      I am located in Northwest Minnesota USA. Winters here are very long and very cold with lots of snow. -40 in not unusual here during the winter.

      @@irishbee3632 okay cheers would you say insulation is absolutely necessary if you don't have a solid floor?

    • @irishbee3632
      @irishbee3632  Před 5 lety +2

      Yes, it's necessary in the spring and early autumn. No insulation and plastic for winter at all. Cheers

      @@irishbee3632 why do you not use the plastic and insulation in the winter? Or at least insulation during the winter?

    How long a season do you have when the bees are not flying? Or does your weather allow for bees to fly all year?

    • @irishbee3632
      @irishbee3632  Před 3 lety

      they are flying all year round weather depending in Ireland

    Do use plastic foundation? You have no holes in your foundation

    • @irishbee3632
      @irishbee3632  Před 4 lety

      No plastic foundation, it's wax. What kind of holes?

    • @stephenkelly2365

      Bee always chew holes in my wax frames

      Rearly in mine

    • @JM-nd4kt
      @JM-nd4kt Před 4 lety

      @@stephenkelly2365 try feeding them thin sugar syrup while they are drawing out the wax. Also try a different wax foundation sheet supplier as some are selling stale old wax. Unless it's very fresh and has a nice smell the bees will chew it a lot unless they are a swarm which will work anything and will repair old combs as they are so keen to start a new nest.

    Do you get a steady flow of nectar and pollen during the spring, summer and autumn? Or do you see a dearth at times?

    • @irishbee3632
      @irishbee3632  Před 4 lety

      Of course no! It's depends on the weather. Pollen usually not a problem, different story with the nectar. Bees are flying during the winter ones a week or two. A lot of wind and rain during the winter and spring.
