I have much to talk about this wonderful machine. If time permits, I would post more about my experience in using the machine in repairing, refurbishing and creating things I can imagine .

The market is not too big for the Chinese factories to redesign it. In fact it has been modified once turning it to use both "fish line" and domestic sewing thread. Before the 1980s, the 1st version of this machine only used "fish line" and bearings only in 4 shaft areas. Now, the 2nd version use 8 bearings so that the crank movement become smoother. If you make the machine more stream-lined, it would not be sold so cheap and people would buy other more user-friendly ones. I agree the feature of hand crank is the most important factor for being popular of this machine. It needs no electricity and would perform like a normal sewing machine!
