What a great bloke, gave me huge pleasure watching him ride ! Glad he's able to enjoy the fruits of the labour and challenges he had to overcome on a regular basis.
I am 67 years old and I still ride motorcycles on the streets I still wear your arai doohan helmet it is very deteriorated I do not have a new one, but you are still my champion. Greetings from Spain
Became the legends cause of riders that could actually ride them at the limit and live to tell engineers where the weak spits were. Engineers built them, doohan and others made them legends
@@spartanthe300ththermopylae4 yeah maybe , because Kevin was great rider too but he was not like M Dohan, is my opinion !!! We should not forget that M Dohan was in Rossi's team and gave great advices to Valle and so on .....

I love Rossi, Lorenzo, Schwantz, Haydn, Marquez aso....but Doohan is Legend and an idol for me. Great personality also. I wish him and his family all the best for the future.
Mick had the champion go-faster's attitude early on. Rode like a controlled maniac for years. Eventually became number 1 and stayed on top. Surprised me he lasted that long. Hat's off!
Just bought the Doohan tt rep lid, only missing one thing on it, the monica Doohan okay on the back. Top man on and off the bike, made off granite and didn't take crap off anybody. Hero and legend 👍
Michael Doohan...? O My God...! He is The Real Legend in The Motorsport. By the way, i have his book/Michael Doohan's Book. I thought the People of Australia will be proud of Mr. Michael Doohan.
I would kill to ride one of those nsr's for a hour on a track. Just to feel for short time what those guys felt like. Not at his speeds of course but to feel that power in small doses.
The last of the real riders, what he could do on those 200 plus hp 2 stroke beasts was magical. Maybe 10 riders who ever lived could tame and push to the edge a 500cc 2 stroke racebike.
Yeah, no more than 10, possibly even fewer. The ones I count in that exclusive club (in no particular order) are: Wayne Gardner, Garry McCoy, Michael Doohan, Wayne Rainey, Kevin Schwantz, Freddie Spencer, Eddie Lawson and, the best 500 rider never to win World Championship, Randy Mamola.
Actually, the bike behind #3 (to Schwantz's side) overshot his braking point, and first wiped out #3 bike, and then #34. Schwantz, another hard riding legend. 💙
rumor is there was only like 7 of those bikes and he has 2 .. amazing . totally fitting they are in the trophy room . this guy has to be my fav rider . not one of these uber boring racing at 5 dorks . i guiess he used to drink and smoke and chase girls and ripp jet skii's . be a hooligan on the road on bikes . a real character . i think he might be the best ever . arguably ,has to be the most naturally talented rider .
Those fools never rode 200 plus hp 2 stroke with 3 grand powerband in a 300lb total weight bike. He raced some great riders, he was just that damn good. Part feel part skill.part nerve and the mentality to push 100%.
@@casflowed9611 not really sure, but from what I read, Honda wont hand him one and kept on giving Rossi excuses till he finally gave up and let them be
“It’s not that you won the race, but who did you beat.” Doohan picked up his championships after Lawson, Rainey, Schwantz and Gardner left Motogp. This must take some of the luster off his championship wins. He was a tremendous talent though. Though it pisses me off every time I see that highlight of him taking Schwantz out at the British GP many years ago.
Southern redneck sportbike lover from america. You sir should be the picture in dictionary next to definition of legends of motor cycle racing. I followed gp from freddie spencer until the 500 2 strokes went away, seen all the top riders. You sir were a man among boys in 500gp. Thanks for the memories of the best days of gp bike racing. As they say. They do not build them luke they used to, bikes or riders. Lost all interest when they went 4 strokes and used electronics to control the bike. Abs anti wheelie anti spin launch control. Today they are not riders but passengers of over engineered scooters.

Aussie legend. Well done mick doohan. You are an inspiration mate.
Not too many have achieved what he has, one of the best Australian sportsman and I believe he sells aircrafts now.

One of the all time 500cc greats. Mick went toe to toe with Rainey, Schwantz, Lawson .. he belonged to the small club.
So cool he was able to some how obtain the bikes he won on.Those are over 1million a piece !
priceless, unlike Rossi they didnt give the 500 he won on !

One of the truly great riders. A shame that Kevin Schwantz retired and deprived Mick of more racing opportunities against another world-class talent.
