Culver City Sanitation on Thanksgiving

- I finally had the chance to film Culver City on Thanksgiving this year (one of the only municipalities that works on Thanksgiving in LA County, out of the surprisingly few that collect their own trash in the first place). I figured that they would try to get everything done pretty quickly, so I was hoping that they would send their CCC/Heil PT1000 that generally only does bulk to help their Autocar/PT1000 in the townhomes with the manual trash. Turns out I was right, and I arrived there shortly after they did. The crew was super cool and "decorated" the truck (notice the thing hanging off the left side of the tailgate in the last clip). Unfortunately they tried to run the packer as little as possible, and I only got 5 packing cycles on film after about 45 minutes of following lol.
There are also some clips of two of their Rapid Rails on trash, too. You'll see 3103 collecting on the West side of the Thursday route, and 3100 on the East side. Both drivers revved the trucks pretty decently which was refreshing to see, as I've seen drivers letting off on the gas lately.
Thanks to the workers of Culver City for their kindness and service on a major holiday! - Auta a dopravní prostředky
cool vid, the manual-auto mix reminded me lots of the Garbage Day movie. the CCC driver's comment made me wonder if he drove and liked the city's slow old COEs. a perfect world would have Culver City's trucks all in those trucks' scheme..but I do enjoy the way thise RRs are run, lots of skill on display there.
+Trashman242 he said he likes CCC more than Autocar, but still isn't a fan either. He said the only trucks he really likes are Peterbilts. Yeah, I love the older paint scheme. Yup, they run their trucks very untraditionally. Thanks
Great video! Those RRs sound great when revved. Looks like a lot of trash came out on Thanksgiving lol. Cool Rear Loader too! Heil knows how to design some nice looking trucks.
+thelyokofannumber1 thanks!
Nice post - what time do they usually finish their routes? I know routes in Cali tend to run significantly later than anywhere in AZ. Surprised they'd put a lighter duty truck like the PT1000 on bulk, but i'm sure it's really light out there anyway. Neat little truck, what was its predecessor?
+Garbage Trucks AZ Generally around 2 which is significantly early compared to the usual 3-5 around my area. Kind of surprises me too, but I actually rarely see bulk out anywhere in the city for whatever reason. I actually have no idea what they had before this. Thanks!
I noticed the green with black lids are trash. What's up with that? New color system? Really liking the rapid rails in this video. Great to see them actually giving some decent revs. Cool to see the power trak too. Over all really enjoyed this video
+West Coast Refuse Trucks They have a ridiculous surplus of older greenwaste carts, so when they're short on trash carts they put black lids on green carts and use those. Thanks!
+WasteManTony Better then Consolidated painting carts... haha
Compared to torrance, which takes school holidays off lol. Are the RL routes done the same days as the rest of the city?
+ATSFpony lol how many do they have off a year? The Street Services division in LA has 12 per year. With the exception of their one-way streets which I assume are rear-load, I believe this is the only rear load route (the complex near Overland and Sawtelle), and it's done on Thursday as opposed to the surrounding neighborhood being done on Wednesday.
Torrance has 10. Of course, they are off fridays normally.
Long Beach runs on Thanksgiving.
+shadofax96 yeah, I believe Long Beach, Culver City, Burbank and Glendale are the only ones that do.
Did curver city switch to TOTER?
Culver city
+Trash-Man Daniel they bought a batch of 64 gallon Toters that lasted a little over a year. Their most recent purchase was Rehrig
