When she smiles and gets that twinkle in her eyes, I see that little girl from Detroit I first saw on American Bandstand who said she wanted to rule the world. Nice to see she is still there.
I do love her music and her humour, and even after 30 years and all the appearances, interviews & documentaries, she still remains an " enigma " in every way....
You're right. And as a creative person myself, let me add this: as a creative person of her stature, it's her 'duty' to 'critique' a work 'fairly'... and she did just that... no more or less - and honestly. That's the way it 'should' be instead of being a people-pleaser, and politically correct doormat.
She is super bitchy of course, but she is also quite self-conscious and can be quite deprecating and funny which is a defence mechanism. She is probably one of the most famous women in the world, and also one of the most misunderstood, so she has developed this persona over many years.
it amazes me how many people are ignorant about Madonna's persona, too young to realize what that woman's done and achieved! Not everyone needs to be all nice and sweet, she is who she is and that is a legend! with a great sense of humor too
She was aging so beautifully…. And then. Of all the women who could have shown the way to an elegant older life, it was her. I feel so sad that she made the changes she made. Nobody is a bigger fan than I am. It’s great to see her look so elegant like this.
First time I've seen a full interview with her. Never considered her as being bright and intelligent, until now. She still looks great. Love her music, especially her early stuff.
Madonna is well-known for being intelligent, she's never been known as a "dumb girl" in the way of Marilyn Monroe or Paris Hilton or Britney Spears. I love how people can sound so damn smart when talking about Stanley Kubrick's movies for instance yet when it comes to Madonna, they suddenly become embarrassingly clueless. To have watched just one interview in full, one out of her numerous legendary appearances, and loudly announcing their uninformed opinion on Madonna...geez people are really idiots.
“A girl has to make a living” lmao, Madonna, by the time you released your first 5 albums you already made sure to never ever having to work for your bills.
It's really nice to see her here with her real face and expressions. This is the only interview I've ever seen her in where she seems like mostly a nice, normal person.
I love her - she's so well spoken yet sassy with her witty remarks. love you, Madge. A true individual who has worked her way up through hard work and individuality
It's easy for some people to hate Madonna. They throw in words like bitchy, egomaniac, self-centered, etc. but in the end if you think about it Madonna became a legend just by being herself. There is nothing pretentious about her. After more than three decades in show business, she remains true to herself. I think that is her greatest accomplishment.
@Miss S Melly So you said. I'd agree from watching more recent interviews. But from the above interview she came across well. Something seems to have gone somewhat amiss in the following years since this.
I like how the audience is gradually more involved to the point it feels like they're naturally part of the interview. Like they're not just a background, they're human beings who also play an important part in this entire deal. That happens very rarely. How Madonna asks the crowd about the deep desire for romantic love rather than just talk about herself - that's some great social and emotional skill. She's a very impressive person. Well-spoken, thoughtful, smart, witty, composed. Seems that her 30 or so years on top are well deserved.
Just always so impressed at how easy Graham Norton makes interviewing look when talking to the most difficult celebrities. He's like no one I've ever seen. He's peerless
In an interview the guys said they were very happy with Madonna reaction. And really you want a grown woman to jump about dolls dressed as her.At the end she actually said thank you.She has feelings lol she will not show it.
It’s really a sweet moment. She doesn’t know how to take complements and flatteries, but her smile and “thank you” really show that she’s genuinely happy. Actions speak louder than words
shes not being rude thats madonna anyone who has watched her for years will know her humour and how cold she is to a point shes a diva and thats why the gays love her shes teasing them do u think if she was all over her fans hugs and kisses she would be who she is!people are attracted to her because of her rawness and she doesnt bullshit shes straight to the point!!
I've never seen a guest speak for that long with no other guests on the couch. They gave her plenty of air time! I enjoyed it. I think she's getting nicer and nicer as she ages. I only wish I could age that well!
@@FloozyMcDoozy694 You don't get it? She's demanding perfection and to allways be the best. She's bound to step on someones toes because she speaks her mind and allways have to be on the edge.
I love how Madonna handled this interview. Her approach, intelligence and aura are naturally domineering that I feel like the interviewer is a bit apprehensive on how to formulate questions that wouldn't sound foolish. She warms up by making some jokes and it seems that she really love her fans by giving a side response to one of the audience who shouted when they should have to be quiet already. That's what I see in this show.
I liked this interview! Idk why everyone is saying she's so bitchy. She's just acting like typical Madonna. She can be condescending but at least she keeps it real. I can't stand when celebs turn on the fake charm for tv when you get the feeling that they're nothing like that off camera.
Graham is such a brilliant interviewer - doesn’t get star struck by anyone, always quick witted with his comments, and asks smart and probing questions without being rude.
Madonna is so amazing. What a successful way and an enlightening example. And what a voice! Superb musicality. Too bad - but it's not too late - that she never tried to record more classical tunes. She has the right voice for it (I specifically refer to a song I love, i.e. "This used to be my playground"). Magnificent and meaningful artist.

What Madonna did was recognised them as people, and celebrated them. This was at time where every gay men was seen as weird or perverts in the media.
Yes, she has always been an advocate for the gay community, back when it was "dangerous" for a mainstream artist to do so. She also got her start in the gay discos of New York. They loved her and she loves them.
