    Great review - thanks - Im trying out the trial of Guitar Rig 6 - so i've made my mind up - absolutely no point buying it now as I cant control it easily - nice sounds but no good if you cant change patches on the fly live

    I ask NI support about the midi control with the controller from GR5. Answer from NI was that this old hardware is not supported anymore. I bought GR5 with an Komplete Audio couple weeks prior to GR6 release. Lol now it is old for them. GR5 has great and super easy midi support and a nice and easy to tweak UI, GR6 looks like its made for toddlers. So no upgrade for me here. Check out S-Gear 2.9 for example comes with easy midi support. Also if you use amp sims check out the Wall of sound from two notes this brings light into the darkness. Don't forget to turn of the cab in the amp sim first.

    Hi there, congratulations for the nice presentation!
    Could you please give some directions how to make "Learn MIDI Control" work like in any other plugin ?
    In Mindows, for any other plugin it's really simple. I just Right-click on a control, select "Learn", move a control on my MIDI keyboard and that's it.
    In GR it's just not working.
    Thank you.

      2 ways to do this. Let's do the fast way. Click on the parameter in question....hit the keyboard combination CMD+L and that should bring up the Controller Assignment Window. Now, turn the rotary knob/slider and you should be good. Be sure to turn off "LEARN MODE" to avoid learning assignments twice. Hope this helps. Stay Up!

    Hey bro, would it be possible to set each guitar setup on a separate track and have a way to just click down the tracks by turning on the record/monitor or solo to make it live? That way one would be completely set up for a performance, one could even add other reverb and separate effects for any track.

    • @_TheModernCreative
      @_TheModernCreative  Před 2 lety +1

      You can use the key command “select next track” and you should be solid. Let me know if that works

    Great video! One question, how did you connect your FS-5U to your mac?

    • @_TheModernCreative
      @_TheModernCreative  Před rokem +1

      Fs-5U goes out via 1/4 inch and I connected that to my keyboard sustain input (sustain is just a midi message). You could also connect to expression port I believe.
      Hope that helps.

    • @_TheModernCreative

      In my limited knowledge, not that I know of. I am sure it is possible as it’s just a midi message. If you find a way, LMK. Cheers!

      What kind of your daw? In my case, Ableton Live, load the GR6 then push the triangle button in the instrument rack firstly and the 'configure' button comes up. Light up the Configure button and toggle the knob you want in GR6. You can see a bar appears in the instrument rack. Click 'MIDI' button upside of Ableton live. Choose the bar in the instrument rack. Step your expression pedal. Tada~ Whatever your DAW, I think you could do this in the same way.

    I'm looking at Guitar rig 6. Why on earth would they design something like this which does have nice sounds and make the midi switch different from guitar rig 5 so you can't use rig 6 for live work? Would a possible workround be to use pro tools/cubase to play back the track to change the patch if you get me? That might be a useful way to do it so you dont need to change patches manually with a midi footswitch.

      @@_TheModernCreative I'll tell you whats a major headache for me at the moment. I wanted to computerize my rig and have just got a mac with Catalina. I started to look at interfaces to find a lot of the Native Instruments gear is not compatible but guitar rig 5 and 6 are both compatible with Catalina. Why do they do this? It just makes life more complicated.You don't get this grief with Windows. At least getting the mac first I don't have the heartache of buying gear then finding out it wont work on my mac.

    this is a great video with details. I use Ableton and I was able to change presets in guitar rig 5 using dummy clips and using program change in midi clips. but that that technique doesn't apply with rig 6.
