It’s spring softly so be prepared for that. I ride a lot of tight technical stuff so it doesn’t effect me but it may bother some guys. You can push it to a degree, but wide open stuff gets twitchy. Every time I think I should get stiffer suspension I ride the hard enduro stuff and calm myself down lol. I’m a shorter guy too at 5’8” @ 180 lbs so that factors in as well.

Yes, one side is rebound and one side is compression. There is only 1 spring in the xtrainer
