  • Surat, with a population of around 70 lakhs, produces around 1010 MLD of sewage daily. With an installed capacity of 1655.5 MLD, Surat Municipal Corporation treats the sewage through 11 STPs. We went to one of the Sewage treatment plants to see how Surat treats its sewage water. Here is a look.

    Add Solar Panels to increase your Power Generation to meet your plant operation requirements.
    The Sludge collected can be used by Municipal Corporations as manure for Public parks and Nursery.
    In some countries they are converting human feces to charcoal with some additives for cooking food.

      They probably use it as fertilzer because its expesive to get rid of it but its also not good for the environment and edible crops because this sludge might contain high level of heavy metals or pharmaceutical drugs released by people, industrial plants or old sewage pipelines.

    • @JayshreePatil-sx3ku
      @JayshreePatil-sx3ku Před 10 měsíci +1

      @Suman.Kushwahwater in power plants is used by turning it into steam (thermal power plants) or used to turn turbine directly when it falls from height ( hydro electric power plants) there is so such need of clean or pure water.
      **You do need clean and pure water in thermal power plants to increase its vaporization**

    • @JayshreePatil-sx3ku
      @JayshreePatil-sx3ku Před 10 měsíci

      @@meetgupta822as he said thermal the steam rotates the turbine so direct need of water to rotate turbine so you may use it that way but this is a plant made to serve another purpose let it do that😊

    even after treatment this water shouldnt be discharged in any river,divert them for building man made lakes and watering the trees and for agriculture in villages.dont discharge in the rivers.there should be no chance for river pollution.

    • @sanwalisood7507
      @sanwalisood7507 Před rokem +9

      Sewage treated water is safe to be released into the rivers. A very massive quantity of water is treated everyday, and I guess even after diverting it to other places, the water will be left. However, sewage treated water is completely safe for rivers and aquatic life. It's far much better than the untreated water. Moving water has lesser bacteria because it purifies by itself. So there's nothing to be worried about. 🙂
