Good to hear you mention EarthBound finally, always saw it in the background. I'm relieved to hear you like it a much as me. My top 10? As series, Pokémon, MOTHER, and Golden Sun are the only ones that mean a lot to me. I didn't know what an RPG was until Golden Sun so I missed out on all of the 90's classics when they were new. Also really like Lufia, as it reminds me of Golden Sun.
In terms of the Sega line of RPGs, I was always bigger on the Shining Force games than Phantasy Star. My personal number one would almost certainly be Xenogears, but I'd put Chrono Trigger/Chrono Cross right up there, too. Like most people probably were, I was actually sort of shocked that Chrono Trigger didn't earn a spot here. My top 10 console RPGs: 1. Phantasy Star 1- no doubt the best (sorry FF fans, this is far better, wicked hard, 3-D 14 story dungeons, and best graphics. 2. Panzer Dragoon Saga (Saturn) - epic incarnate with a world so unique (designed by Moebius)... Buy a Saturn and this game! 3. Skies of Arcadia (DC)- character and ship battles! 4. Shining Force 3- grid tactics perfected 5. Lunar 2 (SegaCD) destroys FF 6. Lunar 1 (SegaCD) 7. Vay (a rare one- buy it if you see it) 8. Grandia 2 (DC)- beautiful "Traditional RPG", 9. Wonderboy 3 (Master System)- it's an action RPG with 6-7 swappable creatures to change to- expansive! 10. Miracle Warriors (SMS)- not as polished or gorgeous as Phantasy Star 1, but a classic! Killing Terrerin was a proud moment for me and my brother.
Phantasy Star IV is my favorite game of all time , very Solid list , i also would have included Grandia 2 on the dreamcast that an Skies of Arcadia took up most of my time back in the day
I'd pick; Wonderboy 3 the dragons trap, landstalker, story of thor(beyond oasis), demon's souls, shining force 2, Oblivion, Knights of the old republic, Torico, Dark Souls, Fable.
My 10: 1- VAGRANT STORY (yes, with capitals. My top RPG ever) 2- Dragon Quest 8 3- Zelda 3 4- Xeno series (Xenogears, Xenosaga) 5- Persona series 6- Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne (a beast of a game) 7- Breath Of Fire III 8- Mass Effect 9- Ni No Kuni 10- Valkyria Chronicles Runner ups: Chrono series (Chross, trigger), Baldur's Gate, Final Fantasy series, Parasite Eve 1 and many others.
10. Shining Force Ep1 - 3 9. Shenmue 2 8. Xenogears 7. Final Fantasy 6 6. Dragon Quest 5 SFC version 5. Chrono Cross 4. Panzer Dragoon Saga 3. Chrono Trigger 2. Final Fantasy 7 1. Dragon Quest 8 Maybe tomorrow it will be a different list
I hope you have played the previous Star Ocean games because The Last Hope was fucking awful in comparison to them. The dialogue in that game is just beyond a shadow of a doubt some of the worst dialogue in any game. My humble recommendation is The Second Story if you haven't played it. I can still hear Lymle saying kay... even after 5 years it still haunts me.
Awesome and inspiring video. I really appreciate the enthusiasm and know I'm always getting a legit opinion. I'd love some recommendations on rpgs with AMAZING stories and characters. The kind that draw you in and you cant wait to get back to.
lost odyssey... YES dragon quest... YES final fantasy... YES, although I don't like the 13 series at all, and I just fail to get hyped about 15. the elder scrolls... YES and here for some of my personal favorites the souls games, demons souls, dark souls, bloodborne shadow hearts series kingdom hearts series persona series and digital devil saga mostly but also other shin megami tensei stuff rogue galaxy ni no kuni
oh right... how could I forget the star ocean series and tales of vesperia, symphonia and graces(sorry, the other tales of games are not part of my favorites)
Your pick for Phantasy Star as number 1 has earned you my respect and subscription! You picked it for the same reasons I do. In fact, it was though Phantasy Star II that I learned how to read. Great series and so overlooked.
I'm surprised Chrono Trigger didn't make this list since your a Dragon Warrior and Final Fantasy series fan. That game broke the mold for RPG console by bringing in the time travel and fantasy element before FFVII. I can't believe you didn't even mentioned the Lufia series. Lufia 2 is probably the best RPG of all time. The characters, the story, the MUSIC, heck even the villains are timeless.
+GSS1Sirius Lufia 2 is one of the best RPG games, I agree. I do not have SNES or SNES games no more, so I rely on re-playing my childhood games through Emulator on my laptop. Well, I started Lufia 2 and I put in some game genie codes for like , easy level up etc,. I just want to play through the story and enjoy it, since I have not much time to play games these days. Well, after 3hrs in, the emulator game froze up, because of the codes I guess. Some games fuck up when you enter cheat codes. This was 1 month ago. Guess I will have to start a new game and not use codes. But uhh yeah, Lufia 2. Great game. {im talking about the SNES Lufia 2, not the remake DS 3d version. }
Lufia in general don't get much love since people may think its just a generic rpg, but they're missing out a lot on the Lufia 2. Can't say the same on Fortress of Doom as I thought gameplay was mediocre and repetitive and seemed unforgiving. The story is fine. Character and monster design is pretty good. Music is good but Yasonori Shiono got even better on Lufia 2. Lufia 2 had puzzlesolving in dungeons, which was a feature I didn't expect to see and I liked that a lot. Dungeons have no random enemy encounters you can see and skip most monsters yay. Heck I might even like Lufia 2 more than FFVI, kinda wished that you didn't overlevel so quickly once you got the boat at endgame as killing the final boss was really easy.
+J.I Mendaro - True it is up to each their own to decide what a good rpg is. However people have a thing to judge a game for story more than gameplay unfortunately.
Anybody to list Phantasy star in 1st should be between the coolest person ever!! Even me who love the serie would be afraid to list it first, and not mention Chrono Trigger... you earned a new subscriber!!
10. Vagrant Story 9. Secret of Mana (Seiken Densetsu 2) 8. Chrono Trigger 7. Brave Fencer Musashiden 6. Super Mario RPG 5. Knights of the Old Republic 4. Final Fantasy Tactics or Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together 3. Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance 2. Final Fantasy IX Honorable Mention: Shadowrun (SNES version) 1. Deus Ex: The Conspiracy (PS2 port) Although Deus Ex had absurdly long load times on the PS2, it sacrificed none of the features that collectively make Deus Ex the greatest game ever made. People might question why FFVI does not appear on my list, and the reason why is because like II, III, V, VII, VIII, and X, all character abilities get wiped out into vanilla by the game's end. FFIX is more seamless between story and gameplay, in that character abilities *reflect* the character's unique narrative role, making them more interesting and engaging. Overall, it was like a more mature iteration of FFIV, just the right mixture of classic Sakaguchi and PS1 visuals.
First of all, I think Sir Astral approves your comment. Secondly... Shining Force II is my favorite game of ALL time, in ANY platform. So you're not alone =D *plays epic music* Korry Scott joined the Shining Force! =D ehehe
I accidentally played Shining Force, and love it as hell, I played tons of rpg games in my life, mostly PC rpg , but Shining games are top games that I played in my life , I love the fighting and the artwork, and the story was good. Shiningforcecentral was something that I liked to visit a lot on the net.
awesome list right there, I dunno what my top 10 would be but games like Skyrim and the other elder scrolls game (apart from online) , Final Fantasy games (before X) Suikoden series, Fallout series, Wild Arms 2, Star Ocean 1 & 2 and so many more. I love RPGs so much without a doubt my fav sort of games. :)
I have too many on the list. Here's my top 4 and why: 1. Legend of Legaia - (The most unique battle system in the PS1 RPG history. Great story but typical silent main character) 2. Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete - (It's a child-like yet fun game. Same vibe to Popolocrois but much better. I love the opening theme. At first I thought I bought a anime movie instead of a game.) 3. Final Fantasy series - (It's plain awesome. My 1st FF game is FFVI) 4. Kingdom Hearts - (JRPG w/ Disney characters is cool.)
7:55 - I have to disagree with "a game that wouldn't exist until Skyrim". Skyrim is the same as Oblivion with better graphics, and Oblivion itself being a modernised version of Morrowind. All of the Elder Scrolls series have had huge open worlds. Even Daggerfall from 1996 had a bigger open world than Skyrim. They are not as well made as Skyrim of course.
wow man, that's totally crazy, I remember buying it from Willow too. I went to the newton one as a kid and I went one day to get a game for my birthday, and I vividly remember getting that one based on the size of the box and that it was an RPG. I love Phantasy Star too man, 1-4 is the best story arc in the 8 and 16 bit generations.
@@JM-fh1tv Uh... "a little outdated" why does that matter when it comes to subjective opinions on people's favourite RPG's?. Not to mention that almost all of these are "a little outdated" for today's standards, doesn't change how fantastic they are or the emount of joy and emotion they conjure for people.
So glad I checked out this vid. And I am glad Phantasy Star on SMS was the game that made you interested in RPGs and still makes your top of the list. It's the same for me. I would say the adventure of going to different worlds, riding in vehicles, cinemas that push the story and the 3d dungeons put this one on top foe me too. I think I day dreamed a lot more after finishing that game and hoped Sega would put out the mother of all Phantasy Stars on Sega Cd when that came to market. Still Lunar is awesome and I love Dark Wizard. I would love to see the original team develop a new PS and keep it retro-rrific. Good list.
Guess what, Zelda, not an RPG. Unless you take RPG very literal, then yes, Zelda is an RPG, but then so is every game ever, in fact one could argue that life itself is an RPG. We are all living in one giant open world RPG.
I'd argue that Zelda kinda is an RPG. You find loot, you fight enemies in dungeons, you kinda level up aspects of your character (hearts, magic, swords, clothing). The only way in which it's not, is you don't make choice and consequence decisions (but then, you don't in almost all JRPGs either).
Glad you mentioned Lost Odyssey, I have a feeling that game is truly excellent and I'm going to enjoy it. Takehiko Inoue's (Vagabond, Slam Dunk) design is beautiful, but unfortunately I havent played it at all. Too bad that it's a 360 exclusive, and you're also right about people passing it up, which killed the chance of it being a franchise.
Thats so awesome that u had phantasy star @ #1! I'm the exact same way with the series. I was never into video games until I played the 3rd game (the one nobody likes but is actually my favorite 1) and is definitely the most underrated rpg ever! I actually have gone out of order and beaten the 3rd (3 times now) and then 4th, went back and almost beat the 2nd (rom on phone got corrupted) and I'm now going through the 1st game. Definitely recommend the game for any rpg fan.
Caleb Godwin its got a boring story and setting, and some of the most bland combat on earth im not even an RPG fan, but id take Persona 4 or Legend of Grimrock over it any day of the week hell even fallout 3 was better
+joseaca How can you admit you dont like rpgs and yet try and make someone else feel bad for liking a game? Smh dont be like that dude. Gamers gotta be nicer to one another.
+Itsame66 i CAN like RPGs, like i said i greatly enjoyed the Legend of Grimrock series and Persona 4, and had my fun with Fallout 3, regardless i cannot find any redeeming qualities about skyrim that elevate the game above average, is just that, average, average combat, average story, average world, nothing ever impressed me in the generous 10 hours i gave the game to impress me
Thats a good list! Glad you're got Lost Odyssey on the list, since very few players got this on their radar. My pic for 1 would actually by xenogears. It just changed my life.
First time seeing your channel. Love the review style and the nonobjective review style. I really stopped being what I consider to be a "gamer" once the newer generation systems started coming out. Which for me era would be Playstation and N64. SNES being the zenith for me although I did continue to buy newer consoles however my library per console dwindled dramatically. Thanks for bringing back that nostalgic kick. I'll be subscribing, looking forward to catching up on your other videos and the new ones.
Skyrim is definitely so amazing. I honestly feel like I'm in the game. There is so much to do it's ridiculous. Sometimes I just stand on a cliff and watch the sunrise and feel hppy! ^_^ I am so excited to see what Elder Scrolls VI will be about. I love FF 8 and 10. It's crazy. Back in the day if you liked FF and met others who did it was like this little bond. Ok I'm going to admit, I was really hoping you'd list Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic on your list. Really loved that RPG and was happy to play it twice.
Man, I have been deep into JRPGs since I was really young, although I was only born in 1991. I just saw your top 10 favorite anime films list and now, after watching this, I must say that its very refreshing to hear from a person whose words really carry a different type of weight than what I am used to. Just the insane amount of knowledge and the size of your collection that you have gathered is awesome. I feel like in my lifestyle I simply don't encounter people who have this type of passion for Japanese games, which saddens me as it was a very important part of my growing up. So its nice to watch this video and I am most certainly going to play some of these (the ones I haven't played). All in all, I think that your opinion on these things really does belong somewhere english speakers can see it--particularly people in newer generations.

I'm really glad you mentioned Lost Odyssey, no on mentions it, most of your list a totally agree with, some of them would be moved of course, and I haven't played Xenogears. Other then that, fantastic list Johnny!
I love watching your videos because I usually agree with you. If I had made a list of my favorite RPGs, I would have included the same games in the same exact order. On the other hand, no one understands why I love so much the Phantasy Star saga. I've played a lot of rpg's, but none of them have made me feel the same as PS I or PS IV. Take care, mate.
This is the video that made me subscribe. Your enthusiasm it great, and you reminded me about Lost Odyssey which as you said every one just glossed over I'll have to pick it up. 1 Suikoden 2 Tales of 3 Breath of Fire 4 Xenogears 5 Lunar 6 Growlanser 7 Legend of Dragoon 8 Arc the Lad 9 Chrono Trigger 10 SaGa Star Ocean, Skies of Arcadia, Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy are right up there Going into the archive now to see if you ever released your Xeno video.
Great choices johnny. Dark souls is my favourite game of all time and is considered to be a rpg. I love the fallout series, the elder scrolls series and all the shin Megami tensai games also.
My gosh, I subscribed recently and I'm so used to you having a beard, was completely taken back when I saw this in my suggestions and you were beardless! You look great either way!
Amazing list Johnny! I have been waiting for the video for a long time and I have to say that your list of RPGs is stellar! Some games that I would include on my list would have to be Grandia, Xenoblade, Legend of Dragoon and Legend of Legaia. I never got to play the Phantasy Star games, but I recently picked up the first two titles and will be diving into them sometime soon... hopefully!
If you haven't ever played Legend of Legaia for the ps1, I'd highly recommend you give it a fair shake. It has a unique battle system, especially for the era in which it was released. A top 10 list would be really difficult for me to decide on, but that game would definitely be in high consideration. I love your videos man. Keep up the good work.
I really agree with you on every title! However, Mass Effect 2 deserves a place in my list too. Possibly, the RPG with the best character development I´ve ever played. They are so deep and so different one from the others... Lovely video man.
I loved the list man, all those games r awesome. I still need to play lunar and phantasy star games since u talk so highly of them. I'm suprised I didn't see chrono trigger on there. Me personally my top rpg of all time is shining force 2 for the sega genesis. I kno it's a strategy rpg but it is my all time favorite rpg of all time , u Should do a video on some top strategy games u like. Hopefully I'll see the shining series up there
Cool vid , for me its FF9 , Dragonquest 8 , Pokemon , the Digital devil saga , Persona 3 , Gods eater burst ,Breath of fire 3, Skyrim , Shadow hearts ,Chrono trigger .
I finally beat Xenogears last night. Thanks for the recommendation! The first time I watched this video I decided to go out and buy it, and GD that was a good game 😊.
That's an awesome idea. Johnny's been into anime for a long time (for example, his Anime Rocks! video). He could help introduce many series to a lot of his fans by doing a top ten list.

Thanks Richard!
and its nice to see that since this video Earthbound went from being 1000 bucks down to 34-60 bucks now apparently lol
If you watch his channel a long time, you will know that he’s very passionate!
Grandia 2 ... totally underrated. One of the most endearing RPGs for the console that I've ever played.

Thank you for mentioning Lost Odyssey, it's still shocking how many console gamers either haven't heard of, or played this fantastic RPG.
Xenogears is the best unfinished game you'll ever play in your lifetime.
i wish they did one like it again
I wish it could be re release for people like me who didn't get the chance to play them
This is a true comment
@@bugsterlincapoop7900 it’s on ps3, psp, and vita. but I agree, it should be on steam and modern platforms

Chrono Trigger is God Tier
+Dingohnter It was such a great time for RPG's. I think the tech at the time worked well for RPG's. Best Zelda game imo from the SNES too.
Terranigma for me was superior to Illusion.
Glad you included Lost Odyssey !

PineKushDude You sir, have great taste in games!
My 10:
1- VAGRANT STORY (yes, with capitals. My top RPG ever)
2- Dragon Quest 8
3- Zelda 3
4- Xeno series (Xenogears, Xenosaga)

7- Breath Of Fire III
8- Mass Effect
9- Ni No Kuni
10- Valkyria Chronicles
Runner ups: Chrono series (Chross, trigger), Baldur's Gate, Final Fantasy series, Parasite Eve 1 and many others.
Damn u played some good games!
I forget about these old videos lol good stuff
That is a great RPG list. Is was nice to meet u at the PRGE 2013 and thanks for signing my NES. Keep up the good work!
10. Shining Force Ep1 - 3
9. Shenmue 2
8. Xenogears
7. Final Fantasy 6
6. Dragon Quest 5 SFC version
5. Chrono Cross
4. Panzer Dragoon Saga
3. Chrono Trigger
2. Final Fantasy 7
1. Dragon Quest 8
Maybe tomorrow it will be a different list
Star Ocean: The Last Hope is definitely my favorite RPG of all time. Dragon Age: Origins will always be a close second though
@@SageOwl "poison pills! Poison pills!" Lol
Awesome and inspiring video. I really appreciate the enthusiasm and know I'm always getting a legit opinion. I'd love some recommendations on rpgs with AMAZING stories and characters. The kind that draw you in and you cant wait to get back to.
love your channel.. . just great work, I'm so happy that I found your channel by considence a long ime ago
Cheers for somebody giving Lost Odyssey it's due.
lost odyssey... YES
dragon quest... YES
final fantasy... YES, although I don't like the 13 series at all, and I just fail to get hyped about 15.
the elder scrolls... YES
and here for some of my personal favorites
the souls games, demons souls, dark souls, bloodborne
shadow hearts series
kingdom hearts series
persona series and digital devil saga mostly but also other shin megami tensei stuff
rogue galaxy
ni no kuni
oh right... how could I forget the star ocean series and tales of vesperia, symphonia and graces(sorry, the other tales of games are not part of my favorites)
+HushedTerror oh, and NIER.
shadow hearts was my favorite RPG ever :P
Also loved the dark cloud games
Thumbs up for rogue galaxy
Thank you for mentioning the Phantasy Star series. You sir are a true connoisseur.
Q('-'Q) meow POW POW!! - cabbit FFXI Seraph/Bismarck and still harassing Mithra/miqote on FFXIV Balmung1. Dragon Warrior III Nintendo2. Final Fantasy II Super Nintendo3. Kingdom Hearts PS110. Secret of Mana Super Nintendo\(^-^)/ bow chica meow POW POW WOot woOT!!
I can't believe you didn't even mentioned the Lufia series. Lufia 2 is probably the best RPG of all time. The characters, the story, the MUSIC, heck even the villains are timeless.
+GSS1Sirius Lufia 2 is one of the best RPG games, I agree. I do not have SNES or SNES games no more, so I rely on re-playing my childhood games through Emulator on my laptop. Well, I started Lufia 2 and I put in some game genie codes for like , easy level up etc,. I just want to play through the story and enjoy it, since I have not much time to play games these days. Well, after 3hrs in, the emulator game froze up, because of the codes I guess.
Some games fuck up when you enter cheat codes. This was 1 month ago. Guess I will have to start a new game and not use codes.
But uhh yeah, Lufia 2. Great game. {im talking about the SNES Lufia 2, not the remake DS 3d version. }
I prefer this game over Chrono Trigger
Anybody to list Phantasy star in 1st should be between the coolest person ever!! Even me who love the serie would be afraid to list it first, and not mention Chrono Trigger... you earned a new subscriber!!
All fantastic games! And thank you for mentioning Lost Odyssey :)
10. Vagrant Story
9. Secret of Mana (Seiken Densetsu 2)
8. Chrono Trigger
7. Brave Fencer Musashiden
6. Super Mario RPG
5. Knights of the Old Republic
4. Final Fantasy Tactics or Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together
3. Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance
2. Final Fantasy IX
Honorable Mention: Shadowrun (SNES version)
1. Deus Ex: The Conspiracy (PS2 port)
Although Deus Ex had absurdly long load times on the PS2, it sacrificed none of the features that collectively make Deus Ex the greatest game ever made.
J.I Mendaro are u deaf ??
Never any love for Shining Force II. I must be the only one.
No you're not. I love me some Sf and Sf2. Also Shining in the Darkness is one of my favorites ^^
First of all, I think Sir Astral approves your comment. Secondly... Shining Force II is my favorite game of ALL time, in ANY platform. So you're not alone =D *plays epic music* Korry Scott joined the Shining Force! =D ehehe
I love al the shining force saga, from 1 to 3
I accidentally played Shining Force, and love it as hell, I played tons of rpg games in my life, mostly PC rpg , but Shining games are top games that I played in my life , I love the fighting and the artwork, and the story was good.
Shiningforcecentral was something that I liked to visit a lot on the net.
SF2>>>>>>>Every other game made
I just started Lost Odyssey a couple days ago because of this video. I love it, thanks for the suggestion!
awesome list right there, I dunno what my top 10 would be but games like Skyrim and the other elder scrolls game (apart from online) , Final Fantasy games (before X) Suikoden series, Fallout series, Wild Arms 2, Star Ocean 1 & 2 and so many more. I love RPGs so much without a doubt my fav sort of games. :)
I have too many on the list. Here's my top 4 and why:
1. Legend of Legaia - (The most unique battle system in the PS1 RPG history. Great story but typical silent main character)
2. Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete - (It's a child-like yet fun game. Same vibe to Popolocrois but much better. I love the opening theme. At first I thought I bought a anime movie instead of a game.)
3. Final Fantasy series - (It's plain awesome. My 1st FF game is FFVI)
4. Kingdom Hearts - (JRPG w/ Disney characters is cool.)
Mido Ban Legend of Legaia is one of my favorites, and sadly never mentioned. It's definitely a hidden gem.
Phantasy Star, Ys, Dragon Quest! You got yourself a new subscriber
YES. Thank you for mentioning Lost Odyssey. My favorite RPG of all time.
Shadowrun for the Genesis? ?
Anyone?
SNES one was better.
@@moonie9000 WHAHAHA
I agree completely, Souls games made Skyrim look real bad to me.
wow man, that's totally crazy, I remember buying it from Willow too.
I went to the newton one as a kid and I went one day to get a game for my birthday, and I vividly remember getting that one based on the size of the box and that it was an RPG.
I love Phantasy Star too man, 1-4 is the best story arc in the 8 and 16 bit generations.
I really enjoy all of your videos. :)
FF6, Dragon Warrior 1, Grandia 2, Skies of Arcadia were my favorites.
Chrono Trigger/Cross and Pokémon are crying :'(
pokemon on a list of console games?
+Girthquake42 Colosseum and gale of darkness? 😃
warriors code
good games but not worthy of being in a top ten list imo
Girthquake42 well alright 😎
Great choice with the Guardian Hero music!!!!
Good list.
You forgot Chrono Trigger m8
Kristoffer Armfelt CT sucks
He may not like it as much as you do buddy, and that's ok
I was surprised not to see Zelda or Fallout in this list, they are some of the best in my opinion.
zelda not a rpg......
zelda is not an rpg
Guess what, Zelda, not an RPG. Unless you take RPG very literal, then yes, Zelda is an RPG, but then so is every game ever, in fact one could argue that life itself is an RPG. We are all living in one giant open world RPG.
I thought it was, my bad.
Definitely recommend the game for any rpg fan.
skyrim really?
that game is hot garbage, its one of the most mediocre games ive ever played
You're wrong... im sorry, but you're wrong
Caleb Godwin its got a boring story and setting, and some of the most bland combat on earth
im not even an RPG fan, but id take Persona 4 or Legend of Grimrock over it any day of the week
hell even fallout 3 was better
+joseaca How can you admit you dont like rpgs and yet try and make someone else feel bad for liking a game? Smh dont be like that dude. Gamers gotta be nicer to one another.
+Itsame66 i CAN like RPGs, like i said i greatly enjoyed the Legend of Grimrock series and Persona 4, and had my fun with Fallout 3, regardless i cannot find any redeeming qualities about skyrim that elevate the game above average, is just that, average, average combat, average story, average world, nothing ever impressed me in the generous 10 hours i gave the game to impress me
+Cookie Slayer so what? are you going to tell me skyrim has good combat? good story? good world? because that is a great goddamn joke
sickest earthbound shirt i've ever seen, awesome list too. props johnny
Also ignore the typos lol
Metal Max / Metal Saga, Lufia, Saga Frontier, and Arc The Lad...... RPGs Series That helped shape my childhood an Thank you for your videos.
Shadowrun Snes..great game...Just going through Skyrim now.....great channel by the way
Skyrim is definitely so amazing.
Really loved that RPG and was happy to play it twice.
the world exploration and the character customization are the best parts. Love the ES series
Your descriptions of Lost Odyssey is spot on. It really is an under unappreciated Gem

Other then that, fantastic list Johnny!
my fave game genre..the staple of my video gaming obssession :) love jrpgs the most!
I really love your channer and your passion for games.
you have inspired me to play Lost Odyssey again! It's an awesome game! Cheers
Thanks, you really nailed it with this video. I'm subscribing to your channel because of this.
Good to see other people mentioning Dark Cloud! I loved the first one, never got to play the second.
This is the video that made me subscribe. Your enthusiasm it great, and you reminded me about Lost Odyssey which as you said every one just glossed over I'll have to pick it up.
1 Suikoden 2 Tales of 3 Breath of Fire 4 Xenogears 5 Lunar 6 Growlanser 7 Legend of Dragoon 8 Arc the Lad 9 Chrono Trigger 10 SaGa
Star Ocean, Skies of Arcadia, Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy are right up there
Going into the archive now to see if you ever released your Xeno video.
You look great either way!
haha hey! it even weirds me out to see no beard!
Always good coming back to some odies
Lost Odyssey is amazing! I also enjoyed Blue Dragon from Mistwalker! Keep doing top 10s! They are so much fun!
Guardian Heroes music on the background !
Awesome game, one of my favorite 2D of all time !
EarthBound music is soooo soothing.. You truly can't be stressed while listening to that :-)
I really agree with you on every title! However, Mass Effect 2 deserves a place in my list too. Possibly, the RPG with the best character development I´ve ever played. They are so deep and so different one from the others... Lovely video man.
Great video! I would agree with you, the Phantasy Star series is the best RPG series I've ever played.
That also remains one of my favorites, great call.
Hellz yeah bro. I'm re-playing P3 FES on my PS2, what a great game let alone franchise
Love Hyperdimension Neptunia as well, especially Victory. Nice to see another fan of that series.
Man, this video is historical for me!!!
