I briefly dated a narcissist and thank God I figured him out very early on. I don’t want to date an emotionally unavailable and indifferent man and that’s why I ended it. Any woman that wants that needs to do the psychological work on herself and heal from childhood trauma as wanting a man like that usually stems from parental abuse/neglect. If you’re a healthy woman you treat yourself with love, respect and kindness and that’s how we expect to be treated also, not jumping through hoops and mind games, no thank you I’ll pass.

It's very hard to do this when somebody is young and gets into a relationship with somebody who tells them that their standards are too high and constantly gas lights them about what reality is.
The psychological manipulation that they do is very insidious.
This is why we need education for young people on how to have healthy relationships.

    Great podcast!
I had to take voicemails to my therapist because i couldn't say anything "bad" about my ex (who also was a therapist) because he had me trained so well. When she listened to his long, angry and rambling voicemails where he degraded me and lifted himself up she told me he was a perfectionist, narcissist and likely sociopath (then she told me not to share that with him as she was afraid of repercussions since they moved in the same circles)

You waste time trying to fix someone else over fixing yourself, which is you dodging your problems. Work on respecting yourself and being an adult and holding yourself accountable. You are responsible for how you are treated and how you treat other's. One thing I don't agree with is the narcisisst is stronger or more interesting because it is fake and you definitely won't end up with a warrior, or on the other hand an amazing mother for your children.

    • @LovingLightx
      @LovingLightx Před měsícem +5

I totally agree it all starts with healing ourselves and becoming better versions. If you want mind games, emotional abuse and indifference then dating a narcissist is an ideal partner. Definitely the narcissist is not stronger or more interesting, they are very insecure and boring once the love bombing wears off. Being with someone who has done the work and still learning, someone authentic is so much better and more rewarding.

Yeah, I am attracted by narcissist traits and in fact I felt heavily for a man Who I discovered It Is.
      BUT
He Is handsome from my perspective and I noticed ( I know It could sounds crazy ) that when he Is in social environment, especially his one ( he Is a musician ), he looks way more attractive.
So It seemed a fake attractivness because when I looked at some selfie he send me, he's not particularly good looking. Even if I like him a lot.
He has strong jaw line, so maybe Is one factor of attraction.
He's also healthy, has a delicious smell, even when he sweat... maybe I sensed his good genes 😅
As a person he's kind a child man, he makes a lot of funny faces and jokes. He loves babies. So I felt for that.
But on a daily basis is quite boring and has low creativity...and It Is very strange for a person who live surrounded by artists.
I love him 😅 and I can't help but I sould have know that a man like this can't commit, even for a season.

52:42 *🌶️ Shares a personal anecdote to illustrate irrational narcissistic rage over trivial matters, like a disagreement over condiments, which escalates to personal attacks.*
54:32 *❓ Grannon debates whether a true disorder must involve personal suffering, suggesting that narcissists may not feel traditional distress but suffer when deprived of attention or admiration.*
56:08 *🤐 He notes that narcissists may apologize, but their apologies are often performative and not indicative of genuine remorse or intent to change behavior.*
58:09 *🔄 Observes that narcissism appears equally among men and women, challenging past beliefs that it was predominantly a male trait.*

I’m attracted to strength. People that do not recognize the personal sovereignty of others (male or female) have a weak and fragile sense of self. Patriarchy, for example, is obsessed with authority and control over women, which is based on an unhealed inferiority complex. It is a grandiose delusional worldview. In contrast, feminism believes in sovereignty for all. A worldview where some are entitled to dominate others is not sustainable; hence, we as a species are evolving past this. Evolution rewards balance ☯️.

I was in that phase for years (few wrong relationships 😅) and than one special forces guy literally put the baby inside me 😂 it was 13 years ago and I became wiser and stop searching.... I would like to find different type of man who would be wonderful father to my son.... I was single for 12 years and who tricked me and looked like this kind of man? NPD guy 😳 that was my biggest mistake and now I enjoy my single life again, thankfully healed ❤ it's not easy to find compatable partner and too many people stay in bad relationships because they are afraid to be alone 😔 I can understand them, especially if our "time for baby" clicking.
