I'm a 62 year old white woman who's loved Millie since the 70's. I went to one of her concerts in the late 70's in Opelousas, Louisiana, and my group of 4 were the only white people in the building (that we saw)! It was the best concert I've ever attended. I've been telling my friends about her ever since.

Got you big sis, on point. As a grown up 👩, now got you, I understand. Lesson learned ,point taken. Thank you for awareness, even though we learned hard way. All said, well taken, still repeating same thing. Music damn good, doesn't miss a point. Thank you, for such a message well received, childhood memories. Now I'm listening, hearing and understanding. Still sounds good, reminds of childhood memories.

Facts but they watch too much tv 📺 today and not learning to listen on a record player 🎞️, music like this has to be listened to on vinyl, in a room where you can be quiet and think. This is what the last two generations are gravely missing. The needle to the record ritual!

Millie J. I still get goosebumps when her voice pitches. This is the first song of hers I ever heard when I was 15 years old and it still remains my favorite 4 decades later. When my mum left to go to town, I would put the hi fi top volume and sing along. When mum was home I would put ear phones on. 😂 Best music era was way back then. Wish I could experience one of her live shows. Fan for life ❤

It was all the tougher to grab yourself a share of attention in 1977 if you weren't doing disco, but Jackson turned every head with this one. The frank rap got you hooked but as you further investigated the rest of the her work, a hell of a talented singer was discovered.

I remember this from 1977 - I was a mere 25 years old. Sitting with friends in a candle-lit room tokin' on a number with the volume a little bit too high ... Her vocal performances had long, humorous and explicit spoken sections in her music--she started doing on stage to get the attention of the audience. And it even worked in the recordings, too. Never failed to crack us up.
    Good times they were!

A very special voice that really caught my attention. Her style of singing can make a person listen and have him or her talking about Millie Jackson tomorrow,

I love coming across old gems like this one...reminds me that there have always been badasses unwilling to compromise. and her comments are hysterical!

A very good friend of mine just passed away 8-21-18, he loved the blues and Millie Jackson was one of his favorites. R.I.P. K.M. Williams. I Love & Miss You My Friend.

Millie was a great singer that wasn't afraid to say what she felt and what life had thrown her way but it amaze me that when the rappers put out an cd, they get banned or even sued but nevertheless, Millie is the QUEEN of TELLING IT LIKE IT IS

+Gregory Clark Probably because Millie Jackson, unlike many rap " artists" never felt the need to cuss and swear and routinely describe women as "hoes" etc etc. Humourous rather than outright offensive and trashy.
