Beautifully constructed song. McCartney is brilliant at that, and word play. He will often put subtle, clever easter eggs in his songs that most listeners will miss, just because he can. This song, for example. You may notice that each verse starts with a word in the title: here, there, then everywhere.
I think Che noted a vital part of McCartney's genius, which is his sense of melody and harmony. And I'm glad you guys love his bass, which I have always thought is criminally underrated. Yeah, his melodies get into your head, and keep you company. If I recall correctly, McCartney said this is one of the very few songs Lennon complimented him on.

I’m glad y’all noticed Paul’s excellence on the bass. I knew you would. He plays like no one else. It’s fluid and natural. He’s also the best guitarist in the band. He played bass because no one else wanted to. He’s one of those rare guys who can pick up any instrument and play it well almost immediately and pull new sounds and ideas out of it right after that. To me, this is the best album they ever made. Nearly flawless.

No one on the Beatles played bass like Paul on the Beatles. The Let It Be album was recorded live in the studio (and rooftop) so John and George had to fill in on bass when Paul was on keyboards. If you watch the Get Back documentary, you could tell both John and George hated playing bass. That's why Billy Preston's impromptu visit to the Beatles while they were recording Let It Be was such a godsend. The 1st song he played on in the studio with them was Don't Let Me Down. Lennon wanted to get tapes of their sessions on the song for him to listen, but George said just let him play along and see what happens. He nailed his part immediately. Paul, who is a great pianist himself, the look of awe and the smile on his face that he shoots to Billy is priceless...

I've seen people cry, when Paul Macartney band plays Please Please me more than 50 years after it hit the world.

McCartney said "It’s actually just the introduction that’s influenced [by the Beach Boys]… John and I used to be interested in what the old fashioned writers used to call the verse, which we nowadays would call the intro…this whole preamble to a song, and I wanted to have one of those on the front of ‘Here, There and Everywhere.’ John and I were quite into those from the old-fashioned songs that used to have them, and in putting that [sings “To lead a better life”] on the front of ‘Here, There and Everywhere,’ we were doing harmonies, and the inspiration for that was the Beach Boys. We had that in our minds during the introduction to ‘Here, There and Everywhere.’ " He claimed to have come up with the song's chords while sitting next to the swimming pool at Lennon's house in Weybridge waiting for Lennon to wake up.

Three out of four of the Beatles used Voormann as a bassist several times. He played with Lennon on the singles Cold Turkey, Instant Karma!, and Power to the People, and on the albums Plastic Ono Band, Imagine, Walls and Bridges, and Rock 'n' Roll. He also played at a 1969 performance for a UNICEF concert that made up part of the Live Jam section of Lennon's Some Time In New York City album. He played with George Harrison on four albums: All Things Must Pass, Living in the Material World, Dark Horse, and Extra Texture (Read All About It), and he played at the Concert for Bangladesh shows. He played with Ringo Starr on three albums: Ringo, Goodnight Vienna, and Ringo's Rotogravure. And he worked with many others besides the former Beatles.

As some have said, Paul was the king of melodies and harmonies. Between his time with the Beatles and his own as a solo artist, probably more hit songs with catchy melodies than any other artist. Elton John was also a Melody/Harmony genius.

If you ever isolate the bass on this song (the mono version especially) there is some hidden magic in some of the mini-riffs he's laying down. I can't even explain it but it is one of the flashes of genus in already brilliant catalog

I was 3 or 4 when they were on Ed Sullivan. Grew up with them. And thanks to a very cool and good friend was able to see Paul in Toronto. Thanks Grant. 😊

Great memories. I was eight when they were on Ed Sullivan the first time. I'll never forget my teenage sister running into the living room hollering, "The Beatles are on! The Beatles are on!", as she switched the station from the cartoons l was watching. 😄 They were a big deal and had a huge impact on me.

None of their songs sounds the same as the next one, but they all sound like the Beatles. Unique in all popular music from the 60s to present day.

This is one of the Beatles best. George Benson did a really beautiful cover of this one if anyone wants to take a listen to his take.

The Beatles are Gods gift, that’s why we can’t explain it. It is special sad and happy. The key is their songs make you feel a certain way. We’re just left to shake our heads in amazement! I went and saw the movie Argylle yesterday and the Beatles new song then and now is in the movie! How cool is that! I’m only sleeping won a Grammy couple weeks a go! Absolutely amazing!

I have very much enjoyed watching you young gentleman. This is pure McCartney regarding the Beatles, the writer of the song is usually the lead singer of the song. McCartney plays, almost all the bass and many other instruments on pretty much all of their songs.

Many many of the Beatles songs have a mystical feeling about them. Like they tapped right into the spirit world.

McCartney composed this with Four Tops Harmonies, and Beach Boys in the back of his mind. His bass playing was heavily influenced by Motown bassist Jimmy Jamison who played on everything out of Motown. Some of their best early covers were Motown tunes. Revolver is another animal where they take the influences and mould them. Like Bowie would later. And they weren't 26 yet!

I think there are only a couple of occasions when someone other than Paul is playing bass other than Paul. Maybe three or four tracks on all of their recording history - usually because Paul was at the piano. Paul plays drums on Back in the USSR and The Ballad of John and Yoko. And he plays guitar - sometimes lead - on more tracks than you think.

I love your reactions to The Beatles music so much. Love all your reactions, but this music is different, as you said. I was 10yo when the Beatles came to America. The radio was always playing one of their songs. We all grew up listening to this beautiful music. Thank you for this one. ✌Hi from NYC.

You guys got it right. The Beatles gift of melody was unique. Their music is typically joyful/bittersweet with a spark of the playful and innocent even as they matured. Glad you're visiting their albums!
