My mom raked the carpet. (Of course I grew up in the 70's, in the time of shag carpet. So she'd vacuum, then rake it so it was fluffed up and all of the pile was going in the same direction.)
Yep, my mom too! So the high traffic areas didn't get matted down!

@@gwendorphins7 Rake. 70's shag carpet had long fibers and after awhile they would look matted, so you would rake it to fluff it up.
Same here! And maybe this will clear it up a little for anyone going rake? 🤯 My mom had a rug rake. It was made out of hard plastic and kindof looked like a giant wide tooth comb on a broom stick. My best friend's mom used an actual rake, a short tooth straight rake that also looks like comb (I think its also called a landscape or garden rake). Anyway, they all had wider teeth and could basically comb the rug fibers without damaging them. My neighbor's (another friend's) mom used a plastic leaf rake, but it didn't do as good of a job in my opinion.
My mom treated her shag carpet so well that we still had it in the upstairs hall and bedrooms when they built their new house in 2001. The realtor told them if they wanted to sell it they better replace the carpet. It was still in good shape after over 30 years. They've already replaced the carpet in the house they built, it might have lasted 10 years. Thankfully, they put down hardwood instead.

If you buy, upgrade, and reinforce the lock on a diary or buy the hardware and reinforce a random book you can glue the pages together and cut them out thereby making a book safe. Then again you can get a small locking safe, cut the pages, and hide it in the book. There are a million ways to hide things in a low cost way. Something you learn in a spicy childhood. Heck my bestie and I would pass notes in an empty twist lip balm tube. I still hide cash in one and studs or small hoops in another when I travel because if I get mugged no one is taking my lip balm off of me.

Back in the early 80's they had a levitating photo cube I still have mine . It floats without the power cord so not sure why a power cord when it elecro magnetic Enforced.. anyway I love this one

I got an empty fake Ajax container for very small documents. Then I wondered if criminals know fake containers are made and would go looking for it. I still use it though! 100 percent right on the fireproof aspect of storage, huge selling point. You should be on CNBC consulting with your own show!

@Dorian Meyette please make sure you check all your Drs credentials! I had the surgery and the Dr. Messed me up so bad! I lost 80Lbs. the first month! I was 485 now I'm 95 Lbs. and sickly! I wish I never got it done!! Good luck and I will say a prayer for a safe surgery and a speedy recovery!!

I just use a vacuum sealed bag in the deep freeze, which serves as a fire-proofer, and not too many people will think of looking there. Cheap, effective, convenient, modestly safe. And btw I thought your face makeup looked especially nice today, rich and glowing. I love the lip color with it. And your hair is lovely too.

I did like the book safe, but I would probably want to drill holes in the bottom to secure it to something a bit more substantial. Like most standard safes that come with holes & bolts for that added and less walk-away-able security. 😁

I loved how excited you got about the floating plant. Made me smile a lot. I don't see the point of that cup thing. Don't need a fancy cup and app to tell me what I've drunk in a day. Expensive waste of space.
I have the Hidrate steel. I loved it at first, but I kept having issues with the rubber parts of the lid getting moldy. I soaked it in bleach and I still couldn’t get the mold off. It was like $13 to replace just the plastic lid. After I replaced it 3 times I gave up. I still use the app to track what I drink, but I manually enter the amounts.
My brother has one of the book safes, except it is blue and slightly smaller. He put a couple of his old college textbooks on top of it because who keeps a dictionary on the table by the couch, seems less conspicuous. It is where he keeps one of his firearms. I am so glad you reviewed the vabroom, I have looked at it a bunch of times, but it would be mostly dust and guinea pig hair, essentially useless in my situation.
