Orca did an INCREDIBLE job making the Mengsk AI to make this mission occur. I'm sure he'll have a developer comment later.
This mission alone had 30 odins spawned in along with 132k minerals and 32k gas given to Grant to persevere. More stats in the recap video tomorrow! Thank you to everyone for joining us and experiencing the event we've been planning for months so we can bring you more incredible mods in the year to come!
I don't know very much about Starcraft 2, so I might be very wrong here, but it looks like a lot of the stuff used in this mission (Mengsk's battlecruiser, the enslaved zerg, some of the special units) came from Co-op. I was under the impression from previous developer comments that using Co-op units was something very difficult to do in custom campaigns. So does this mean that you've figured out a way to do that, or am I just mistaken and they aren't Co-op units?
Shout-outs to EmperorMengsk, who bought like $700 worth of Odins, by the way. Fantastic username.
@@naplockblubba5369 Not 100% sure, but i am pretty sure that it is just using the same models on entirely custom units, and isnt using the coop dependency the source of the pain
What are those things that pop up on the left side (like 'engaged' and something else)? Are those some kind of marks to describe Mengsk's BC behaviour?
Upd. Also, is Mengsk just a bc-modeled xanthos? What can it do?
@@naplockblubba5369 this isn't coop dependency, this is literally just remaking all of that because coop dependency is just that much of a pain

This mission has never felt so Zerg.
The stupid amount of hatcheries, the death and destruction, Grant's bases beings cleared and taken again and cleaned again ... An unrelenting infestation, coming back from every punch stronger again
And that one battlecruiser that just kills everything just to teleport back to repair, very Zerg.
If it's possible, LotV twitch trolls Grant NEEDS a cow boss-fight at this point.
It needs Cow'darim mootherships with cloaked cow interceptors.
There is no cow level!... :)

I love how every time pre solarite is about to wipe everything around grant there is just dead silence from him. Not a muscle flinch, just acceptance of his fate. Truly inspiring!

@@jexx2974 It was challenging but boring. The Narud fight before it was marginally better and it was already pretty bad. You fight floating rocks as a boss fight lol

Mengsk as a boss here had me really impressed. These mod makers (not only Orca's Mengsk) are good at making games, wow!
This is how the fight against Mengsk should have been, using his battlecruiser like in Sc1 and playing his master card being the hybrids.

Awesome ! Having Mengsk in his battlecruiser teleporting and fight was super awesome too. Having a custom version of this map with just that event would be great too to give some more pump to this map. (maybe in something like nightmare HOTS ?)

Its the strongest anti-air 200 damage every 0.2 seconds basically a mini Yamato cannon every 0.2 seconds with no charge time

Those modders are doing nice work, the Mengsk Battlecruiser boss, using his Coop arsenal (troopers, the Zerg thralls) are very nice. Also, a very nice touch to use the Coop Pride of Augustgrad (very fancy model) and its abilities to make the base of his unit. I hope this is something that will pop out in a mod, maybe Nightmare HOTS.

I think grant easily spent 10x the minerals on rebuilding that middle expansion over and over compared to how much he actually mined. Best series ever.
I always felt like there was something missing on the very last mission the mengsk boss fight filled that gap

As a note for the next Twitch Trolls Grant, maybe add a modifier to the donation triggers that increases the cost if the same trigger is used more than once in a minute, reducing back to normal after 5 minutes. Increasing the gains while (hopefully) decreasing the soul crushing cows.

I summoned a void seeker that NEARLY obliterated Mengsk but it was not really the best summon otherwise

If I had to guess, I think the BlackHammer was supposed to be Mengsk's version of the Odin. but was scrapped for whatever reason.
the Blackhammer was a scrapped Thor mercenary for Wings Of Liberty, then a Royal Guard for Coop

Oh, this was great. The Mengsk boss especially was the main star for me.
I would love to see it reused in some other, publicly available mod in the future, since so much work went into creating him anyway.

There’s an old car trip game that deals with cows which may work.
Cows my cows: Count as many cows in the field as you can (Spawn X number of cows)
Marry my cows: If you pass a church, double your cows (Increase active cow count)
Kill their cows: If you pass a cemetery kill half someones cows (Decrease active cow count)
At least the nice people can help Grant deal with the cows better than solarite bombing the map.
It ended as it began... with too many cows.

Hey Grant ! So this was a fantastic series and I thank you as well as all the modders involved.COngrats for the amazing work. Still, I think it's a little disappointing that all the work put into this project will only be enjoyed by yo. Do you think it would be possible to make a mod out of TTG with planet goals active as a default and all the various events triggering at random during mission (with maybe the possibility of adjusting the event list and their frequency) ?
I think people would love to try this insanity if that doesn't require too much work.
We're exploring options for releasing it, but it's a tough system to convert. We're throwing out some ideas and may try to do something not too long from now.

7:25 answer is Dominion: Storm Over Gift 3. A game that was all hype screenshots and terrible gameplay but we may singlehandledly have them to thank for Blizzard making Starcraft a successful franchise and not a purple-in-space Warcraft 2 expansion pack.
