Thank you guys so much for this, you really knocked it out of the park for your first electric build. It’s a beautiful instrument!
Thanks for being willingly do this with us!
I want a tele now
Are you gonna get a Trainwreck?
Big Sound + Big Playing = Rhett’s kickass Tidalcaster! @driftwoodguitars you guys are awesome! I want one now :)
Its easy for him hes the coolest guy you'll ever meet, he's so genuine
Hope that Rhett does a proper review on his channel? The natural resonances produced by this guitar are really intriguing. The platform for the pickups makes a difference. The guitar seems to have its own thing as far as the sound? Didn’t come across as a total Tele clone.
Love that you guys are pushing at the boundaries of materials, but keeping a traditional vibe.
Keep pushing!
Can't wait to see a video from Rhett about it. I've loved watching the process of building it.
My favorite nugget of Rhett Shull vids is that he always jams little known Stones groove monster 'Slave'
It’s my favorite stones song.
So happy for you guys that this worked out so good!
As he was talking about hitting 14K subscribers, I literally saw the count tick up from 14.2 to 14.3. Great work guys! You're living my dream!
You guys are making great content for anyone who builds, repairs or plays guitar. Thank you.
Absolutely amazing. Congratulations Driftwood and Rhett.
The guitar came out amazing guys! Can’t wait to see the progression of your instruments.
It's really cool you guys took us all on your trip. When I just started watching your content, you were just over 5k, having people from Rhett Shull's channel checking out your content would most likely up those numbers too. In a couple of years from now, you will be looking back thinking about how happy you where with 14k being at a totally different number. The number doesn't really matter, it's the fun you have while doing it.
Looks and sounds fantastic. Great work, guys!
I love how he designed it and all the small details he put in to it that made a big difference.awesome job
Happy for you guys :) I have enjoyed this adventure of yours
Sounds fantastic, both acoustically and plugged in. Beautiful work!!!
That was so awesome, as are you guys! Great job on your channel and your skills are so good while you both remain so grounded and modest! Many blessings to you both and I look forward to seeing you grow as a company! Peace!
Just want to say, keep up the good work. You are currently one of my favorite youtube channels, I watch a-lot of guitar content building being my favorite.
It was really great to see you give that guitar to Rhett. Your expressions were priceless.
These video's were great - the entire series, and you pulled off an amazing sounding guitar. I am excited to see what you do in the future.
Beautiful guitar and the amp sounds amazing! I wish you both all the success in the world, you guys seem like great people.
Really enjoyed this series, thanks guys from the UK. 🎶
He was always going to love it.
Can you please do more build episodes?!? Rhett’s always amazing!
Nice to see Rhett on your channel and seeing him play the Guitar for the first time ,and also to watch your channel grow with awesome content love everything you guys have done so far
Its a shame Namm was a bust ,Im working on getting my Guitar repair Business Legit been doing it for years by word of Mouth but need to start advertising especially so I can get into Namm next year hopefully
Guitar sounds amazing, enjoyed the journey with this guitar and hope to hear some updates from Rhett in the future about it. Keep up the good content guys!
Wow, Amazing build. Sounds killer
A custom built guitar and amp together. They both sound great. Your guitar build is beautiful and sounds wonderful.
Beautiful work
BEAUTIFUL JOB!
Man that thing sounds SO SICK! I've never heard a guitar with such a deep growly snap to it. Well done bro, that's a win on a win.
Here’s an idea. Try adding a piezo into the D-tube to see what you get out of it.
That sound man. I wasnt expecting that tone. Unbelievable sound and roundness. Thats a ringer
That was sooo awesome!! You guys hit one over the top!! :)
Thanks for letting us all tag along on this journey, guys…it’s been fun. I love listening to great electric guitars (and players), and although my focus is strictly on building acoustic guitars, I absolutely appreciate what you’ve done here. I don’t subscribe to many CZcams channels, but I find all of your content so enjoyable, that I decided to be one of the 14k+ Driftwood (guit)Army. My shop is a little over 100 miles from yours…just across the Florida/Alabama line…so one day I think I’ll make the short drive and meet you two in person.
joel
Thanks, Joel! Comments like this keep us going. We’d love to meet you sometime!
That guitar sounds amazing! I love the P90 sound, in particular. Great job!!!
It’s a beautiful instrument for sure! sweet tones oh man
I like this vlog format.
It sounded amazing!
Fantastic guitar! The natural projection on that... Whew!
That guitar sounds alive!!
I've always ever since I've started guitar had the same fundamental beliefs you guys have about how to build a guitar. I am 100% purchasing one with the idea of a electric guitar built with acoustic principals.
10:19 The proud Papa giving away his daughter to a right axeman of the highest caliber! 😍 Love that you and Matt are taking us along on this journey - not just location-wise, but the refinement process of what appears to be a stellar guitar. This is pure gold guys!! Thank you and all the best in your endeavors!!!
your dad - daugther analogy is disgusting wtf?
@@benja1378 Really? Why?

Amp is awesome.. Rhett makes that Guitar sing nicely.. Nice job Chris & Matt..
Super cool guitar. Congrats Rhett!
Sounds (even on Mobil) and looks soooo cool and beautiful.
How awesome to have your amp get tested by Rhett too. Congrats on the awesome living example of making the world a more beautiful place without being super worried about money.
Stunning 😍
Congrats on 14k!
Lovely guitar guys! love the flush control plate idea, super classy :)
Such a nice guitar. Good job.
Haven't heard Rhett play with hair like that in a long time. Nice rig, too. Sounded like it was inspirational.
Awesome amp and that tele is a big surprise, could be the pair of the year.
Thank you guys! It is a pleasure watching you. Also, you guys are really quality musicians! I own a number of boutique acoustic guitars . The guitars you have shown and played sound as good as any of the ones I own . Ryan and so forth…
Love the video. Rhett made it rock, no surprise. It is an amazing guitar.
Wow....woww...that's the only thing that Rhett can only said.
For me, that means the guitar was so awesome.
Hopin that u guys can do more vids on electric, and hoping someday I can play one of your build.
Keep on rockin man 🙏🤘🤘
I love the dual finish.
That Trainwreck clone sounds amazing!
Beautiful guitar gentlemen! I didn't see the t-shirt link you mentioned... I'll catch it on the next round. And congrats on selling out your first batch of Tidalcaster guitars. There are going to be A LOT of happy players out there when they are released into the wild.
This is the beginning of something beautiful... congrats pals. Godbless.
that is one good looking (and sounding) guitar. Dang!
Nice work fellas!! Psyche is high!
Thank you Guys loved following you over here in England going to enjoy more of your channel thank you very much
Awesome! Thank you!
Thanks Driftwood ⚓️. Dead Nuts!!! That’s what I’m taking about! 😎
Great video. The guitar is amazing.
Also, when you got to Rhett’s and opened the door and said “Hello?!”, it immediately took me back to when we used to hang out in high school.
Keep up the good work dude.
Heck yeah man! Those were the days.
such a fantastic channel . i have never been soo eagerly waiting for some video to get uploaded except for if its a giveaway announcement video..lol. u guyz r doing an amazing work. the 3k old gtr is still my fav. keep up guyz.
Tone forever, guitar and amp heaven
I only found your channel about two weeks ago and have been following the 3000 Year Old Guitar build. I am loving the channel. What I like about your design values is the assertion that to be good plugged in, an electric guitar also needs to be superb acoustically and superb acoustically first. I've been a player, not a builder for nearly 50 years and was coached by a great teacher early in my life to always audition electrics unplugged first. That process has never let me down and for the few that I bought over the internet without playing them first, I have been both lucky and not. Same make and same model shipped the same week can sound very different acoustically.
This is a beautiful looking instrument that sounds great and from this great distance sounds amazing. No relic fakery and I'm really impressed. Perhaps someday you can sell one to a certain fellow in Canada Thank you for the incredible work
This axe really sounds great !
Beautiful guitar..both sound killer…It needs to go out on the road.
I think for your first electric build you hit it out of the park. That guitar will be very special to Rhett being #1 and acutally a Beta guitar as you are already talking about making a few changes to the next builds. Congrats on a beautiful looking and very resonant sounding first build, and that amp sounded killer!
headstock design is fantastic, man
the combination of pickups, sustain, neck joint and a very wide range amp, create a beautiful sonic template for Rhett, he forgot in the video the role of the sustain the neck joint and volume in how the overall signal chain sustain is impact. this is an absolute beautiful creation your guys! congrats
Nice guitar AND Amp. very nice Job guys.
That amp is ridiculously good! So is the guitar!!
Thumbs up fo sho. Great episode.
Hey! I know David! (Gump reprazent!) He's done some work for me. He's built a handful of custom amps for some players around here and they are always blown away with his stuff. Very rad to see him on YT. David, if you see this, WHAT UP!!!
Awesome! We’re going to do a special video about the amp because it deserves a much longer look. Hoping to get David on the phone for it.
Long time no see. I hope to be doing a follow-up video with them. I hope things have been well with you.
@@davidedwards7172 I been good! Hope you've been well!
I've had my ups and downs. But overall still doing pretty well, all things considered.
@@davidedwards7172 Good to hear, man!
That guitar/amp combination sounds sick. I'd love to see it stress tested in a studio situation where the amp can be gunned and play with the resonance of the guitar.
thank you
Looks awesome. I would love to be able to play it for myself. I always like to play guitars in a clean amp to really hear the true tones . And if you wire the pickup straight to the output jack bypassing pots it's amazing the extra tone and volume you get .Try it .
"How much it means to make something and have that go on in the world and mean something to someone else" That's it exactly.
Smokin guitar 🎸. Loooooove that amp too
Holy eargasm, Batman! Chris, it's blatantly obvious you craft some of THE MOST stunning guitars in the world, and that applies to your acoustics AND electrics now.. but your devotion and passion regarding innovation, voicing techniques, and overall attention to every detail, has resulted in astonishing tone, beautifully-resonate harmonic characteristics, and certain tonal aspects that are limited to an extremely exclusive group of highly sought after guitars! Seriously Chris and Matt, you guys are creating something special.. and I feel like I've understated its significance. You both should feel incredibly proud of what you've accomplished, and prepare for where it will potentially take you!
The amp you were given on the way to Rhett's is killer! Sounds great and looks super cool!
Sending peace & love from Missouri -Todd
That’s incredibly kind. Thank you so much.
Great tones! That would be what I call an "Iced tea Tele". The burst looks like iced tea. Nice.
yes thats brilliant haha it really does look like ice tea
I think its a great sounding and a great looking guitar.
it got nice sustain also!
Why no truss? Great sounding & looking guitar. Love the flush with the body control plate.
First congrats on the fantastic building on the guitar, I haven't watched many of your videos but did cruise thru some of the build, I was interested and impressed in your thoughts of the neck resonance and your comments on the differences between acoustic and electric specifically on how you "make" the body of the acoustic sing, my opinion is that on an electric the body construction does make a difference and with your skills on the acoustic side if you took some of that same approach on an electric body coupled with that neck you would have something really special- not to take anything away from your current build ...
I really enjoyed this build and your willingness to try new things. I am considering the d tube or similar myself.Do you mind sharing rhett's thoughts on improvements he had?
Great style, tone and acoustic properties. Hmmm, you could be onto something, lads!
Looked like Rhett was enjoying the guitar(and jealous of that amazing Trainwreck clone, he’ll probably be getting one soon 😂) It sounded awesome! 🎸🔊
Very sweet! I would add DeArmond pickup from Curtis Novak on the neck, Pull Pot TB, through body block and Tremelo, this would bring the harmonic range even further through the body and neck really step up its magic!
Guitar sounds as good as it looks!
it would be interesting to change the neck (classic and wiht d-tube) on the same body to "measure" the impact of the tbone joint on the resonance
Not sure about not having a truss rod but truly only time will tell.
