I've seen many dying plants in corners of stores. This is like a rescue mission. Keep up the good work 👏 😊
Thanks!
This reminds me of when I bought a discounted orchid from home depot or Lowe’s. It took a while to recover but now it’s blooming 😊
Matty slowly getting into the sneaker cult
I’ve been using one of these for a humidity chamber for a few plants. It seems to work great
You got me with the wedding card box, and now the shoe box next hmm... time to do some searching!
Those clear shoe boxes are a hot item at Costco. They use to sell em in a 2 pack, now in a 4 pack. I have a feeling they will be around for a while.
I love the plants and boxes. I could make more space for more plants. I love to try and rescue rather than spend more money when there is a risk of me killing it before i figure it out. Eventually the plant will get to where i want it if im patient and learn to care for it.
One thing that I think may have saved me from pests have been to repot immediately after getting them, washing the whole plant by submersing it in water and soap/some pesticide, root cleaning/dunking them in a peroxid solution, and using sterilized soil that I innoculate. It's a rough transplant shock, but I hate seeing unwanted guests.
Last comment: this Costco shoebox IS cool. I’ve been wanting to make some sort of terrarium that also looks good on a budget. Thanks for sharing
Those clear boxes are great. I wonder if I can find them somewhere besides Costco 🤔
Great video!
There are many online
Bingo! That's actually the right box for "The Great Pothos Race" plant. Put a mug filled with water in the box also, that helps for faster growing.
Amazing idea, I already have some that are bigger shoe boxes and from walmart I use them for gesneriad propagation. I never thought of using them for quarantine! You have to be careful though the acrylic scratches easy. They are just two piece and can hold water too, they have like 3 little holes on each side which is great for a tiny bit of ventilation or you can just put a piece of tape over it. They are around 6-7 dollars.
I saw those boxes at Costco and had the same idea as you. I was just worried about the gaps in it
Gaps are pretty small and in certain orientation the gaps would be like almost 1/2 up from the bottom if you were to spray water it shouldn't leak out super easy
I’m totally getting those boxes! Just picked up a philo ring of fire and a luxurians x radicans anthurium on clearance from the same garden center. These plants were hundreds of dollars each a few years ago. It’s too cold to have them shipped here so I’m going to try reviving these. It’s my late winter/early spring project.
Every time I go past the discount rack at Lowe's I have to resist the urge to grab some of the not-technically-dead-yet plants to see if I can resuscitate them. I'm trying to force myself to not buy new plants until I can figure out how to make space for more though.
Those are super cool looking
Im lookin for these tmrw
That pumping chest tho 🫨
call it a hero complex but i always check out the discount section and see if some (discounted) plants need a little help & hope 🙈
I recently got an Orbifolia which is still entirely in peat moss.. It‘s done the best of any orbifolia I ever had but would anyone recommend taking it out of the peat moss? 🤔
Awesome video again Mat!Thank you for your info & inspo 😉
Niiice! Gotta go tho,.....gotta go to costco😂
That Philodendron Mamei looks like the 'Silver Cloud' cultivar. Is that right?
Nice tip! Do you think it'd need some modification to keep humidity?
great video thank you ! what do you do with all your plants ? sell them ?
Yeah any plants i get from that store immediately get dunked in insecticides and re potted with systemic i dont mess around with that store great plantsl selection horrible horrible conditions especially in the bigger city locations its a shame
It's pretty crazy lol
Death Row ! hahaha
You don’t water them after repotting?
Promo*SM 👏
anyone with a costco membership wanna snag those for me 😭 ill pay you i promise
The plant industry is becoming single-use. "If it isn't pretty, throw it away." Single-use plants in single-use plastic. OhMy! We do what we can to rescue & rehome, right?
any lemon tree updates?
