- The most underrated city in ALBANIA!!!
Pogradec is a truly beautiful place, filled with monuments, cafes, local restaurants and an ANCIENT LAKE!
GET HERE WHEN YOU CAN!
Pogradec :
Pogradec is the eleventh most populous city of the Republic of Albania and the capital of the eponymous municipality. It is located on a narrow plain between two mountain chains along the southwestern banks of the Lake of Ohrid. Its climate is profoundly influenced by a seasonal Mediterranean and Continental climate.
Once you have arrived in the city, you can use a car to drive around, but it is a better experience if you get around by foot, especially near the lake. In the night, especially in summer, there are a lot of people who walk around the boulevard and you will feel the good energy until midnight.
Pogradec is also famous for the usage of bicycles. You can rent a bicycle for a few hours and have enough time to visit some places and especially ride alongside the lake with a fantastic view.
What to see in Pogradec :
Pogradec Art Gallery (in the center). 09:00-16:00. It has works from well known Pogradec painters.
Pogradec museum - Pogradec has a rich museum with antiques and ancient testimonials.
Old Orthodox Church (Church of Kisha e re - Pogradec "Saint Maria") (in the old town).
The Church of "Resurrection". A newly built church.
Mosque in the Center of the town (Xhamia), Rruga Andon Xoxa.
Mosque in the hill.
Lasgush Poradeci Statue. Statue of a renowned Pogradec native poet.
Mitrush Kuteli Statue. Statue of a renowned Pogradec native poet.
Lake Ohrid :
Lake Ohrid is a lake which straddles the mountainous border between the southwestern part of North Macedonia and eastern Albania. It is one of Europe's deepest and oldest lakes, with a unique aquatic ecosystem of worldwide importance, with more than 200 endemic species.
Lake Ohrid, lake on the North Macedonia-Albania border in southeastern Europe. It has an area of 134 square miles (347 square km). At 938 feet (286 metres). It is connected by underground channels to Lake Prespa to the southeast. Lake Ohrid is known for its beauty and its fishing, and there are several beaches. Interesting historic buildings are found in the towns that lie along its shores.

Let me tell you some interesting facts about Pogradec 😊
1. In the area of Pogradec, the first documented Illyrian kingdom was formed, headed by King Bardhyl
2. The palafite settlement of Lin in Pogradec is the oldest in Europe over 8500 years old.
3. Lake Ohrid in antiquity was called Lyhnida, which means Lake of light, because the water of the lake wonderfully reflects all the light.
4. Lake Ohrid is the deepest and one of the oldest lakes in Europe.
5. Every year, the dictator of Albania Enver Hoxha would spend all summer in Pogradec because he adored the climate and the beauty of the nature.
6. In the area of Mokra, in Pogradec, there is a church called the church of Saint Marene, which is visited every year by Christian and Muslim believers because it is believed to have magical powers. The church was built around 1660, burned down and rebuilt again with the contribution of the village residents in 1754.
7. In Lake Ohrid, an endemic fish called "Koran" grows. This fish grows only in our lake and the Baltic Sea. But the taste of our fish is superior, and it is said that it was a favorite of Queen Elizabeth. 😊
What is the name if the church visited by both Christians and Muslims? I cannot find any info online about it.
You have to visit Drilon on the right of the lake
We need Fanta Exotic in every video! Lol. That city does look super chill. The gyro was jammed packed. That building gave us Tirana pyramid vibes. We give this video a 10/10.

It was designed beautifully with a lot of paintings and sculptures , downstairs was restaurant and upstairs you could taste amazing sweets. Thank you very much for sharing. Before Pogradec city was a beautiful place. It is called :"The City of Flowers ".🌺🌹❤️🌆🏙️😍🌸🌻💐

Will go to Pogradec and Lin in June. 7th visit to this country I love, but first time to these places.
Yes, that old ruined building was built before 1990. I am not sure but I think it was called Oktapod. Together with the other ruined building nearby which was called "The Old Turism," and the surrounding area they now belong to a family who are not able financially to rebuild them.
restaurant oktapodi
I live here so its kinda weird xD
yeah
ALRIGHT
my sisters have you been on those electric toys too many times exactly where you guys passed
@NaLuAdventures_ That old ruined building behind you at the end of the video is called “Oktapodi” meaning “Octopus” because of its shape. It used to be a restaurant back in the early 90s. With the fall of communism then and also in 1997 a government coup (Civil War due to pyramid schemes), that building appears to be in shambles and has yet to be renovated. Perhaps some day. West of it (to Luke’s left) used to be a Ferris Wheel. Great video!
WOW.. thanks so much for this info!
We are coming back to Albania soon, cannot wait to explore more!
To be or not to be , you make me laugh 😹😹🙏🏼✌🏻
Hello! I am planning to visit Ohrid in North Macedonia here in a few weeks.
Did you travel from Ohrid > Pogradec? If so, how did you manage? I am without car, and I would like to know the best method without drivers license.
its a restarunt were my grandpa worked at
Yay
This Is my city .Pogradec
Are you searching the price or the culture? Did they tell you about the city that is the first city in Europe.?😊
Is Albania safe.
It’s the safest country we’ve ever seen
make that 1,5 - 2 mio years old and you'll be a lot closer to the truth (according to the scientists who drilled into the bottom of the lake). Old enough, still.
Former Macedonian city
This city is beautifull because its not originaly albanian.
Pogradec on albanian doesn't mean nothing, but in Macedonian ?
Albanians and urbanism are on oposite sides. Sorry, bit its true.
If you see something realy good in Albania, ask who build that what you see, and you will realise those were not Albanians.
Like gypsies of Skopje and they statue and ridiculous palaces
In that big circle there’s hundreds of people there in August I live in. Pogradec that’s why I now😅
We love Albania 🇦🇱 can’t wait to come back!
My home city
Pogradec underrated???😄😄Who said?First time i hear that.
Unfortunately, absolutely nobody in Europe has heard of Pogradec. We have been telling so many people we know and many others about Albania 🇦🇱 but majority of them have never been there or even heard of most of the cities.
@@TwoMadExplorers Their problem, if they don't know..😉This fact don't make Pogradec underrated. When you said underrated, I thought you ment among the Albanians, obviously you ment the europeans which I'm not really concerned to be honest. When say absolutely nobody in Europe knows about Pogradec, I don't think that you have managed to ask every single European about Pogradec and you came to this conclusion.Your funny 😄
