I flew with Etihad business Zurich to Kuala Lumpur in Nov this year. I enjoyed the flight a lot and I have no complains whatsoever with the crew. The meals were great, the drinks as well. The inflight service was very good. My seat facing forward was comfortable. The only issue I had was the Abu Dhabi business lounge, it was full to the top and only a few seats were comfortable.

Kevin, I worked in Dubai for 4 years, DXB and EK, were the airport and airline of choice. A couple of times I traveled out of AUH… really bad to say the least. As usual I love your video and review. I used enjoyed premium cabins without babies… the golden aviation days are over. Phillip Gachet (EK Product Guru) would enjoy your points of view. Please whenever able you must take a ride on EK. I just transited Abu Dhabi from Zurich to Kuala Lumpur. My impressions from the messy airport are exactly the same as you mentioned. I also agree with your description of the business class seat. Odd was also the lack of privacy, compared to other business classes. The food I had was quite good, especially the "sambal sea bass" I had on the way to KL was one of the best airline dishes I ever had. disappointing is the wine selection; it shows clearly the fundamental problem of Etihad: they try to be a premium boutique airline, but they economise so much that pretension and reality still produce a visible gap.

Your videos are amazing! And I agree. Every time I fly through AUH, I'm baffled by their mediocre lounge filled to brim with couch sleepers especially in the later evening... I don't think we can expect any progress until that terminal issue is sorted which is a shame😬

Kevin, I'm sure you know the Midfield Terminal has now been open for a couple of months, so I'd love to see you do a review out of there! I haven't personally visited any Etihad lounges there, though I have been to the (currently) only Priority Pass lounge there, the Pearl Lounge, which is a bit disappointing imo. However I did visit the Business Lounge in the old terminal a few times and I have to say I didn't find it too bad, though it was never too crowded when I went. Now that their airport has been elevated to the level of their competitors, I think Etihad truly has a golden opportunity to re-emerge as a powerful force once again in the Middle East; however time will tell. I have them booked from Muscat to Spain this summer and find they offer lower fares than many competitors save Turkish and have a solid hard product on their 787 to compliment the amazing airport

I recently flew Frankfurt to Singapore via AD & i didn't actually think the business class price was worth it. Seat cushioning was thin & uncomfortable & I almost feel that since Covid standards have lowered for business class.

I wanted to add a little update. Recently watched an Etihad review (let's just call it a promotion at this point) by Tiezheng. l won't mention the channel name deliberately. Anyway, he stated that "Etihad have a strict filming policy," and because of this (he is a resident of UAE), he requested to film on board prior to boarding. Of COURSE, this was granted, and with it came all the VIP treatment, priority boarding to get all the best angles, extra attentive cabin crew attending to him, fun hang outs in the galley Sam style with attractive FA and the list goes on. He still tried to add some "constructive criticism" about the food or whatever, but overall, it was in no way a true representation of what the regular passenger would experience. The reason l mentioned it is because of your HONEST content, watching that particular video was a stark contrast to your experiences, and while the content creator is very funny, the video just showed that unsponsored content is rare so keep up the great work Kevin 👌

I agree the airport needs to be improved, although the new terminal is finished I'm not completely sure if its gonna be open anytime soon. As it's been more the 90% complete since 2019.

Thanks for the honest review of Etihad. Like Emirates, I always assumed Etihad provided a similar high level of service-so thanks for the heads-up on their mediocre, at best, service offered both at their Abu Dhabi hub and on-board. Once again, another great video but since you DO request feedback on how to improve your videos-here's mine : it would be great if you can either reformat that disclaimer or get rid of it all together. Having said that, you do create honest, informative and entertaining content so please keep them coming - Thanks !!

Never assume lol. I have never been so disappointed as I was flying Emirates BC. Cold food on 2 flights. A380 felt like you were on a conveyor belt when doing service. 777 config is not acceptable in today's BC.
In 2 months I took a number of BC flights and this was how I found them.
Qantas came out on top. I was surprised if I'm honest. They cop it big time in Australia. Great food, seat food.
Turkish - Amazing. Flip of coin between them and Qantas.
Emirates as per my comments.
Singapore Airlines A350 - Seats were the most uncomfortable seat I've been on. We fly BC to get sleep. Not in these seats. Food just ok. Staff were robotic and aloof.
I was shocked by how it turned out.
Pre covid I loved Malaysisan and Garuda. Everything is always good and on point. But still not as good as Qantas or Turkish.
@carolinelane9599 To each their own- the SQ seat is one of my favorites and one of the two seats I’ve ever flown on that I can sleep properly on haha.

Excellent review. I fully agree the AUH hub and it's business lounge is awful. It's literally the same terminal I transited through as a 5 year old.. 30 years ago! For a layover longer than 3 hours I think adding 100 usd to upgrade to the first class lounge might almost be worth it.

I lived in abu dhabi for six years until around 2013 and find it hilarious how little the airport has changed. Knowing how long it takes to build anything over there, by the time the new terminal opens, I will be dead

I reckon 5 years with Covid in there counts for at least 10 years tenure lol. What he’s done with Etihad over the past few years though does make a transition to RIA for him a semi-logical next step.

I still don't get the "Budget Luxury" title on the thumbnail. Was the ticket literally cheap or did the reviewer feel shortchanged for the amount he paid which would mean the price was not worth it?
I agree with the sentiments about AUH having transitted there 10x in the past year. This is hardly within Etihad's control and shouldn't be scored against the airline (or any airline in future reviews).

The exact fare that I paid is in the description (as with all of my videos). I will allow you to make your own conclusions about "Budget Luxury"... for me, it's a nice (not great) experience with a lower fare.
As for the airport, Etihad is 100% owned by the Government of Abu Dhabi. Abu Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC) is the sole operator of Abu Dhabi International Airport. ADAC is 100% owned by the Government of Abu Dhabi. So, yes- the airport's condition (and surely Etihad's Lounge) and the airline are related. For future reviews, if the airline is the sole operator of the terminal (a la BA at JFK T7) or the airline and the airport have the exact same owner, it's more than fair to consider the airport/facility in the score. Harsh score for Etihad... I've flown with them a lot and their terminal in Abu Dhabi and their lounge there is my biggest complaint about them. They need to open their new terminal asap for sure!

Fantastic description of the boiling urinal. I mean the way you described it made me feel like I was actually there! Anyways, are you still planning to go to Hong Kong now that they are easing the quarantine requirements? I was born there and I still keep track of HK news. Personally, I won't suggest going there. There are just way too many better places to visit in South Asia.

Not sure about this specific flight/airport. But generally with stairs at the door, they'll be lifted up to door 1R with a Handicap truck- similar to a catering truck that raises up to the level of the plane. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻

I like your straightforward and honest reviews! But honestly, since you arrived at 11 PM and had to hang around for about 3 or 4 hours, why not just pay a few dollars and pick out a nice luxury hotel and spend the night (or two) in Abu Dhabi. And then begin the delightful journey onward, including a visit to that fabulous steamy hot shower room! 😂
I’d rather spend those few dollars at the destination 😂. Some years ago I did do a stopover in Abu Dhabi with the free Etihad night and it was nice, but not necessary again. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
