dear readers, please disregard my negative comment about andrzej's pianism. i listened more carefully and he does play this piece with the use of dynamics when appropriate. his performance was outstanding in every way!!!

Mikrofony są jak zwykle na tym konkursie źle ustawione. Brakuje mikrofonów zbierających
tylko fortepian. Można porównać fortepian z oklaskami, które są w tej samej dynamice i przestrzeni.

i have listened to this piece by andrzej wiercinski a number of times since my other posts. there are almost no dynamics in his version. it is played almost completely forte if not fortissimo to my ear. i have also changed my opinion regarding the pianos assuming the recording equipment was the same and equally placed which it likely was. in my opinion, the yamaha concert grand has a better tone than this hamburg D and it's projection of sound is equal to that of the steinway. on an unrelated and superficial note (sorry), andrzej has model good looks and certainly would take the prize on that.

his dynamic range is terrible, but he is able to texture very well. it seems like a classic case of a pianist trying to make every note sing but who doesn't have the technical mastery to do so while playing softer than a mezzo forte. to his credit, the piece sounds great, and its always better to play louder and fuller than softer and duller.
It’s either the recording equipment or this particular piano. It almost sounds as if the hammers have been needled (which he may very well have had done given that there isn’t any dynamic range in the performance). Kissin’s performance of this at BBC Proms on the Steinway was magnificent. Having said that, Yamahas do have a more crisp, tinny sound to them which is more suited to this piece.

조성진의 폴로네이즈는 해석이 아름답고 섬세하다. 반면 wiercinskiz는 몇 번의 실수가 있었음에도 A.W 의 해석은 여리면서 동시에 웅장한 느낌을 주고 여운을 주는스타일이라 개인적으로는 더 마음에 들고 감동이 된다. 막귀라 그래도 할 수 없음.

Skąd taki mały słyszalny zakres dynamiki? Brzmi jakby 3/4 grał na mezo forte. Nie wiem, czy to wina fortepianu, nagrania, czy wykonawcy.

이분연주를 들으니 쇼팽콩쿠르가 정말 뛰어난 연주자가 참가하는 콩쿨이구나 싶네
클알못이라 조성진 연주가 너무 좋다고만 생각했는데
이분 연주를 들으니 아주 큰 차이가 느껴지진 않는구나 싶당
솔직히 음원만 들려주면 나는 구분 못함^^;
클잘알분들한테는 차이가 잘 느껴지겠지...
이분도, 조성진 피아니스트도 다들 너무 잘치는 분들이에요

also, i heard dimity shishkin play this piece on a yamaha concert grand. it's tonality and projection is equal to this hamburg steinway. i do not buy the hype surrounding steinway pianos especially the new york ones.
