  • This compact drone can be easily folded flat for storage in your pocket. Comes with 720p HD camera with FPV. Find it here and use 5% off coupon code GRCT49 goo.gl/nYc9id

    Pros
    - All arms easily fold and extend for excellent portability. It makes for a very small flat and light camera quadcopter that can easily fit in even a shirt pocket.
    - 720p HD FPV video is viewed and recorded on your phone using the GoolRC app.
    - Altitude hold, one key return, and headless mode.
    - Can be controlled either via its provided controller or via the GoolRC app available on Google Play here goo.gl/oYm3Vi or iTunes here goo.gl/erjTnV
    Cons
    - Slide controller is difficult to operate while simultaneously viewing FPV video on your smartphone. It's much easier to use your phone to fly this when using it as a selfie drone.
    - Relatively short flight time of under 4 minutes. Quadcopter starts descending when its battery gets low.
    - Battery is built into the quadcopter. Youwill need to use a power bank to recharge it if you want to keep flying in the field.

Picked one of these up. However can't seem to get the video/camera view to show up on the phone/app. Tried 2 different phoones. The app controls the drone fine, jsut cant see any video from the camera. Any ideas?

Is the Eachine E57 and the JJRC T49 the same drone? The specs, layout and design is 190% similar to the other. Great drone for carrying around. ;-)

Seeing so many quadcopters with app control... Why they don't make an USB OTG or Bluetooth controllers to be used with their app?
Or maybe combine a 5.8GHz video receiver on the controller to be connected to the cellphone via USB OTG or other video output connector like AV cables or HDMI?
    That's quite puzzling.

    • @BlackCatRedScarf
      @BlackCatRedScarf Před 7 lety

MyBigThing2010 You are overthinking in some parts and didn't understand other parts.
The Bluetooth is usually a short range signal, why would ever think about using it to control an outdoor drone directly? It suppose to be only to link the controller and the cellphone as described.
Not really sure if you ever used some Bluetooth equipments, but some are fairly long range and are used to transmit fairly complex data and could be easily used to control a drone. Actually, I already saw couple fairly success implementations of Bluetooth on smaller planes and it got a similar or better range than some small quadcopters controllers (reaching 40 meters in open space wasn't uncommon), but the Wi-Fi is much simpler solution.
About the USB OTG, it isn't a complicated implementation neither. If you search properly, it's a very stable standard available on almost any Android cellphone for a variety of applications, from HID to cameras. Basically, what you would need is to use an equipment that uses some of the standard drivers already present on Android devices, read the the input values and send it to the variables that are present on the virtual joysticks already implemented in the app. Even the Bluetooth controllers could use the same method, because they already use the standard drivers on Android (even some iOS devices seems to operate that way too).
In other words, it won't require a plethora of drivers and apps, but it should be as easy as plugging a mouse or keyboard on a PC. It wouldn't be much different from what we got in some apps like console emulators in terms of input data acquisition.
In terms of price, it shouldn't increase and even if it increase, the free market will do the natural selection, so I would bother much about the pricing yet. Besides, how much actually cost a HID made in China? Not exactly much.

      MyBigThing2010
40 meters can be a good range, it's all relative to the type of application you are looking for, like... Why do I need more than 40 meter on a object than I cannot see properly, like a small plane or an indoor plane?
Certainly you aren't gifted with a sharp mind but quite quick fingers to type such mess, aren't you?
By the way, if it isn't worth your time... Why do you type or discuss then, huh my dear big boy?
Don't bother answering that too, because I don't want waste your precious time... Unless you are feeling quite conflicted with your last judgement.
Have a nice day, my dear. ;)

@@Quadcopter101 Alright. So does that mean i should be ok getting this instead if JJRC. Actually just ordered this from aliexpress and the seller "JJRC Official Store" (Not sure if he's actually official) was selling both by saying GOOLRC is just rebranded by JJRC and no other difference. So i think u seem quite justified regarding that 3rd party manufacturer which is very common in China. The seller was a bit off grid in saying JJRC rebranded GOOLRC

Don't think I like this one too much. Very short flight time and built in battery. Then transmitter don't have a phone holder. Plus seems like very short range. There are better drones out there in this near $40 price range. That said I will pass on this one.
