    I really liked the interview you did with Gavin McMillan. I would love some videos explaining the concepts he briefly developed regarding the position of the non dominant arm on serve and the internal shoulder rotation on forehand. He just talks about it so casually as if we knew biomechanics 😅

      Hi Jack, I am 65 myself, so I understand. My best advice is to work on your mobility. Lots of stretching and range of motion exercises will help your serve for sure! Best, John

      @@PerformancePlusTennis Maybe you can give me a tip, I have trouble taking my arm back behind my back when I serve, I do have a really strong first serve, and a decent second. When my first serve goes in, is nearly unreturnable

    Terrific instruction...thank you...weight shift and intension is so important...the addition for me is the arm 'slot' necessary to work in conjunction with balance and weight transfer...

    Very helpful! I won 1 and 0 in a third round of a tournament today and I hit about a dozen aces and about the same double faults. But my opponent said afterwards that he could not return my serve as it was always placed well and that my second serve was as good as my first. I credit YOU for this. Thank you

    In another video you gave me a really good pointer about waiting until you tossed the ball to bring your racket up, and it worked pretty well for me, i concentrate on my toss and then concentrate on the racket

    Hi John, this was an awesome lesson with lots of helpful tips. I have been trying to implement them since your video with MacMillan. Haven't had the breakthrough yet of feeling the serving arm is a passenger while the legs and body are the driving force to create effortless serving power but I am hoping I will get there with enough practice. Cheers. One small question, how do I ensure my back hip is lower than the front hip? Is it just from having the back heel lifted higher than front heel or its more of a combination of that plus the fact that the hips are rotated away from the net and upper body is tilted and rotated as well which all adds to create the hip angle?

      @PerformancePlusTennis  Před 3 měsíci

      Thanks so much for your feedback and question. The back hip will be slightly lower, just simply because you’re creating a slight angle naturally, as your shoulders angle back to approximately 45°… The hip has to do something otherwise you’d be bending exclusively at the waist, which is not a good thing. Let me know if you have additional questions. Thanks, John.

    Thank you for the video.
    I know every player is on the ball of their feet with lifted heel and it’s logical. But don’t you miss the extra movement/ power from the ankle going from flat feet to lifted ankle?

    When you begin the leg drive and push from the ground, are you pushing more towards the net? How do you land on your left foot with your right foot up? The balance might be the same between both feet but then to move forward is it first drive with left (back foot) and then drive with right (forward foot)? I've heard some people describe it like a cartwheel

    maybe some pointers for old people on so far as toss, and or how to get your racket swing proper behind your back for your serve

      Hello Jack, there is a video here on the channel for optimum racket drop… Be sure to review that lesson and let me know if you have questions. Thanks, John.

    I wondered why I couldn't copy the professionals, I didn't have equal weight on both feet.

    If you want to waste energy, eject up your body with the weight on the back foot. If you want to save some energy, do the ejecting up with the weight in both legs. But if you want to be efficient, do it with your weight in the front foot.

      Thanks for your comments and contribution to the video. Certainly the old-school serve was more off the front foot. Best, John.
