The best "What's In My Bag?" episode so far. I like the way they are honest and don't try to pretend they know all that rare music and just pick records to discover and make their own opinion. Probably they will like some of the records but never listen to them again because it would appear as not their cuppa tea.

Actually, a lot of loud music bands' members are more intellectual and cerebral than most people assume they are

Don't listen to to much noise, but with Gibson's Bass riffs and Chippendale's chaotic drumming, it's get me so pumped.
JOY RIDE I would say theyre on the far more pallatable side of the noise genre spectrum. I cant stand the fringe fundementalist noise guys. Its like theyre not trying at all. But with these guys its like the hest ambassadors of noise, because its really not noise. They just uses non melodic stuff.
Well there's a difference between Noise Rock and pure Noise. Noise rock comes from punk rock and stuff with influences from noise.

We need a mystical calm jazz album from lightning bolt with 60-70s psychedelic Indian influences
I think metal east had that influence but not the sound you describe. Very epic songs
this video left me with a plethora of good vibes.

I saw these dudes in a sweaty basement in Kalamazoo like a million years ago. Faces were melted. Good to see they're still doing their thing.
Ahhhh, i just want to sit around and talk with these two. Gibson's voice is so relaxing.
I listened to their whole discography, determined to enjoy it. I didn't end up enjoying their music but the fans don't lie. These seem like great guys and people love their music.
you watch this video and hear their voices and say something like "oh these guys seem pretty chill" then you hear their music and its just O_o

First saw these guys play in a tiny basement at a house party in Allston,MA 2001. Never heard of them, but my friend who had, was so excited that I had to check it out. And my God, I’m so glad I did. Their live performance is like nothing else you’ve experienced. Something to behold, and they’re super cool guys!

I love that Brian mostly picked albums based on just the cover art alone. Before the internet, that's pretty much how it used to be. I still do that today. There's only been a couple of times where I feel I've gotten burned, but like, you still own the album and that stuff stays in your head and eventually, you're gonna put the album back on and realize, "this is actually pretty cool"

Music from my hometown.
Chippendale almost completely summed up my view on Interstellar - a gorgeous and stimulating space movie, with an ending that just falls really short of what it has built up to. The thing is, I enjoyed the drama aspects of the movie, but I wish that the whole plot wasnt structured around the silly notion that basically "all you ever need is love".

For the two guys responsible for the existence of some of the most aggressive and high-energy music ever conceived, they're oddly calm lmao. I was expecting at least one of them to be some kind of whackjob or edgelord but I was mistaken
Similar situation with Michael Gira of Swans: wrote some of the heaviest, most nihilistic music ever, and is a very relaxed and chill person off stage.

I watched _Interstellar_ on ketamine once, and I had already seen it and loved it, but man oh man. What a movie.
This is an excellent "What's in my bag?" despite the conspicuous absence of a bag.
Great I found one and now I can ask you : Is it just me or is lightening bolt's music SIGNIFICANTLY more enjoyable on ketamine.
I can watch the X - men on Ketamine and swear I´m being had since I´m pretty sure Stanley Kubrick must have produced it , such is the excellence , layers of communication etc in it .

I love that these guys music is just chaotic noise/ music, and they scream and yell, but they chose only calm and peaceful, music and art, and there talking about it in quiet and calm voice
Same feels about Interstellar, but I didn't know how to express it before. It just got difficult and a little disappointing with the human stuff. But he didn't mention the Hans Zimmer soundtrack which is the best part! Love it so much.

AAAG I miss these dudes. It's been a while since I've seen them. Gotta fix that.
I got trampled once because of these guys, but I love them anyway. I was sitting on the floor towards the back of a big hall at ATP while Sonic Youth were playing, recovering from the worst hangover. Unbeknownst to me, Lightning Bolt had set up behind me for a secret gig and started playing as the last note of Sonic Youth's final song rang out. The ntire crowd turned and charged toward them trampling me in the process. To be honest, it might be the perfect way to enjoy a Lighning Bolt show.

Saw these guys a few days ago at The Scala, London. At the risk of sounding like an American, "awesome".
Yes, you were supposed to be given a bag. You were also supposed to play ON the stage, you were also supposed to have a guitar player, you were also supposed to use an actual microphone. This is lightning bolt.
They like strange things. It's a strange taste, but attractive at the same time.
