    Did this job today on my 2009 swift.
    I actually have 2 swifts, 1 of them is an 06 parts car and the other is my
    09 daily driver. Now i can highly recommend undo the tensioner pulley nut
    From under the car. Unless you have a long straight ring spanner your doomed
    So get it from under the car once you remove all the plastics as shown here.
    Undo the nut on the pulley, it has to be lose then undo the aircon tensioner bolt
    Then simply remove the belt.
    Alternater belt was a little tricky. The 06 model is the same as this video but my
    09 model has a "built-in tensioner" so its slightly different but easy to swap out.
    Anybody doing this job i advice is, Set you car up, pull the plastics off, and
    Study the set up, take some pictures of it on your phone for reference or even
    Draw a diagram. I only really had to use basic spanners for this job. Have a go.
    Dont be scared of it. Ohh and if the engine is dirty, rubber kitchen gloves to keep
    Your hands clean.
    This video helped me get it done so thank you

    0:27 - A HUGE mistake to disconnect the positive terminal (+) for the first time. If you accidentally touch the car's table with the key, you make a short electrical circuit that can be left with burns on your hands. The negative terminal (-) is disconnected for the first time.

    Cheers for the video. For those attempting, be careful with the 14mm nut on the pulley. I ended up stripping mine as it was extremely tight. Had to use a Dremel to cut it off. I'd recommend you go underneath the car and remove it that way.

      I’ve just done the same,what did you do to sort it?

    • @edenf7704
      @edenf7704 Před rokem +2

      @@irving-zissman4689 I had to cut through the rounded nut as well as the centre of pulley (where the nut sits). Unfortunately, this meant a new pulley (part 49160-70AA0) and obviously the nut.
      There is extremely limited space to manoeuvre, so use a Dremel with the Flexible Shaft attachment and cut from above, vertically. Perhaps there is an easier way. But with what I had and the seriously narrow space, this was all I could think of. All sorted after a gruelling few days. Make sure to wear safety goggles and cover the alternator if you go this route as you’ll get metal shavings flying about.

      @@edenf7704 Sounds like a job for a six point socket. And like you said maybe coming at it from underneath. Thanks for the head sup, just about to start this job myself.

    • @edenf7704
      @edenf7704 Před rokem +1

      @@PhoebeEtc There is no space to attach a socket on the nut, above or under. If I could do it again (properly), I’d go under the car and use a longer wrench for more torque. On another point, once you get it off and the subsequent belts, give the pulleys a spin and see if any bearings are bad. May as well while you’re there.

    Can you get to the tensioner on the air con belt from underneath? I tried getting at it from above but it was impossible ( 2015 swift sport)
