How to fit and adjust the alternator belt on a Suzuki Swift. Double overhead cam engine
Tools required 8 mm Allen key and a 12 mm spanner or socket.
A good strong pair of fingers - Jak na to + styl
Thanks for the advice, very helpful. My belt has gone slack so I had a quick look this evening, the two 12mm bolts were obvious but the 8 mm allen key location certainly wasn't. All set to give it a go in the morning. Cheers.
Glad it helped Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Just did the same job, superb video! For anyone with an AC unit aswell you need to remove that belt aswell so might replace it too whilst youre there.
The 8mm Allen key was impossible for me to remove from the top. Turned the steering wheel to the right and removed the archlining and the bolt is really easy to get to, dont need a jack.
Glad it helped Thanks for the great information👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Helped me do the belts on my 2004 Ignis. That bottom alternator bolt was a pain! - thank you for a the great video!
Thanks for the great comments 👍🏻👍🏻
Would be better to reach It from underneath?
Thanks mate you saved me a bit of money now I can go and buy and replace my own belt thanks alot
Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Hahaha..
Hi mate
Just had my belt ping off and I wasn't sure if the rad had blown aswell or what had happened, not knowing these cars. All hell broke loose, overheating and running like it was just about to end itself! 😄 I've worked in a garage but didn't have the energy to look properly... Quick watch of this to refresh a bit, still provides 5 mins of relief after 4 years!
Nice job and thanks. easy isn't though hey.. 😄👌
Nice work! Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Yea boi , after doing this myself today the only thing i seen missed was re-adjustying the tension after 5 minutes of run time & it is a little easier to get that 8MM allen with the right side wheel off other wise I must say many thanks mate!
Nice work! Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
awesome video! thanks for the help!!
Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Super stuff, thanks for this. My daughter just came home with the belt missing on her '06 model. I suspect bigger problems though as the alternator should spin freely by hand, is that right? Hers isn't, so... bugger.
new alternator needed,😩 Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Thanks this helped me a lot.
Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Very thankful video thank you brother
Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Thanks Mate
Worked pretty fine for me.
But i had to remove the wheel because the allen key screw wanted to screw with me.
Thanks for the great information👍🏻👍🏻🛠
I need to change my alternator, but this was still so helpful.
Great stuff, a lot of these jobs double up, a little information goes a long way, thanks for the great comments 👍🏻👍🏻
aaanton11 I found out today that it's better to get the alternator off from underneath. I also couldn't for the life of me get the allen bolt off. Gonna try again in the weekend with some jacking equipment.
TAHA YOU NEED TO FIX THE SQUEEKING.
Thanks mate. Mine just got ripped to shreds and i have an engine coolant leak because some flying debris got under my vehicle
Glad it helped Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Great video
Glad you enjoyed it Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Was wondering if you know the thread size and length of the bolts for the slider adjustment? Was replacing my belt last night for the 3rd time and while tightening the bolt sheared off 😒
sorry Morgan I don't off hand, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Many thanks!
You're welcome! Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Thanks for this
My pleasure! Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Thanks mate 😊
No problem 👍 Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
I liked the accent and the sound effects when you “ cracked “ the loose Allen bolt loose (not).
😂 Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
What tests do I do to check pullys are as they should be? Ie wiggle back n forth
You got it, smooth running, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
How much tension did you require? My belt slips occasionally, and no amount of adjusting the alternator position makes any difference.
You might need to replace the belt, 10mm of play in the belt should be ok, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Hi there Anton, I wonder if you know if the alternator/water pump belt is the same size as the compressor drive belt on the suzuki swift?
Also, which year is this suzuki? Mine is a 2006 1.3L, with air con so belts may be different!
if you go on amazon through this link put your registration number in it will tell you which belt you need, amzn.to/341Sj5a
Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
What year is that Swift as I think my daughters 2008 needs a bit more fiddling to get a new belt on. I think it needs something removed to thread belt round…
You might have more ancillaries on your vehicle if you have air-conditioning fitted possibly making it harder Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
i just failed to change the alternator belt on my suzuki liana, same M13 engine and setup as swift, because AC belt was still intact and Alternator belt goes behind AC belt on main engine pully ! which is under right engine mount, although i did removed mount using jack under engine but it was too much for me. so gave up and took her to workshop.
that's a shame, well done for trying, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
The allen key bolt on my Swift is so damn rusty, that there is no way, it is going to fit 🤬🤬🤬
Same with my 07 swift, I gave up and called the mobile mechanic once I saw I needed to remove my AC belt first to get to the alternator belt - and its in a parking lot and have to do it in the dark. However aaanton11 - great video and if I didn't have the AC belt this would have helped me easily. Thank you.
Thanks a lot. I don’t know the mm of de allen screw. Regards from Chile, southamerica!
Greetings Christofer, great to be reaching Chile, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠

will a 836 belt size fit and also how many pulleys should it go over, is it only 2?
There are a few different sizes depending on the model, the best bet is to get the 3 different sizes and take back the ones you don’t need👍🏻👍🏻
I think they mean does it go on the crank pulley too as you say it only goes on alternator and water pump
ok, my Suzuki swift has two separate belts, one for A/C and one for Alternator. Can you help with the sizes for me, please???
You will n need to call your local parts shop with your registration, they will know your numbers, thanks for the great comments 👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks
No problem Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Off topic, how can I cancel the gas delay on the zc31s.
First port of call is to clean the throttle body, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
The 833 belt I tried was way too short. I reckon the alternator must have been changed and the wheel is a bigger diameter. The belt is about 10 to 15 mm too short with the alternator slackened right off.
Bang a slightly bigger belt on there all will be okay Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Currently in the proces of changing both drive belts. and to be honest, what a sh*t job to do on this car. Belt tensioner is 1,5 inches away from a massive metal bar and the nut rounded of on the first try. 2 hours of my day thrown away. Let's try again tommorow...😒
Have a beer 🍺 all the bolts will become looser tomorrow, thanks for the great comments 👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Can you give me a number or size of this belt alternator ac.
You need to check your registration with the parts supplier, as there are a few different sizes, thanks for the comments 👍🏻👍🏻
Doesn't it need to go on the crank pulley too?
Like in the video Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
I have the same, is this with a chain or belt, it has plastic intake
you wont have a chain on the alternator, are you thinking cam belt, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
@@aaanton11 sorry i meant timing one
Is that also water pump belt?
yes it also powers the water pump, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
@@aaanton11 Ah i see, i think i must change the belt since my water pump dont work really well. I hope the belt is the only problem because water pump is kinda expensive here. Anyway thank you for sharing.
need part number for coils too
Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
what is the belt size
It depends on your model spec 👍🏻👍🏻
Brill
Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
what is the belt size please?
It depends on the specific engine and trim level, Thanks for watching 👍🏻👍🏻

@@nathanjohnston6713 thanks 🤗
