A bit unrelated to the discussion... But your "solve the equation" video made me assemble my storm deck again... I am back in love with my first modern deck. It reminded me of watching Finkel play storm back in 2012. Been playing storm in modern through all the bannings... All... Maybe I will give twiddle storm a spin.
I've been playing twiddle storm for a while and I think this video is on point. Wishclaw indeed is what made the deck go up from "okay-ish" to "powerful and consistent". Ty for the analysis! On topic: what do you think would be something that, if printed, could fit on the list (aside from obvious Arcane Cantrips and such)? This deck, in all it's versions, seems pretty finished.
What are chances can we get an update on these two decks in 2024? There have been some new printings and bans in the new year. Would love to hear from the Combo Cabal!

Yup this very cool content. So thorough and detailed thank you! I think over the years because the gifts storm deck has become so deterministic, I personally got kind of bored with it, you know? We're not forking a seething song with ascension anymore and casting desperate ravings, fingers crossed... Simpler times. Flotus is an exciting magic card and the twiddle deck is really powerful. It might be my favorite wishclaw talisman deck, Bryant. It was very insightful to see how they stack up together. :D
I feel like ur/temur storm can fight through hate better (non creature hate). Even more so with solve the equation allowing you to doge surgical extraction. I do also believe you could easily switch your sb up with more anti hate cards in twiddle storm so it's just as good or better at beating hate. You adding the ad nauseam fixed my one issue really with the deck and that is that it whiffs sometime when going off. Not a lot or even really often but it does happen.

Very interesting - I hadn't seen the Wishclaw tech before and had pretty much dismissed Twiddle Storm as being too inconsistent - I'll check out your video. Can you give a quick tl:dw on Solve the Equation though? I've run Merchant Scroll in the past in Gifts Storm as a functional 5th copy of Gifts, is 3 mana really worth it to be able to search up a wider variety of cards?

I am playing this deck since lotus field got printed and wishclaw was my first card i put in as a difference to the first list and it has proved to be one of the best cards in the deck and I like that it's not only me thinking like that but I still have to try out the underworld breach. I also tried legacy version of it but most of the time you are to slow or get got by Force of Will on ideas Unbound and you can't run to many discard spells to interact because your combo suffers under that but I would like to see your take on legacy Twiddlestorm
@@TheEPICStorm yes I know but I would still be interested in how you as an Storm pro would be doing with it and what the difference to my versions would be. The best sucses I had with an 4color burning wish Version with veil of summer similar to TES. I found that the this version is not that week against discard and hate pieces like chalice and trinispere cause of shenanigans in the board and do to your most important combo pice being a land. And a card you should test in the Modern version deck is Peer into the abyss. Even if it sounds strange but similar to it in TES in legacy it is a "deterministic Kill" if you cast it with 1 mana floating. It has been really in my games against discard heavy agressiv decks. Most of the time you get stuck against them with a bunch of twiddles and no action. Then wishclaw for peer is just game over.

I havent played modern since oct 2019. Twiddle storm is a modern deck I could throw together and I expect I might enjoy modern again. Otherwise I play legacy and edh.
Maybe this is my inexperience on the legacy side but Twiddle feels more like TES, and Gifts feels more like ANT. I've only played Twiddle in 1 event so far but that alone has me pretty high on the deck. I'm just trying to figure out a way to play VoS and Wishclaw.
Glad you enjoyed it. Fetches are just better honestly. I cover it in the most recent video, but with two copies of Underworld Breach and Fatal Push, they're enablers for more degeneracy. On top of removing lands from your deck so you don't draw them with ideas.
Both turn 3 wins. With gifts if you have the right package you can win on turn 2. I’ve played with fetches and fetches versions of both. Honestly I have a better win rate with the fetchless versions.
Hey there! The point of the video was to compare the two decks. Damping Sphere affects both decks fairly evenly, which is why it wasn't discussed. That said, the Aria plan out of Twiddle can be insanely effective against Sphere.

So I've known the mana needed after casting gifts is 3 but what are the conditions (mana) needed to win without a bear in play?

I don’t think it’d be viable. It’d be a turn three deck that is weak to Moon, Chalice, counter magic, and discard in a more powerful format.

That's probably true. My meta is just packed with RB/Jund Shadow so I'm a little "gun shy" about not having at least 3 in the SB.

Technically, there's mono-blue builds out there. But without fetchlands, I'd look at the fast lands instead.
