    It’s a lighter beer. Which is refreshing and good on a summer’s day. It’s like saying a summer light ale doesn’t have enough body. Body is subjective and not necessarily to everyone’s taste. It seems that you like fuller beer. It’s a bit like saying you don’t like red burgundy Pinot noir because it’s too light compared to Bordeaux.

    Completely disagree, I have to say! Great Weissbier in my eyes and a classic name from Munich. I loved it in bottle and on tap in Munich!

      The Bier Hooligan - But that’s the thing, I don’t do that! This for me, stood out as having a different more orange like taste to it when I was in Munich after days of drinking Augustiner, Ayinger, Weihenstephan, Schneider etc. What can I say, I like them all for different reasons and that won’t change. 🤷🏻‍♂️

      Karl Rouse I agree this beer is behind some of the best Weizens. But most sites have it in the upper 10 percent for the style. I thin that is right. It is a solid beer. I do think their lagers are relatively better.
      I will put it to you this way, send me a .5 and it will not go to waste.

      I love Paulaner, classic taste of a german weissbeer. Erdinger is bad, that's the Carlsberg of weizens. And Lidl's Perlenbacher/Patronus is not good at all.

    Enjoyed your review Mark - as unflinching and direct as ever. Obviously agree that it doesn’t compare to Weihenstephaner, Schneider Weisse (Tap 7) or Maisel’s Weisse but I don’t think Paulaner is as bad as you thought. I did my Instagram review last week on the same drink and was more charitable after drinking two bottles and quite enjoying them. I certainly don’t think Petronius is a better drink! Anyway, good up the good work and the great reviews! ‘UKWEISSBIERFAN’

    I have just had a 5L mini keg of this and it has taken me along time to finish it which is not like me with a wheat beer, before I have even looked up any reviews on CZcams about this I thought from the moment I tasted it that it was a bit of a let down for me personally, but then my favorite wheat beer is Patronus as an every day go to and weihenstephaner as a special treat, and that's just down to the price.
    I did find that it was a bit too watery and lacked the body and flavor that I like, however that could be down to personal preference and taste, everybody's different and have their own likes and tastes, I personally like the Lidl Patronus over the Aldi one, and would go for that every time but just down to price I would pick the Aldi one over the Paulaner, but that's just me we are all different and know what we personally like and prefer.

    Personally I like it, it's a great session beer. I drink lots of Weisse beers, and Heffe's it's all good.
    What's your favorite?

      @johncallaghan8854 Před 4 lety

      Yeah it's definitely in my top 5 along with
      Hacker-pschorr, Franziskaner, Ayinger Bräuweisse and Paulaner
      Hard to find good Heffe's on tap here in Florida, but we also have some decent local craft brews.
      Funky Buddha Floridian being my current favorite.
      Loving the channel mate, I'm ex pat Limey living in Florida last 20 years and I'm just starting the process of building a back yard beer garden! That's how I found your channel.

    Did a comparison with brewing buddy with this vs Weiehenstephaner. To me it was very clear the the Weiehenstephaner was the best, but my mate prefered the Paulaner; which I consider a bit better than average. For me is definitely better than an Erdinger and other cheaper hefe weissbiers including the Lidl one which I have had a few times now.

    @josephmacaluso1353 Před 4 lety +3

    I say better than average, but to me it a little more bitter and drying at the end to Weiehenstephaner. I would grade better than Erdinger, but not Schneider or even close to Weihenstephaner.

    To be fair: Paulaner was great, they brew 'open top'. Then Heineken took partly over and since that fusion they brew pisswater as Heineken does, but you can get it everywhere on the globus as Heineken. Paulaner became a global player without soul anymore. Probably they have to use ingrediants from Heineken brewery?

  • @AA-uf3bl
    @AA-uf3bl Před 4 lety

    I don't think you need to swish the bottle or give it a roll as, unlike Erdinger and a few other wheat beer brands, there's no yeast sediment left in any Paulaner bottle. Check it out yourself to agree with me - and compare it to an Erdinger bottle, if you wanted to.

    • @AA-uf3bl
      @AA-uf3bl Před 4 lety

      Because they assume that any bottle of wheat beer has a yeast sediment at the bottom of the bottle, and this is not the case for every brand of wheat beer. If you've a full bottle of Paulaner Hefe-Weizen left around you, have a look at it and you won't see any yeast sediment in it. While in Erdinger Weißbier, which is my favourite Weißbier, there's a fair amount of yeast sediment at the bottom of the bottle.
      Anyhow, swirling, or rolling the bottle, doesn't cost anything, and it makes sure that we make use of any yeast sediment left in the bottle.

    I would not have an Erdinger over this. That is a lower blow than Carlsberg of weizen to me. Erdinger has no or very little Yeast character. I get this one when they change the label, but honestly it is not as good to me as the Hefe that is canned and brewed in Texas from Altstadt.
