- Hello everyone,
In this episode we welcome back Alain who helped us out when #automotiveanatomy was in its infancy. Back then he brought us an amazing Datsun 620. However, he sold the car and now he brought us a gorgeous Toyota Cressida. Although the car is 90 percent OEM, we still have to appreciate the fact that he uses it as his daily commuter and will be willing to maintain the car. Most people want to get a new daily but not Alein, he loves his oldschool cars and we appreciate him for that. Keep the oldschool on the road and keep true to your roots man. This and the 5.0 ran my hood in the 90s. The Americans had the 5.0 and the jamaicans had the cress, my brother used to hit the gas while stepping on the brake and the back end would drop like it's on hydraulics
Bruh the 89 cressida was my first car. No regrets. Learned to drift because of that car.🤣

Comfy seats and ride, quiet on the inside, 4 disc brakes, electric fuel injection, straight 6 DOHC engine, RWD, electric windows, mirrors etc, i like the boxy old school design, reliable...
One of the best cars of the 80's imo.
Other this type of japanese cars i really like from the 80's are Toyota Crown, Century, and Nissan Cedric.
In 2020 this car still screams luxury I love it

I have always wanted a Cressida, such a nice platform, 4 door sedan RWD Toyota is the perfect family car/drift car. I am surprised the leather seats are still in great shapes! But again, this car has super low miles👍 thumbs up to the owner for keep the OG alive! Thank you for the interview Gus!

THE OWNER AT THE APARTMENT NEIGHBORHOOD I GREW UP AT GAVE MY DAD A 1985 TOYOTA CRESSIDA WAGON IN WHITE HE WAS THE ORIGINAL OWNER THAT WAGON WAS SURE FUN FOR A V6 I THINK MY DAD TOLD ME BACK IN THOSE DAYZ THEY HAD THE SAME MOTORS AS THE SUPRA MODELS BACK THEN THOSE ARE SOME NICE CLEAN WHEELS LOOKING AT HIS CAR DROUGHT ME BACK SOME MEMORIES THANKS GUS ✌

I had an 85 5spd, an 87 5spd with the TEMS and I had an 88 auto with the TEMS. 85 had leather and the other 2 had velour interiors. I regret selling them. I also regret selling my MK2 and MK4 Supras but I dont really regret letting go the MK3. Still holding onto my 89 and 91 Cressidas though. After dailying modern Lexii, I think I'll just stick to my old ToyoLex fleet. They definitely don't make them like they used to.
Man, we love oldschool Yotas and Lexus. THey sure do nto make them the same.

Another car i would love to have as a time capsule but cant find anymore... 1992, being 16... 4 or 5 of us piled up in someones moms Cressida, 3rd gen Accord or late 80's Maxima rollin around with our boards in the trunk hitting up places to skate... the windows all down and the AC blowing on full blast and Ice Cube or Dre on the tape deck sounding HORRIBLE in a stock Japanese car stereo and their tiny 4 inch speakers lol... All while trying to not to have a scab bust open and bleed on dudes moms velour seats or spill our big-gulps : p Its weird the moments you want back when you get older.

The first Cressida I saw in real life was one that was being pushed in at a carshow in Manila. It was a ratlook style and it was one of my favorites at the show.

My friends mom used to have one of fhose. They eventually gave it to a junk yard because they couldn’t find parts go fix it. Its sad because it was in mint condition

@@AutomotiveAnatomy very nice car, I have a 1993 toyota crown super saloon, I think these cars are all family, we have supra dna and chassis, cressida is the smaller baby crown they call it in other countries. But all I cam say is great cars. This is where toyota loss their greatness, after these good cars are gone. Just became mass produce.econo cars and no more motorsports, its why supra now is bmw. They lack research on motorsports:) and became boring cars.
