    Wow, that second one is cool!
    The only alteration I would do is ether spray it lightly white (so light can still pass through) or sand tubes (if they are acrylic) to "hide" LED electronics better. You could also wrap them in fishing line, to give them ridged look (like plasmagun coil)

    I skipped this video since I don't ever run/play a game in a futuristic setting. Then I saw the lit up towers in a different video, and and had to find where u made these.
    Amazing!
    Now I just need to figure out how to incorporate sweet light up generators into a fantasy setting!
    Keep up the amazing work.

    Some cooking wax paper wrapped around the pillars would diffuse the LEDs and disguise them as LEDs as well!

  • @Penjulum
    @Penjulum Před 4 lety

    *IDEA* _:::_ For the bottom you could add a hinged _'top'_ using a strip of fabric for the hinge and a hidden latch inside secured with a toothpick pocked in from the outside with a decorative something disguising it.

  • @SilentSooYun
    @SilentSooYun Před 6 lety +3

    This is just brilliant! Cheap, simple, and effective. I'm also a sucker for bits that light up my game table :)
    One thing I might have done differently, though, is inverted the "Reactor" light, hiding the wire with a bit of straw. That way it would look like the light is pulsing down and feeding the "Shield Generators". I would probably also frost the plastic with a light sanding and/or glue thin bands of card around the tubes to hide their true nature as repurposed fairy lights :)

    • @WylochsArmory

    I get the concern over GW terrain, but I will also say, regardless of watching your crafting vids I still own my share of GW brand scenery.
    I like what you and so many other crafters out there do. I have recently found Bards Craft here on CZcams. My son likes his stuff because it's simple and we have a lot of items he uses at home.
    I especially like the idea of being able to expand and have unique pieces to accompany current terrain. Keep it up.

      The fact that hobbyist have to walk on egg-shells like this is in order not to invite the wrath of a plastic-selling brand is an ominous sign for the hobby. I don't know what GM's been drinking, but they should quit it ASAP before it entirely poisons their public away from their litigious ass.

    For the gears (although it is less "crafting") you could use some toy gears; they have sets of them which are big and chunky and made of bright colored plastic. Those would be immediately easy to use, bulky and chunky, and might save some time. But, not as crafty and obviously more expensive.

    Quick tip for scoring card stock/ chipboard (as done for the square tubes): Don't.
    Well, do... sorta... but don't use a blade. Instead use a dull instrument such as a (dead) ballpoint pen or the back of the tip of a butter knife (I use a clay sculpting tool). Press hard & crease your material as opposed to cutting it. Gives you a nicer finished corner, & can be done either on the inside or outside of your piece resulting in slightly different amounts of "sharpness". Unless of course the open/ butted edge look is what you're going for, then yeah... just ignore this tip & score away. :)

      Any sort of spray primer will work fine.
      I was just trying to point out that you DON'T want to use plain acrylic paint. You need to use some kind of primer.
      The kind I used also happened to be matte finish, and black. That saves me a few steps. It was also cheap.

    Nice Video. But I would really like Fantasy themed crafts that Can be used for DnD to come back
    (I know you Said this could be used for DnD, but from my Point of view, mechanicical machines don't fit in an DnD atmosphere. Will you make non futuristic, fantasy themed Videos again?

    • @WylochsArmory
      @WylochsArmory  Před 6 lety

      They definitely fit! Dwarven architecture? Gnome tinkerers? Crazy experimental wizards? Or aside from that, any sort of steampunk setting like Eberron? Definitely fits a D&D atmosphere!
      That said, yes I will continue to mix things up, just depending on the mood I'm in. For example the Baleful Realmgate (the episode just before this one) was a fantasy-inspired build.
      So yes, I will be doing fantasy pieces, but also, don't be surprised that I will also continue to do futuristic scenery as well. I like both, and will continue to do both!
