Markahuasi, Peru

Markahuasi is a rock forest at 3,920 m elevation, located near the town of San Pedro de Casta, at a distance of about 88 km from Lima, Perú. To reach Markahuasi, travel to Chosica, 45 km east of Lima. Then, north to Casta, along the Santa Eulalia river valley. The trek from Casta to Markahuasi can be done on foot or horseback, requiring about 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on the chosen route. Hiring a guide in Casta is highly recommended.
