Feels good to release a video again! What's your thoughts on this lens? I decided not to watch many reviews until I released mine 🙆🏻♂️
Just got this lens yesterday thanks in part to this video! I was over the fence about it. So happy I pulled the trigger!
Hope you enjoy it!🙏🏼🙏🏼
Awesome review! Everyone that talks about street shooting always focuses on ultra wide, 15 to 23mm lenses, or the 27mm pancake. I've been shooting with those lately and I feel like the only thing that I capture out in a wide open city is just... architecture and streets. My shots lack moments, lack feel, lack subjects, lack emotion. It ends up being too wide, too much, and I'd have to get super close to my subject. I love the 27mm for portability, but I have been looking for street photography talk of lenses above 35mm and no one even mentions it or talks about, everyone just says for street stick with wide 15 to 23mm... Like going above 23mm is taboo, haha. So glad someone talks about walking around with a 56mm and has great photos to show for it.
Thanks to Chloe and you for the videos, beautiful photographs and I really appreciate the input - have been considering the Fuji 56mm but I love the viltrox shots so much, you may have just saved me a ton of money :)
Nice shots! Good to see you back at the videos! ☺️
Thank you! I’ve missed it so much 🙏🏼
It's good practice to stick to two sizes of filters, I do so for 62 mm and 77 and have my lenses equipped with step-up rings as needed (and XUME connectors for quick switching). My Viltrox and FujiFilm primes all take 62 mm filters now, my larger Viltrox prime (85/1.8 II XF) is 72 mm as is my 16-80 mm Fuji zoom and they take 77 mm filters. Step-up rings with the approriate XUME connector are on all my lenses to accomodate for either the 62mm or 77mm filters. Also some 67 mm lenses are so equipped that can take the 77 mm filters. I really like it this way.
I appreciate the comment and it sounds like you have a great system that works for yourself, I just really like the have the filters flush to the lens but that’s my personal preference 🤷🏻♂️
Excellent content and video demo!
Do you find that due to the 56mm having the equivalent focal length of
85mm which is usually used more for portraits, you have to stay further
away from the subject matter than a 50mm equivalent?
Kind of, it depends.
I feel that the FF 35mm is popular due to the environment it’s been used in most.
I find that where I live, the streets are super wide and far apart. So, I feel that having an FF 85mm it allows me to capture moments that a FF 50mm would of been tad bit far away. But that’s my style I like to focus on moments more if I can. Overall, I love the FF 50mm. If I could only choose 1 lens to do everything with, I would be happy ✌🏼
Where is your sellfy store? I need some sample raw files from XT3 to learn grading..
hi! is it possible to achieve these colors only with fuji simulations?
Great review - thank you for sharing! This lens will be sitting on my XE4 soon thanks to your sample images! Q re your images: Which editing program do you use? Or are they straight out of camera using a film sim/recipe? I super dig the look of your images! Cheers mate!
Great review! Im just wondering, Is this compatible with the new Fujifilm XS10? Thanks!
I believe so! It’s an X-mount lens 🙏🏼
Great pics keep up the great work !!
Thank you kind sir! 🙏🏼
Thanks to you, I'm gonna purchase this lens ✊🏼🙏🏻
hi, I have an xt4 with the kit lens 18 55 which is good, but the bokeh is not enough for me, so would you recommend me this lens? for portraits?
Have your subject further away from the background. Alternatively get a prime lens that is at 1.4
I just bought this lens for the canon M50 and the lens blades keep opening and closing without me doing anything just turning camera on anyone knows what's going on and how to stop it
Damn that's strange, either you are on auto aperture? Or send it back to the seller
52mm was quite common filter thread back in the day - many Nikon lenses had used it. What you maybe could do on the fly is to take larger filter and mount it on the lens via step-up ring.
Well, duh. Step-up ring is the obvious answer here.
Just came across your channel. Love your vids. Just bought a X-T2 again and thinking about buying this lens.
Thanks for watching ✌🏼I hope the video answers any of your questions
Enjoyable content, as always!
Thank you! Glad you liked it 🙏🏼
which is better when compared to viltrox 33 mm f1.4
This is the first video i see on your channel and i must say, i’m very impressed with your shots. I shoot on Canon and have been considering the 56mm Viltrox over the Sigma 56mm and your photos have pushed me further in that direction. Though i realize you edited these, the colors seem a lot better than on the Sigma. I currently have the 7artisans 55mm which is nice considering its price, but i need autofocus and the 55mm has a bit too much character, not enough sharpness. The Viltrox lens seems to produce some beauties. I’m a sucker for silver lenses too, as the Canon version and my M6ii are silver.
Really enjoyed your video!
I must say I do love silver lenses!
I can’t comment on colour since I haven’t tried the Sigma (wish they would have x-mount lenses)
But it’s a nice lens, I was impressed and if you enjoy what you see then I’m glad it was helpful 🙏🏼🙏🏼
@@HVRIS oh i didn’t realize Sigma didn’t make x-mount glass. Weird.
Np, best of luck to you.
Thank you so much for this review, you made me buy one and I love it so far. I love the vibes of your photos. Can you share your night photo editing please 😊❤
Do you know if this lens is compatible with the xt100?
I believe so! It’s an X-mount camera ✌🏼👀
What's Viltrox AF-S like compared to the Fuji 56mm?
Pretty similar just a lot quieter
Good video. Im trying to save the money for the Viltrox 56 1.4. Keep up the good work
Thank you sir!
And good on you, you won’t be disappointed 🙏🏼
Wow long time ..Nice to see ya!
Hey again! 💪🏼
What Prestets do you use?
For the Fuji 56mm would you shoot at 1.2 a lot? I guess it depends on the situation but it seems rather a narrow depth of field for street photography. As the guy once said just because you have 1.2 doesn't mean you should use it all the time. The question is more related to stills rather than video. Thanks mate.
Typically I shoot at f/1.2 because it’s fun. But if you want the best quality from the lens, shoot at around f/4 - f/5.6.
Also, that statement applies to full frame cameras more than crop I believe. For example, if I shot at f/1.2 on full frame, I would probably miss shots and I’ve noticed that the image isn’t sharp most of the time (depends on the lens) and the bokeh would be over kill.
However, on APSC I’m getting light at f/1,2 and my depth of field is effectively f/1.8 and is actually sharp. So I find that the balance is nice.
Again, I’m not advising to always shoot at f/1.2 with the 56mm but if you do, it’s fun and definitely useable in the streets! ✌🏼 Happy shooting
@@HVRIS Thanks Haris. Good point on 1.2 being 1.8 on FF.
No worries! Hope this helps ✌🏼
Couldn't you get a step up ring for the ND filter? that way you could have used a larger ND filter you already own.
What kind of ND filter would you recommend for street photography with this lens? (I’m a newbie)
I don’t use ND filters for photography personally. Only for video. For video I use a brand called Gobe/Urth
@@HVRIS Thanks a bunch! Very helpful review.
You are most welcome 🙏🏼
I here mostly good things about the Viltrox lenses, come to think about it I’ve not heard anything bad about them which for me being on a really tight budget is great. My budget really is tight, so tight that I’ve just won some filters that I could never afford to buy but though I’d love to keep them I’m trying to sell as I could do much more with the money…like get some screw on filters instead plus cash left over.
P.S. really love the photos, I want to do more night shooting myself and feel the 35mm f2 jis a little wide and slightly not fast enough, hence why I’m looking at the Viltrox 56mm 1.4
Excellent review dude. Really loved the sample photos, I'm always in awe at your street photography skills! Been really impressed with all these new 1.4 viltrox lenses. We got a 23mm viltrox for canon efm and have been really impressed with it too for the price!
Thank you man 🙏🏼 yeah I would love to try their 23mm maybe I’ll try to take a look at it 👀
What's up man, thinking about getting one of these myself, looks pretty decent value for money, nice review.
Hoping to get down to London post lockdown, be cool to set up a street photography collab, been meaning to shoot there for a while!
Thank you! Yeah it’s defo worth the money🙏🏼 that would be so good! Shame about the unpredictable lockdowns though haha
I think it's a great lens for the money 👌 I own the 85mm and it's awesome!
It’s defo a decent lens 🙏🏼
I'm a first time camera user. However, I wanted to find out what kind of filter would you suggest getting for this lens?
Do you need an ND filter to help with filming or something ?
@@HVRIS Yes for filming/photography during the day but also wanted recommendation on filters if any is needed for night time photography. Cause your pictures are straight fire 🔥
For filmmaking, I currently don’t have one. I personally don’t think too hard about filter brands, go for the regular reliable brands. I think urth variable ND with a step up ring might be a reasonable price. I wasn’t able to find the exact fit that wasn’t expensive unfortunately (and high quality).
Also, for night photography I dont use any. Just look for good light sources and compose your shots around them 🤘🏼👊🏼 good luck and happy shooting
@@HVRIS Cant wait! Thanks again for the assistance. Just bought my camera yesterday 😅 So actually pumped to actually go out and start shooting 😁
Does this work with the X-Pro3?
I haven’t seen any reports of it not fitting on the X-Pro3. I’m aware that the first Viltrox lens had issues.
Step up rings, for using your existing ND filters w this lens?
Great review. I actually own this lens and is one of my faves. And cool photos!
Thank you! 🙏🏼🙏🏼
Nice video and some great photos. I'm tempted to get a lens for street photography and various conventions, and this one is leading the pack at the moment. Only problem is, I'm after a macro lens too. 😁
Oooooo 👀🙏🏼 tough decisions to be made
Did you end up settling on one? That 30mm f2.8 macro is interesting here in November 2022
I'm waiting for you to review this lens for a long time
Now it’s here! Enjoy 💪🏼
Is this compatible with xa10 as well?
It is an X-mount camera so it should be fine
Love me some compact lenses and compact ear buds :)
You funny 😜😘
What device do you use to prevent vibration ?
A camera strap for stabilising my video footage.
Is fujiflim xt 3 still worth it in 2020??
Oh 100%
Nice video
Viltrox 56 vs 85?
What’s your take bud
56 all the way! 🙏🏼
You should buy 55 mm ND filter and ring adapter from 52 to 55mm. They probably have that.
Great video man, I bought this lens after watching it. I'm new to fujifilm, how are you getting this faboulus colors?
Thank you! Hope you are enjoying the lens 🙏🏼 I shoot in raw and then process my photos using the Classic Chrome look, is there anything in particular you wanted to know about colour?
THANKS MAN!
Welcome bro!
Ehhh the “cons” don’t outweigh the pros to me so I’ll get the viltrox!
Yeaaaa boiii 💪🏼
thank you for your time. Nice video. Subscribed. Step-up rings are an excellent investment. I stick with 77-sized filters, plus rings. 52 direct to 77 ring will give the lens an even better look.
Thank you! Hope you enjoy the other videos ✌🏼
The 77 will definitely give a better look since the corners won’t have a strong vignette. However, for me keeping my gear light and compact is a never ending obsession 😅🥲
If i you have a choice between viltrox 56mm f1.4 and fuji 35mm f1.4, what would you choose for general use/Street photography? Thanks in advance
Ooooo! That’s a tough one. You know what. The 35 f1.4 is the more logical choice since the field of view is more versatile. But, I’ll have to go with the viltrox 56mm because I just always end up using 56mm field of view for majority of my own personal and professional work. Overall, I’d say go with what field of view you love using the most! 🙏🏼
@@HVRIS thank you my brother. Appreciate your opinion! Take care and have a great day dude
Good transitions
I'm thinking of buying this lens as i do a little night street photography but not enough to spend the money on the Fuji version.
It’s definitely not the most accessible prime lens in terms of pricing. I hope you find something that solves your night shoots 🙏🏼
I talked to guys in fuji and and asked their opinion about this lens and they warned me that this lens has some serious issues on damaging the sensor..has anyone heard about it?
Damn, haven’t heard anything about that! 👀 would love to know more tbh
That seems a little far fetched, damaging a sensor seems bizarre, I do know Viltrox doesn’t recommend using this lens with the xpro 3 due to release button issues causing the lens to stick tight which may cause cosmetic damage.
Sounds like Fuji are pig sick that a third party has released such an excellent lens at such a great price.. 🙄🤔😂
I'm on the edge. This or 85 from viltrox for portraits on my new Fuji X-T4. This is my first Fuji X camera, I come from Canon Eos system
It’s a solid lens and great value for money. Defo shop around and try a lens first if you can
Finally!!! That's what I'm looking around for a long, long time. Thank you so much for your videos m8! But now I don't know which one to buy, the 56 or 85 Mark II. Maybe both 😂
Glad this video hit your expectations! 🙏🏼 and in regards to 56mm or 85mm 😅 I think that’s gonna have to boil down to your shooting style. Best of luck!💪🏼
Are you having a competition with Eren Seragul to see which of you can wave his hands around more?
Tbf I think I started CZcams before him so I’m the hand master 😈
Thanks for the review dude! I have Viltrox 23mm (first lens I've ever bought!) and thanks to this I think for the type of photography I want to do I'm going to send it back and get the 56mm!
Oh my goodness haha!
You need quite a few lenses. Both are keepers
Wow these are gorgeous pictures and your videographer is amazing. Love the transitions and small clips. Thanks for bringing us this review 👌🏼👌🏼
Thank you so much!
Is it good for XT 10?
I haven’t tried I’m afraid 🙆🏻♂️
Is it that good for video grapher?
Yes
Nice photos. I’m torn on getting this lens for my Fuji of canon M. It’s $50 cheaper for canon :D
Haha! I switched to Fuji completely so it’s hard to advise you 😆
Why didn't you buy a step up ring
I don’t like them because it makes the end of the lens awkward, thanks for the suggestion though!
Return of the Haych
Yes fam 👊🏼
@@HVRIS can you recommend any bang&olufsen headsets I am getting tired of Bose
I am currently wearing the Beoplay H4 and they are sick. Affordable in the premium headphone wold and great bass 👌🏼
@@HVRIS thank you for this suggestion I will take this advice into consideration
Viltrox is doing a great job
They are indeed 💪🏼
Yessssssss
I never use a nd filter or a polarizer
good video mate but can be better if you put the detail on the picture like ( iso- f - s ) anyway good one
You are welcome! I understand it helps for people to understand what settings in the exposure triangle I use. But honestly, it doesn't matter. Use whatever helps you get the shot.
52mm filter thread was the standard for nikon
Ugh so annoying I couldn’t find one haha
Hello. It’s Autofocus? I thought it was manual
Hello, yes it is manual
It isss autoofocusss
I've got my eye on the Fuji 50mm 1.0....
I have tried it, it’s very fun! 🙏🏼
@@HVRIS will zere be a wideo?
If I can get my hands on it long enough 👀
Man you had six weeks to sort out the ND filter?🤪
I didn’t get one in the end 😅
Just buy a Big Ass NR filter then buy Step up Rings! 😎👍🤙
LOL NEVER! I did that before and I wasn’t a fan. You have a cute tiny lens and then this large disk at the end haha
Never noticed the artificial ear until you mentioned it.
You wouldn't be able to see it. But the ear drum is made out of plastic haha
😂 You can get the whole trio of Viltrox primes (23 F1.4, 33 F1.4, and 56 F1.4) for the less than the price of ONE Fujifilm 56mm F1.2 WR.....so in that regards, it's a no-brainer to pick up any of these Viltrox lens (I have all 3 lens). The only caveat is you should NOT shoot this wide-open at F1.4 because there's crazy purple fringing around subjects - from looking at my photos, you have to stop it down to atleast F1.8 to reduce purple fringing. I primarily shoot portraits so it's not a big deal becasue you don't want to be shooting people at F1.4 (e.g. it's too wide open so one ear may be sharp, and the other ear will be blurred out....which looks funny). My photo mentor said when shooting people, F2.8 is probably the widest you should have it at to ensure the entire person's head is in focus. I had someone help me do corporate photography and my helper shot everyone at F2.0.....pretty much all of the photos of those ~30 people was messed up - their eyes were super sharp/clear, but all of their ears and hair were bokeh'd....LOL. 😂

dude wtf a simple step down ring is about 7 dollars spent half your video gripping about an nd filter 52 mm. if you have a 54 buy a simple step down adapter,
Sure you can do that if you fancy
Beo r u punjabi

😂😂😂😂 Whats happened to PHOTOGRAPHY?
“Snapshooting Enthusiasts” have been brainwashed to obsess over blurred bground by fantasising over “bokeh” (a word thats not even widely used in the 80s) and driving the hunger for big aperture lenses where the really great ones are cleverly expensive, stupidly huge and illogically impractical.
“Subject Isolation” is just a highly propagandized marketing strategy to make snapshooters keep buying more and more lenses😂😂😂
wait, your ear is artificial 🙄
These viltrox lenses visually looks cheap and plasticky like a chinese toy. Don't want to use them with beautiful X-T4.
Thats what I thought too initially... but then actually playing with it, it was solidly built, metallicky, and performed decently well in line with what you’d expect from a Fuji lens 🤷🏻♂️
You do lots of talking you didnt show much of your shots. boring content
Thanks for watching anyways 😂
Any clip that starts with a barely able talent talking into a camera like his work is as important as the information at hand .
