A mysterious doctor he doesn’t even know, stops him for a medical reason he doesn’t really know, tell me that doesn’t sound fishy at all. Even mini khabib saw him a eating and drinking sparkling water a night before. And to add to that, his demeanor when on the scale showed that he wasn’t serious enough about this, he didn’t even feel sorry for the weight miss. I didn’t say it’s 100% true but that’s what I’m going to believe unless you show me some credible stuff excluding what the UFC and Dana White says.

💯 UFC was getting a lot of backlash for doing Nate dirty with the Khamzat fight and knew he was going to get destroyed. They leveled the playing field for Nate against Tony and now all is well.

Back during Fight Island, Chim had 2 fights 8 days apart, he fought at 185lbs for the first match then was easily able to cut down to 170lbs within a week for the second fight. I love Khamzats tenacity and his ambition to be a champion. He loves this game, he lives it, it's in his dna and as a mma fan that's all we can ask for. With that said he has to learn how to act, have a little bit more class and respect for the sport he loves. Changing it to Nate vs Tony gives both of their careers a little more longevity. Both guys have a style of walking thru fire to put pressure and lay volume, but Khamzat and Jingliang throw major heat. If the card went ahead as planned, both of them might've had to hang it up
I honestly think that Chimaev, Dana, Diaz and Ferguson all came together and planned this. They decided that letting these two legends battle in the cage would be a much more legendary end to Diaz and possible Ferguson’s career. I am so glad things transpired the way they did and hopefully this is the case. If so, we will probably never know but all of their demeanor towards the situation leads me to believe that it is and if Khamzat took the metaphorical fall in this situation I like him even more.

I think Dana and the boys did some wheeling and dealing behind the scenes. The Diaz vs Chimaev fight wouldn't be good for the sport "if" Borz walked through him. I hope Holland and Chimaev and who knows who else made a lot of money for this to take place.... Is it worth it for Chimaev? We'll see, im sure he is assuming he'll walk through Holland. Even if he wins I would rather watch an Edward vrs Colby or Edward vrs Burns fight than him. Li is not an exciting fighter and honestly I didnt even knew who Rodriguez was before he was announced. Walker is what Chimaev could become if he is not careful: a derailed hype train. Overall very weak card for a numbered event.

I agree, lured us in with Khamzat Diaz hype, orcastrated the Holland altercation backstage, told Khamzat to miss weight for controversy sake then re-jigged the fights which are much more sppealing fron a competitive stand point, plus Tony vs Nate is a literal dream fight between two UFC legends. Pretty obvious Khamzat was fighting Holland the entire time and this was just a PR stunt to get people talking. I’m glad Diaz is fighting Ferguson instead though. Much fairer and more interesting fight between two of the OGs.
This is the most likely truth. It wasnt right and wasnt going to do either fighter any good other than getting a good payout. But the switch as many have already stated seems like the best possible outcome for the fighters and the fans and the UFC.

Chamaev's weight cuts got to him is all. He should be a middleweight, this was bound to happen at some point. Similar stuff happened to Khabib, who should have been welterweight.
I know that all fighters cut weight, but it seems like these Russians take it to extreme just to fight someone smaller than them. Even Oliveira who should be at welterweight only missed weight by .5 of a lb.
