I built the T-12 and km84 mics.. I love the T-12 mic. Use these mics all of the time in my studio. I record all kinds of acoustic instruments and weird objects that iI use as percussion instruments..

Thank you for adding to the conversation. I think the T-series kits there are some serious bang for your buck, and you get the joy of building it yourself. They do make great kits.

I just built the T84-55 circuit with an RK47 capsule into an old GT55 mic body. I really like it so far. Could you tell me what differences I might hear with an RK12 capsule instead?

Awesome video Mark. So is the mic body you have on your mic the one from Aliexpress? It looks really nice for $49. T84 build would be cleaner than the T84 55?

Thanks Bill! It is from Aliexpress, but it was $130 shipped, with a shockmount. And yes, the t-84 would be cleaner. The t84-55 adds an extra couple of db of 2nd harmonics to give it a little more girth and what people often refer to as a more vintage sound.

Great video as always... was wondering if there was a source besides aliexpress to get the u47 style bodies...

Not that I know of. There was a guy selling them on Ebay, but they're also shipped from China so it may be the same people on Aliexpress.

Wow, do I 👀 Roswell Microphones?

Roswell is a sister company to MicParts, also founded by Matt McGlynn, and sells already built mics.

    I’m looking to build a $38 mic not a $380 one

Did you have a design in mind?

If you want a cheap mic with great quality, I would recommend looking a Neewer mic upgrades. The Neewer mic can be bought from Amazon for $20ish but the capsule can be replaced as well as the board if needed for cheap. A full replacement would cost around 40 to 70 dollars but just a capsule replacement would be 12 to 30 dollars.
