freedomers all of them were dead so i think about this and decided to go to rostok alone not even 1 of my companions survived i switched to my duty armor once i arrived the way to rostok and i didnt even get the documents which meant i lost around 20 guys for nothing
I met a group of Stalkers. A few days later, there was only one left.

I've never played stalker before, but I love the atmosphere of it I'm hoping to buy at least the first game this year.
The first game is great. Go for it. I highly recommend the Anomaly mod after you've finished the first game.
Honestly just play Anomaly, it does everything that the mainline games wanted to do but better. With mods it becomes one of the best survival games on the market.

This is why Im a loner... And not as a fraction but as a person. If I walk alone there is no one that will die for me... But sometimes... I wish I had someone to talk during those nights when I just sit close to the fire...

I bought the three stalker games and I played a bit of the SOC then stopped before continuing again not too long ago. And now listening to this, it's drawing me back into the zone from my break.
I may have left the zone, but it never left me, and now it calls for me.

After this video, even a tear flowed, I remember my mercenary partner in stalker anomaly, I played 500 hours of real time with him for the entire passage, but he was killed by "Sin" in the red forest, and then something happened to my saves and I couldn't ship to the last save, dragged him to a tree and I left him there, how insulting it was then, I was 16 at the time, but I cried like a boy of 10 years old, I spent so many hours with him, we completed so many tasks together, sat around the campfire, even went to the center of the zone and fought with monoliths, and all this disappeared in an instant. You will think that this is after all a game and it was a game character, but for me he has become like a real living friend for such a long time, even now I remember it with pain
it is sad when i have someone by my side, they will always die no matter how and why. It is sad to lose your teamates.

Damn I've lost a lot in the Zone. Being a Bandit is rough, though I don't remember all of their names one always sticks out. From Dark Valley, to Zaton, and back again you were always reliable and a fucking solid companion Razor. I still remember when we raided those Sin fucks and lost the rookie, the mad dash through Pripyat so we could reach the Outskirts. So many came on went but you sticked around. If only I wasn't lazy and went back to finish that Chimera you would still be alive....I'm sorry friend it's all my fault....
I remember one time while playing call of pripiyat i met a stalker yurko visitor at skadovsk later he and other stalkers got into a gunfight with bandits he was the last one alive from the firefight bleeding out I had no medkit but he stood up regardless and continued his patrol

i think the stalker fanbase and games are unique , they create some kind of situation where you have both ludonarrative harmony and ludonarrative dissonance, also how we all have this comradery with stalkers in game, we get attached , we *FEEL* stalker. for some people who dont want to play stalker because of the graphics , thats what makes these games special , sorry for ranting , i just have a lot if feelings for these games
Grisha Sunshine. My companion all the way up to fighting those fucking UNISG Dogs during my clear sky campaign. Saved me from a pseudogiant, countless swampsuckers- domed a controller once. I still remember him, to this day.

Putarya and Awl were both at the boiler anomaly. Awl watched since he didn't have a suit and Putarya went down. I went in and saved him. I would see them around and camp and the zone. One day I returned to Zaton to trade some artifact when I was attacked by a bloodsucker. After I killed it, I saw two bodies. I thought poor bastards didn't see it coming. Then as I checked the bodies, it was Putarya and Awl. They were both so under equipped it was a damn shame. Heres too the Zone taking what it wants and too my two comrades.
nothing we can do about it....we cant escape from the zone....many stalkers....dear to us....left us alone in this zone....but here we are sitting next to fire...looking at it...remembering the laugh and the jokes...and now....we are alone...*sniff* they are in better place now.

The Random Stalkers that were my friends when they ambushed the Dark Valley base. I only saw Alhusksya Bulldog come back to me, telling that the mission was successful, but the Loner died in his sleep, from the pain and wounds he suffered.
Thise four were the best Rookies in Cordon...

I had a friend in Stalker Anomaly his name Sanek Chingachuk. I met him in in the place just north of rooky village with the technician at the campfire. He wore a CDA Suit with a SKS as his weapon of choice. I wanted help little did I Know he was the seven best stalker in the zone. He would tank tons of hits and still stand firm later i gave him a sniper later a LMG. This man almost wiped out bandit HQ all by himself, but he had help from me and Max Spinner my other company. He wares black and white flannel and is a glass canon of our team. Using snipers and high caliber ARs only.
everything changed in Pripyat. Id had taken a job early in my career to Neutralize the top ten from Snitch I believe a Duty guy. id taken the life of a fellow loner for the first time. Undenounced to me Sanek was the next target. This was my first time playing a Stalker game so I wanted the reward. so I wakened with him to the patch of trees. Removed my revolver from its holster and dismissed him as my Helper. Ad this he was now number one Strelok was two! Yet he didn't go out in a blaze of glory id seen him walk away and hit him when he wasn't looking. So instead he had a Death march type death peaceful in a way, And returned to the others with a Heavy heart and gave his pda to Max to hold on to it. later id discover the treble reward Snitch gave me I wished id be able to take him out. Yet he was invincible.

Yeah you made it to the heart of the zone, past the Scorcher and countless Monolith Soldiers. You and your buddies were well prepared, taking jobs for weeks just for the necessary gear.
You all had fancy new rifles and well armored suits, tons of ammo, grenades, medical supplies, everything you needed to push through.
And you made it, you made it past the Scorcher, you made it through Pripjat, fighting your way through countless Monolith Fanatics, Miha got shot in the leg there, the bullet hit an artery, you couldn't save him but the rest of you decided to move on, you thought that Miha would have wanted it, not dying a death in vain,
You and your friends reached the Power Plant only to be greeted by what you can call an army of Monoliths most well trained soldiers. Yet that didn't scare you, you killed so many that you lost count.
Artjom was shot in the head by a well placed sniper bullet, even his expensive military helmet he was so proud of could not save him, he was instantly dead. The man you knew for several years, even before you two entered the zone, dead in an instant from a small piece of lead.
Devastated and numbed you and the rest of your friends, Vasja and Bogdan eliminated the remaining monolith soldiers, you bashing the head of the snipers corpse in who killed your best friend.
Still, this all was for something right? You had a goal right?
The Wish Granter, the legend that rumored since eternities through the conversations of Stalkers, the thing that supposedly could grant you every wish you ever had.
A great goal right? They did not die in vain you thought, this was for something bigger, to reveal the mysteries of the zone, to finally see what this was all about.
So you pushed on once again, deep into the Power Plant, fighting what seemed like an unstoppable horde of Monolith Soldiers. Vasja died because an old Soviet grenade exploded in his hand, you told him not to invest in cheap gear before you started the trip. But in the heat of the moment there was no time to mourn him as bullets flew past your head...
Your last friend, Bogdan, was vaporized by a Gauss Rifle shortly before arriving at your goal, he never had a chance, no armor could stop a force like this. Luckily you could take the shot shortly after and eliminated the shooter.
Devasted and alone you made it. All of your friends dead, countless monolith corpses littering the floors behind you. But you did it, you survived right? If the Wish Granter truly could fulfill all desires you could bring all of them back right?
The Wish Granter was real, you saw him glowing in an unwelcoming light. It fascinated you, it was so entirely alien that you couldn't grasp it's presence, almost like it was speaking to you.
You made your wish: "Bring my friends back" but nothing happened. No Artjom suddenly greeting you and no Miha cracking a joke.
You just suddenly realized one thing and it was almost like this big rock was taunting you, there is no coming back. They were gone, not coming back.
Out of desperation you tried to make another wish: "Reveal to me the secrets of the zone". You got something but not what you expected: A dark sense of hopelessness and anxiety crept up on you.
It was all a lie, the glorious tales, the legends, the mysteries surrounding this thing, all a big lie. It almost felt like this rock was making fun out of your situation, like it enjoyed your misery and suffering,like it knew you were coming.
All this, all this death, all the friends you lost, nothing but because a lie made you guys euphoric and adventurous. There was never anything to gain but nothingness.
With deep sadness you turned around and left, past the corpses of your friends, past the dead monolith...all the way back to Rostok.
You made it but lost everything
Yurka Absolute, was with me all the way from rookie to veteran; he was my best friend, a loner with a leather coat and a bolt action .20 gauge. Yurka was with me through it all, bandits in garbage, not a problem, mercs in army warhouses, easy days. Feeling like he had done good work and worried for his safety as I ventured into Red Forest, I sent him back home to the rookie village. I dont know what happened, I should have been with him like he was for me. I found his body just west of the depot in garbage. I'll never fogrive myself for not being there when he needed me.
Must merely find the way home..
After all the gunfire smoke settles and everyone around you lies there filled with bullets n loot you walk through and miss the voices that filled the air before realising there an enemy but that's the way of the Zone

When I lost my legs on my last excursion into the zone, they tried making me a handler, someone who gives the jobs to other stalkers. I was so disgusted by this. Sending others out so they could end up like me or my friends who was also lost to the zone. Fuck that. I now tend the bar at the safe barrier, if they aren’t going to help my fel- them, I will. Whether by simply giving them nourishment or listening to them. You’d be surprised how much listening helps a stalker who feels particularly wounded by the zone.
Such is life in the Zone.
In my hundred iron man runs and hundreds of hours playing modded anomaly EFP, trying to achieve invictus run achievement challenging myself to my limits, I have this fallen friends Bohdan Pianist and Tolik Executioner.
A two Free stalkers on my back only equip with toz and old rusty ak74 with simple NBC suits I met them at agroprom near train yard at the agroprom compound fighting a patrol of military stalkers and my best man Tolik was wounded and held at gunpoint by a conscript, I tried to held them off and manage to revive Tolik but Bohdan was pinned in train yard near the main entrance and tried to help him but theres so many military stalkers surrounding the area by adding the intense support of there numbers and with the annoying heli with only limited medical and ammo supply that I bought from overpriced scammer sidorovich, In my suprised we survived in unusual way some mercenary spawned idk traveled to agroprom and caught on crossfire as I ask to Tolik and his friend bohdan we ran away to yantar make our adventure as a Team, That Team infiltrate and trespassed dangerous Labs and Fanatic Stronghold all of shit the zone trow at us but not all plan and happiness as team last long but as we recieve a hit from a number 4 legendary stalker a Fanatical Freak at pripyat and Im super sure it was super dangerous for my Ironman state aldready died once but the Invictus run is not over and all but My pride and ego let above me and still tried complete the job, two of my friends are equip with destroyed exosuit and I have nosorog equip feeling confident enough just to gaslight my fear that this do the job done and joking that this is the last Im seing those two idiots friends of mine but my gut my gut came true, We hit them hard and Tolik was equip with an RPG destroying Monolith fighters left and right amd Bohdan supporting him with PKP and me sniping at the back at 60 meters and in Instant Tolik was downed in 3 shot by a gauss rifle And It was the wanted bitch that killed him tried to save Bohdan by not engaging him to fight but it was too late they surrounded him In second and bohdan pleading my aid get him up but he was surrounded by an army of angry rock worshipers and I felt pain and Fear for losing my friends and fearing for my one last life call me a coward even the monolithians chasing me after as I left my lifeless friends body in pripyat but I did it anyway In my way to nearest base at outskirst laundromat then I just checked my inventory learn that my 3 armor plates is busted all on 20%, my nosorog is in 74% and both arms busted and that guitar tolik used in camfire after we became a Teamate at agroprom and This was 6 months ago and still my invictus run is still continuing and bear the regret of my decisions and learned from my mistakes as a Stalker telling to my new companion Hip trying avenge my fallen Comrade. Cada que un stalker comienza a tocar esta canción me viene a la mente el recuerdo de mis viejos amigos de clear sky en anomaly, Sergya Scythe y Leva Sliper, los encontré de camino al bar en el vertedero donde los de deber tienen una pequeña base, necesitaba temporalmente a alguien que me cubriera las espaldas ya que no tenía munición ni dinero para comprar más.
Conforme fue pasando el tiempo comencé a tomarles cariño y aprecio ya que yo siempre suelo viajar por la zona solo y tener alguien acompañándote y pelando hombro a hombro era algo maravilloso para un stalker solitario, como ellos usaban snipers se quedaban atrás matando a los enemigos de lejos mientras yo siendo el tanque con mi exoesqueleto hacía que todos se enfocaran a mi, ganando instantáneamente contra cualquiera, bandidos, renegados, mutantes y los del monolito.
Desgraciadamente cuando me dispuse a raidear la central nuclear con strelok, rogue y stich perdí a Leva Sliper por culpa de una quimera, no lo pude proteger ya que como era el tanque iba adelante de todos y ellos estaban muy atras cubriéndonos, cuando todo terminó me separé de Sergya Scythe en la base de clear sky donde los grandes pantanos y continué solo. Tiempo después sin atacó un campamento al lado de la base principal, cuando fui a ayudar y todo terminó comencé a lootear y grata fue mi sorpresa al ver el cadaver de un miembro de clear sky con el nombre de "Sergya Scythe". Al final de todo los dos se reunieron para ser uno con la zona, que sigue esperando para reclamarme a mí.
I remember tolik isotope he was a rookie egghead, but one of the good ones and he carried an armsel and many grenades. We were tasked by the wolf to rescue a stalker held in darkscape by bandit, when we arrived the bandits were dead and tolik shouts enemy to the east and let's fly with all his buckshot killing three monoliths. I run to flank the fourth but then I hear "Niko fleek help me I am bleeding!" I look and the monolith has ran at him with a grenade...I hear the boom and feel the life blood of my friend wash over my face. I should have known when he blocked me from leaving sids, he knew, he knew the zone was angry that day and would punish us. I miss my friend.
Petro is still out there and he is still alive I just know it for a fact.

Losing companions wouldn't be as bad if only the AI from x-ray was better. For some reason I once told a spetznaz companion to stick to me like glue, and avoid encounters. A few seconds later I found him almost a hundred meters away from me stalking a boar! The bloody hell you idiot! You were supposed to be a soldier not a stalker!!!

Yeah, personally I don't mind then being PC Exclusives as I'm mainly a PC guy and the console hardware back then would've held the game back but it would've been so cool to see these ganes hit mainstream recognition like the Metro Series did. I guess for now it'll be another niche game series that's criminally underrated and not as many people know about it as it deserves

@@qwerty-yo5oc I said I wished it HAD, an in all honesty who the fuck are you? For real what makes you the business expert. Sure it probably won't get a release unless it ever gets a remaster or something similar but it honestly could. An as far as the ps4 being weak the specs are comparable to the xbox to the point of spitting distance and I couldn't even tell you which side is ahead so that's just not the case its probably Sony being up it's own ass, Microsoft is great for working with companies and supporting mods I'll give them that.
