The illustrations are so pretty in this book. I still get a kick out of kick out of your selections because they are so often ones that would never had known about.

Another fantastic, thorough, and insightful review. It is interesting that there is such an overlap within the book series. Did you find that it acted as a sort of aid to memory while viewing, reminding you to layer in all the things you've learned from the other books and apply them to the current subject?
I was particularly interested in the narrative shown within the buildings. Almost a sort of proto-comic or storyboard
Also, the inclusion of the comparison between the French and Ethiopian styles was fascinating. It's something I've never really thought about before, and as you say something worth exploring

Thanks for the comment! I was able to review this so quickly because the library processed this hold faster than usual, which was very nice. Sometimes my holds linger in limbo for months.
I find that the overlap does help cement ideas or connections as I review the books I read. Actually, since I started reviewing books on CZcams I remember more of what I read and I make more connections between other books. As people comment on older videos I am reminded of past books, and I have to answer questions from viewers and make connections for new videos which also helps. Having a channel has been worth it for that reason alone, plus the additional benefits of learning how to talk about books (a whole different skill I am still learning) and receiving recommendations from viewers.
I am now on the hunt for a book on Ethiopian manuscripts, something I had never thought of until this book. I love finding unexpected new things to explore in books.

I'm glad that you're able to get so much from your experience with the channel. The benefits you describe are something I'd not considered about making videos, and no doubt give you extra incentive to continue to pursue it
I'd be interested to see what you turn up regarding the Ethiopian manuscripts, though I suspect that it may be had to come by. Possibly something that a university library may have. Though I don't know what library you usually use or have access to
I actually do have access to university libraries! Where I live in the US I can order books from any library in my state to my library for free. I will start looking and see what I can turn up! Thanks for the comment!
