I work with a lot of people with university degrees (mostly engineering) and they 100% buy this stuff because it's all they're presented with by the media that they consume. It doesn't matter that they don't see it IRL, because this is Texas and they live in suburban or rural areas. They rarely venture into Democratic hellscapes so it is easy for them to believe in a strawman reality. The Other has grown to be more than a group of people, it's an entire conglomeration of zipcodes, neighborhoods and multiple dangerous and nefarious people groups just a 20 minute drive away - close enough to be scary, and distant enough that you can like the individuals that you know IRL and still believe they're not representative of the group as a whole.
I had to move out and cut ties as much as I could with my family for that very reason. I honestly thought Jan 6th would wake them up to how terrifying the Trump movement had become, but they shrugged it off in a matter of *hours* before cycling between "It was an ANTIFA false flag" to "It wasn't that bad!" to "Can we just move on from that?!" in rapid succession.

An aquaintance of mine genuinely said that about Count Dankula when he came on info wars.....

If only conservatives were actually oppressed
I wish man.
I'm sure they even want that as well. Given how much they try to paint themselves as the victims.
When you're used to having things your way, any kind of push-back can be seen as oppression.
then they wouldn't want to conserve systems of oppression i imagine.
If they were actually oppressed, we may actually be able to make a better society.
Fox's classic shifting goal post "The election was stolen so the insurrection was justified. Now that we realise it wasn't justified, we think the people at the rally were actually antifa/FBI/false flag op. But even if they were real trump supporters, it wasn't that violent, most just had a nice little stroll through the barricades. And actually all their violence was kinda justified anyway"

And if it did, it wasn't that bad.
And if it was, that's not a big deal.
And if it is, that's not my fault.
And if it was, I didn't mean it.
And if I did, you deserved it."
The thing that keeps coming up is criticism of the inherent violence in the state and the carceral system, which Carlson only finds bad because it's aimed at fascists rather than black people
"Oh noes, it's terrible that they teargassed 'peacefully protesting' conservatives at the insurrection! That just incited them, it's unfair!" they say. They also say "Lol teargas them darker skinned people, that'll show them for protesting." Flagrant fucking hypocrites.

It’s a two way street isnt it?
The very few other time I've seen blatant lies like this by looking into the eyes without flinching, is in indian news media. Most major news media around the world usually have the minimum dignity to avoid blatant lies like this by cushioning it with ambiguous language, but this propaganda is a new low for USA media personality and company.

I like the fact that it’s called “What *really* happened” because it sort of implies that Tucker has been holding off on making an opinion until getting all the facts-which he absolutely hasn’t.
Kinda laughed a lil to much at how accurate this is
The lengths that conservatives are willing to go just to avoid saying "we were wrong" is so pathetic and makes them easy prey for grifters. What is so difficult about going "Trump was a scam, I fell for it, but I won't fall for it again"? Then we can move on. I'm wrong about all kinds of things all of the time. It's part of the learning process.
There has to be a version of the "Sunk Cost Fallacy" specifically applied to identity, so that the more you shriek and howl about how a movement has to be true or a person has to be damn near Messiah levels of greatness- the harder it is to admit that none of it was true, and that your so-called Messiah is a greedy shit stain. Uncle Ruckus especially if you know The Boondocks well enough...
Or "Aunt Jemima" for female versions of those terms. For example; people tend to call Candace Owens an "Uncle Tom," "Auntie Ruckus," "Aunt Jemima," "Sell-out," "Oreo," etc. Though Candace has actually called herself a "proud Uncle Tom" and said that she doesn't care about the black community calling her a sell-out. I personally have nothing against Candace or her political opinions; but I take issue with her attitude. Candace has an attitude which suggests that she believes she's better than other black people because she is a Republican. Candace acts like her shit doesn't stink and has a rather stuck-up, pompous, arrogant, and holier-than-thou attitude.
Don't get bogged down by local things, because Alexander sure isn't. The Austrian Burschenschaft, an institutioin that was sadly allowed to exist after WWII had hair cuts like that of Alexander. Fashos cut their hair like that.
Ah yes, tucker makes great news, so good that he gets all his interviews from conservative news outlets with no other interviews to challenge the idea that they may have been wrong.
His news is so good that his network's literal defense in court upon being sued for him lying all the time was that he only had an "entertainment", not a news-show and that no reasonable person would take anything he said as factual.
fascists do like hearing the other side - they like killing them and locking them up in camps
The last time he talked with someone on the opposite side he got destroyed so it's understandable why he doesn't want to do that.
@@HomoErectusIsAFunnyName Okay as an outsider I have to ask. Why is it you have channels that coddle your interviewees so much? Like there’s a reason why Ben Shapiro got bodied by a life long Tory when he dared to go on the still somewhat conservative (arguably) BBC. I can understand political biases with certain “news channels.” But man, the US takes the cake in that regard. If you don’t mind my saying so
@Jian Daugh Fox and OANN aren’t seen as reputable outside the US so I can’t blame them. Though if true stacking the deck like that is shitty.
This level of misinformation can't possibly be legal.
As long as you say its for "entertainment" and not actual news apparently it can. The USA sure is a fucked up place.
It isn't. And Tucker Carlson has been repeatedly put in Court. His lawyer team defence was, get this:
"*No reasonable person would take Tucker's word seriously*". And Tucker won the case.
I repeat... His own Lawyer said that No reasonable person should listen to him, and he left the court scot free.
He knows what he does is Borderline illegal, he knows that it brought him fame and a living at that... There is Zero reason for him to stop, because it's his job to make Unreasonable people listen to him
I mean it's pretty obvious that a whole lot of people do take him seriously due to the size of Fox news audience and the amount of sh*theads who post pro trump nonsense everywhere. So how about we call him F*cker Carlson, or Tucker Goebbles. He has to be one of the worst humans.

If they are violent and attack a government structure we SHOULD shoot the "protesters"
He's a bit confused, but the has the right idea.
A lot of the claims of mistreatment from the insurrectionists seem be be a case of sowing the wind and reaping the whirlwind, they were the ones who wanted a brutal security state, they just never considered that it would be them who would be subjected to it.
Wouldn't "Legacy Americans" really be better suited for referring to Indigenous Americans?
They were here long before colonists, so if anything they really are the real Legacy Americans. 🤔
That is silly, American in that context does not refer to a geographic area but rather to the polity of America and the people who constituted it. Those groups had adversarial relations and were alien to one another (I am sure some still view themselves as distinct and put upon by America, rather than being a part of it, even today).
Yes it would be, but people like Tucker Carlson never think about indigenous people except when it's politically advantageous to them. Also, I had never heard that ridiculous made-up term before and it made my blood boil lol. My mom's family has been in the U.S. since the 50s, but since they're not white, I'm sure that wouldn't be considered "long enough." 🙄
