    Great video as always! If I had to use a 3 hole grommet I would have capped it off with an old echo fuel tank vent (I have a handful of them in a parts bin), just to look a little more professional. It wouldn't matter if it is a working vent or not because the gas cap should vent on those. But let's be honest it doesn't really matter as long as the fuel doesn't leak out of it. And I will keep the screw trick in mind if I am in a pinch or out of vents!! Keep up the good work!!!

    This was another good repair. Capping the 3rd line with a screw is a good solution.

    Another way to block off the third hole on the grommet, is to get a fuel tank breather or pressure reliever it is small and would fit snugly on to the fuel line and is beneficial

  • @watermanone7567
    @watermanone7567 Před 2 lety +2

    You did a good job. Some machines use the third hole for a vent with a check valve device on the end of it. I think echo may use it that way. Thanks for the video.

    Yep, I’d add the third line and plug it.
    I also don’t have much luck with carb kits. I’d rather replace the carb. Having said that I also don’t like ordering from Amazon because I’m never really confident of the model numbers and the various engines they’re used for. I’ve been burned before. I usually take the carb to my local small engine dealer and let them make the call. It’s usually the right carb.
    Cheers

    Great video👍Maybe someone will see it and drain their fuel before putting up equipment. Ya gotta hope 🙂
    Personally, I would put the vent back but it will likely run fine without it(most don't have one anyway)

  • @andybecker2693
    @andybecker2693 Před 2 lety +2

    The screw will work just fine. Putting an external fuel vent on the third line would be good too if you had one laying around from an Echo. That way if the cap vent fails it will still vent properly.

    I have done it before but no normally I don't plug them it's just I don't know it just shows that to the customer to me it's just shows them that I'm all about doctoring something instead of actually fixing it properly you know some people are complain about it but a lot of people won't as long as like you said as long as the machine works and runs that's all that matters but I'll send you a picture of that grommet it's like The echoes take it has three one for the main line one for the return line and then there's a vent tube that comes up and there's a little filter on the top a vent filter you can use those there's nothing wrong with using them all they do is Purge pressure off I think we should don't matter it'll still run I put them on the ones that I work on that was just like this when I replace all the lines so they will actually work

    I've been thinking about getting that auger. As to would I have plugged the grommet or ordered a replacement, it depends on how urgently I needed the auger. Great excuse to delay the project. LOL But you also only find these things when you need them. Compromise? Plug the three hole grommet as a temporary measure to use the auger until the two hole grommet showed up.

  • @cbauer72

    when someone brings me their yard tools to get repaired and ask me why they keep having an issue with newer equipment. Once I fix it. I take the time to tell them they can keep doing what they are doing and have to keep bring it back to me. OR then I tell them how to care for their stuff correctly. Sometimes they look like a light bulb finally lite and they get it. Or they look like a deer in headlights ( which means ill see them soon again).

  • @williammoore4800

    See that fuel line is what they call EPA line they put that line on every piece of machinery two cycle push mowers are not push mowers at two cycle engines like weed eaters chainsaws blowers whatever they all have this EPA line on it and that's in case the line gets damaged while being shipped you still have an inner layer and this causes a lot of lot of problems I just worked on like three of them since I moved not augers but weed eaters and chainsaws and they all had this EPA line on it that had the plastic liner on the inside and that was the issue with them and a lot of times sitting on the shelf you know multiple weeks and months at a time before they're sold these lines begin to deteriorate and once gas hits the lines all you have is an inner liner and when you start it up if it has a little bit of suction from the engine pulling the gas up through the carburetor it suck that liner down and it run until the carburetor runs out of gas and then it can't suck no more gas up there cuz of that liner this is a good method in a way but it's also causes a lot of problems in people think they buy junk because of this I mean 90% of the polling pro chainsaws and Craftsman weed eaters and stuff like that and steel chainsaws and steel weed eaters every one of them are shipped with the EPA line

    Well this is what I always do if I always mess with these to try to you know work on the motor or whatever always take the auger off and I built me a table that has a hole in it and I can literally bolt this auger down to it and or clamp it down or whatever and you can put it on this table and start it and you don't have to worry about the dick turn the auger turning and digging a hole in your yard or wrapping around the tree right and breaking your neck but these these predators are augers from harbor freight is very good they just have the basic issues people run ethanol gas in them and you can't run it in them and matter fact two weeks before I moved I worked on one of the bigger size predator augers they got one more size just a little bigger than this and it's a four-stroke in it's a dangerous machine man but all in all they're good
