    Another great presentation. And live so don’t worry about the gremlin issues.
    I have the M system and the Q2.
    Probably psychological but I feel more creative and enjoy shooting with the M far more than the Q2. Don’t get me wrong, the Q2 is deadly accurate but I feel the M images are more charismatic perhaps (that is when I nail the exposure and focus).

    • @RedDotForum
      @RedDotForum  Před 3 lety +1

      That's a great point and we'd totally agree. The camera in hand does influence your pre-visualization and ultimately the pictures you take. An M is more deliberate. A Q more instantaneous. They're both great options for all the reasons we discussed.

  • @stephenlpitts
    @stephenlpitts Před 3 lety +3

    One quick addition to the last question on the Q2 versus the M10R plus a 28mm Summilux -- the latter is indeed sharper than the Q2 lens due to the SDC corrections that the Q2 applies to its much smaller F1.7 lens (to keep it small). This is apparent away from the center. It's not huge, but there are not perfectly equal as stated. Not a big deal and the other factors well noted here are no doubt dominant with regards to the decision here.

    My default setup for cruising: Q2 around neck and a backup C-Lux in a cargo pants pocket when on local land excursions. This covers 90% or more of the photos I want to take, and there is no sensor dust problem. I'd rather spend time on ship activities and not worry about cleaning sensors. I also bring a CL aboard with a set of lenses, and a compact tripod. This provides all the handy options for on board shooting, balcony shots, time lapse, parties, other activities; and special excursion situations (the other 10%).

    I ALWAYS carry a second battery (2 for the Q) and a NITECORE CHARGER I purchased @Leica Store Miami online, for the cameras I have: One for M10, One for M240, One for Q116. And a spare battery. I take an external power pack and purchased a 3 foot USB cable. So when I'm shooting with one battery, Or sitting at a coffee shop, The other is charging in my bagpack Basically, So power pack is so fast (2A Output) that I don't get stuck without a battery!
    Can't recommend the NITECORE enough, Except for the Short cable. The M10 model has 2 battery slots and they are tiny, light and come with a fabric pouch. Much lighter than taking the Leica chargers and gives a solution on the field, On the street.

    I have a COOPH rope strap and used it for awhile but it was a little stiff for my taste, maybe it loosens up with time. However, I discovered Gordy's Camera Straps and have to say their simple, leatherwork is really great - it's a great match for me and very affordable. Highly recommended.

  • @baan3197

    The Q2 is really a good main and secondary camera to have. I too would pair with the m10/50lux.

  • @jenniferromonoyske3655

    I have bag problem too. I have a Leica bag .(overworth) in black- gorgeous … both if those Onas . We have similar taste ! 😂 they are good, if you carry all that $$ in gear you need to go all in! Those leicas are dreamy. Have the Q2 … would love an M ! Lenses so expensive . I have to canon M 4 and a whole prime line up. I’d have to sell those. Not there yet, even though I went to photography school during film and the M flexes those muscles. I think I may have to wander into Soho store today…. 😄

    The both Tri-elmar f4 plus one portrait Len’s. While 16 in crop mode is 24. Therefore used the higher pixel density sensor. But tri Elmar is pricy and it is only a f4 also higher pixel density is also more expensive.

    Love all your shows. Am now completely caught up having watched all! I am enjoying your comments on bags. When you have a bag episode, please consider Fogg. I’ve bought too many to mention, but love their build, aesthetic, function and customer support. My dog chewed up my favorite. I sent it in, and Nigel and bee rebuilt it better than original. They are a must mention.

  • @ron5935
    @ron5935 Před 3 lety

    Keep the back of lenses clean and inside of back caps free of dust. My option 2 is the light and bendable fuzzy pen to pick up dust. 3 is Eyelead.
    #2 is sensor clear and sensor pen.
    Do not buy the cheap imitation wands from China. They can and will destroy cover glass as they are far to sticky.
    Use the ones for Pentax if you use an M9.
    By by being careful I can go years without a wet clean.

    You mention that the M10R has Dual Native ISO. I'm familiar with how that works from owning and using Panasonic Varicam V35 and LT's; where there is two "native settings" 800 ISO and 5000 ISO from which we often gain DOWN in order to get both high or low ISO and less noise. The M10R has that loveky ISO controil with thge knob on the top left, but what are the two native settinbgs? It would be very helpful to know, and to the best of my knowledge is not discussed in the literature or operation manual. Can you fill in the missing information? Thanks! JSA

    • @RedDotForum
      @RedDotForum  Před 3 lety

      Always be respectful of other people's wishes. I'd apologize and move on. Generally, I'm more likely to ask for a picture, than to try to be sneaky. That way, there's never any confusion and much less change at a negative interaction with a photo subject.

      I know I’m a little late to the party but I used dental floss to pull the anchor through the hole of my M10R and it Works like a charm. Got it done in under 30sec per anchor. Let me know how it works for you. FYI, I wrapped the dental floss around a skewer stick once I threaded through the hole to keep from hurting my when when pulling.

    • @RedDotForum
      @RedDotForum  Před 3 lety

      Nothing that we know of currently. They might not hold the same advantage as the M back-to-back caps though. Two M lenses will take the same vertical space as one SL zoom. Perhaps a double cap could be useful for Summicron-SL lenses, but you'd still need a fairly deep camera bag to accommodate their combined length.
